Maybe when there are no players left Adam Silver will get the memo that there needs to be less games. Or maybe not.

This might sound like hyperbole but it’s not: this may singlehandedly jeopardize our play in hopes. He was that impactful. Hopefully AJ coming back can offset and keep them treading water it but he’ll be sorely missed.

Man, I really thought people outside DC were gonna learn that Julian Champaigne had a brother who was damn good on his own right. He’s our best rebounder by a mile, on top of all the other things he does well.

Why do people try and argue that shortening the season isn’t a viable solution to injuries just because all the injuries happened early? It’s probably from years playing 82 games and back to backs cross country. Hali didn’t play last year but he’s one guy, people like Ant clearly had stuff going. Shortening the season by at least 10 games is something that people like Steve Kerr have called on too, players will just have to put up with the marginal salary loss.

Electric_jungle | WAS

He broke his foot. I’m not here to argue that there isn’t a larger problem, but mixed within that is random injuries that can’t really be controlled.

FKJVMMP | MIL

Justin Champagnie has played 191 career games, never more than 70 in a season, and only one over 20 MPG (2024-25).

Ariel Hukporti has 80 career games under his belt and only slightly over 700 minutes, season’s gone. As you noted, Halliburton already didn’t play last year. Simmons took a whole ass year off to just chill, still didn’t make it to the regular season. The list goes on.

It could not be more obvious that season length is not the issue here, but you’re still on about it anyway.

There’s a unprecedented rise in non contact injuries. What does that tell you? Micro tears and built up traumas aka wear and tear.

It is most likely due to the evolution of the game where there’s a rise in rapid stop and go movement, abrupt deceleration, abrupt and acute change of directions on both D and O. You can visibly see how much movements these schemes are on the court compared to games in the 90s early 2000s. You can see in the data (average of footsteps counts per game)

You can’t dictate how teams scheme and players movements on the court. What you can do is shorten the season and hopefully it lessens the wear and tear

MddlingAges | NYK

At the end of the day, most injuries occur in-game, so shortening the season is the most direct remedy in any sport. Pitchers have pitch counts, most running backs last less than a decade, soccer teams have trouble with extra games in the week. So there’s plenty of examples of game count affecting performance/career length on the top line vs specifics.

Knicks were healthier under Brown than Thibs, but to your point, it’s not like guys started taking games off. Haliburton, as you say, was injured very quickly this season, but his original injury was a high usage situation late in the playoffs, of course.

It’s also true that injuries can occur from too much rest, of course. Thibs and Silver aren’t completely wrong, because conditioning is a tricky thing. Lebron seems to have mastered it, and he played more than anybody, but clearly genes matter. Poor Kawhi, bad knees.

They want to get paid the same while playing fewer games

nath999

1 | 7 hours ago

Unless players start giving up some money they shouldn’t be shortening the season. I don’t want courts and jerseys filled with ads to go on top of more ad breaks to make up for loss revenue.

You want to cut b2b, I am fine with that.

Hey wizards GM, if ur here in a real scrappy hustle player who is gonna fight for rebounds if your looking for someone to fill that hole

[Stein] The Wizards say Justin Champagnie underwent a surgical procedure to repair a fracture in his right foot and is out indefinitely.
