He is very often sarcastic, but I don’t think people can identify it very well. When you have a history of sarcasm, it does sometimes get to a point where you don’t know where the sarcasm ends and the seriousness begins.
If he literally just said the line about the fans not being welcome back, it’d genuinely be ambiguous whether or not it was sarcastic.
The fact that he followed up with a detailed description of why it upset him and then later in the press conference went back to the topic to further elaborate on why it upset him made it abundantly clear it wasn’t sarcastic, though.
It’s because he believes a large part of his legacy in Denver is the loyal fanbase he’s built for the team here, the franchise had dogshit attendance before his rise and has sold full tickets for like 150 something games straight now, he mentioned this in his press conference when asked why he wanted to stay in denver, his reasoning was the fans.
He is right too. Nobody gave a shit about Denver until he was there. Nobody will give a shit if he leaves. He is the whole franchise.

What people on here don’t get is that the mentality in Serbia is completely different from the US.In Serbia if you want the team to do better you support the team and boo the opponents, you do everything in your power as a fan to help the team (screaming, booing, laser pointers, whistles, fireworks, smoke bombs, fighting opponent fans).But your team is your team and you stick with them. Conflicts between team and fans are usually carried out after the games when players will come to the standing room fans and talk to them after they have usually thanked them for their support.What usually does not happen is booing your own team. Fans are fans of the organization, the team and not of individual player or iterations of said team.Of course all this is very idealized and not always the case for all clubs and in all cases, but the general idea of how fandom is expressed and lived is just vastly different in Serbia compared to the US and Jokic was brought up on this.
