Basically, told him he had a chronic quad tendon issue that would require managing his minutes (i.e. load management) and PT, etc. Kawhi and his team insisted it was an injury that simply needed time to heal and said they were going to get a second opinion (which the Spurs never argued with and actually encouraged him to get; same thing happened with Duncan when he had a knee issue). They then leaked some bullshit story that the Spurs medical staff misdiagnosed him and caused his injury to worsen when the medical staff was actually right all along.

Somehow this myth of the Spurs medical staff misdiagnosing Kawhi persists.

It’s not vibes based. The symptoms are real and measurable. The problem is that there are some diagnoses that just describe the symptoms, not the cause. There are several potential etiologies related to POTS. We don’t know enough about what actually causes it (nervous system dysregulation, autoimmune issues, connective tissue disorders all seem to be potential links).

Bingo, like same thing with my girl, she got misdiagnosed, then had to go to an actual POTS specialist and now things make far more sense, but prior to that a ton of her doctors were telling her that she was just being dramatic. My hope with KP is that he can raise more awareness for those that have POTS, and also EDS-MCAS as well, because there’s very little research and very few specialists in the field.

Looking at the diagnosis criteria for POTs and doing some light reading of people who have its descriptions of what happens, on paper it seems pretty straightforward. Within 10mins of standing, 30%+ elevated heart rate(which causes the various symptoms), subsides upon lying down again. Most people describe it consistently as when they stand up, having various panic attack like physical symptoms because of the elevated heart rate but without the mind racing, which results in the brain fog/dizzyness, as well as sometimes foot/leg swelling from the excess blood pooling there, and the only way to stop it is lying or sitting down. I can see if you go to a random GP and they just take your vitals when youre lying on a examination bed after describing symptoms that many would miss it, but in Zingus’ case wouldnt it be fairly easy to objectively diagnose seeing as they already know the nominal condition and have a diagnosis framework to test it? Are the symptoms upon standing not consistent for many cases? I was under the impression that it was a hard to pin down disorder with ambiguous symptoms, but it seems to have a fairly consistent trigger with the standing up.

OP claims that the Warriors changed Porzingis’ status from Out-General Illness to Out-Not With Team because they do not believe he is actually sick. The reporting I quoted contradicts that claim, and suggests it is because Porzingis has not been around the facility after agreeing earlier in October to be around the facility more.

Pots is a neurological condition and anyone who has had a neuro condition knows it is difficult to diagnose. And then once diagnosed, finding the right treatment and then assuming it works, then try to return to work. And let’s not forget how porzingis’ job will actively set off symptoms.

In particular, only 1% of the population has it, so not common and pots could be misdiagnosed as dehydration, fatigue and therefore improperly treated.

This isn’t something as simple as “put a cast on it and move on” or “it’s in his head”.

There are multiple reports of porzingis getting treatments done. The warriors will make the best business decision for them if it means they can sign a player who is available. But the decision to change their roster is mutually exclusive to whether or not porzingis has a condition.

I liken this similar to Chris bosh or fultz who both had medical conditions, could not pass physicals and we’re ultimately traded or retired.
