If i snuck onto a court and started slapping the floor and sticking my booty out he would probably call me one of the best defenders too

He is twitchy and has that one play of him slapping the floor that went viral lol. He is the definition of “Pat Bev trick y’all, man, like he playing defense. He don’t guard nobody, man. He just running around, doing nothing.”

The college game where he almost single handedly beat the other team going 3 vs 5 has boosted his stocks even to this day.

Lmao he has some great moments of self-awareness. What’s strange to me is that he always comes across as very well-spoken and thoughtful in documentary interviews, like the Last Dance or the Malice in the Palace Doc

I think he may be deliberately playing a Magic Johnson-type character on the broadcasts because he’s constantly saying the dumbest or most obvious shit.

It was also funny when he clearly didn’t know how over-and-back works and Noah Eagle had to gently explain it while half-pretending to not know the rule himself when he clearly did.

I feel like Reggie is one of those people that doesn’t know how to work a computer, and has an old-timey phone, which is why he’s such a boomer. He doesn’t see what other people are saying, which means his only feedback is from his co-workers and the games themselves. He’s just completely unaware that praising Scott Foster is like praising Hitler to most people.

There goes that man

Mark Jackson was one of commentators in any sport and thats a hill I will die on.

I loved the chemistry of Jeff Van Gundy, Mark Jackson, and Mike Breen. JVG always been a favorite.

Monkey paw curls.

Yeah this is his problem along with a couple other commentators. They have their narratives spun pre game and will do gymnastics to get what’s happening on screen to fit their story. And they have terrible takes so they are constantly making conclusions that don’t match what’s actually happening, and they ignore some of the more interesting parts of the game

“Are you kidding me”? No Reggie, you really suck!

I feel like they need to get Clark Kellogg to do some NBA games. I absolutely love him on college basketball

Lol the commentators were hilariously quiet during parts of the season opener when the Knicks were cold.

this drives me nuts especially when it’s names that are pronounced phonetically like you literally just have to know how to read

a lot of the times it feels like people get their names wrong intentionally to seem funny or relatable

Shit he could even just say “Mamu” like most of the NBA

Weird shitting on Miller for that when our Jack Armstrong never bothered learning how to say Mamu’s name and he commented ~45 games.

“I just got a text!”

Completely agree. Need dominick Reyes to do a podcast on Reggie next

Especially with the recent Daniel Cormier and Dominick Cruz drama.

Cormier has such a heavy bias for wrestling guys and former teammates while just being insufferable on the mic. A fighter he likes can genuinely be getting pieced up on the feet for 4 minutes, then gets a takedown and does nothing with it but somehow cormier will go say some shit like “that takedown was huge, stole that round for me”. Like stfu.

I like commentators that like the sport in front of them and bring their excitement into my living room. When there’s bad play going on it’s fine if they call it out, we all want a professional grade product after all, but I hate when they’re just complaining cause it’s not how it was done in their day or they just have the energy that they’d rather be doing something else. Be excited, and let’s have fun watching this game together, it doesn’t need to be more complicated than that.

Eric Collins I’m unsure if he’s only a Hornets guy but he’s great.

Stacey King was the only one I liked

I think we all universally love the hornets broadcast, Same with the nets.

It’s just sad that you have to watch hornets or nets games to get them

The pels and Houston commentators

I like Chuck.

I definitely do not like my commentators, I like yours

Suave doesn’t mean “provacative Mr. Potato Head”?

Op meant savvy

He’s not. He’s “sauve”…according to OP.

Theres a huge difference between the two, and Reg is filthy with the sauve.

I actually think he’s one of the best commentators out there, so I’m genuinely confused at the op’s post

v and c are right next to each other so maybe he meant sauce? 😂

John McEnroe enters the chat

Reggie doesn’t really come across as a hater. If anything, he’s more like a company-man that is unrealistically positive about all things NBA, especially california NBA.

ESPN does have a whole morning show where everyone who has been fired by Mike Greenberg’s favorite team, the Jets of all teams, join him to spend an hour criticizing organizations that aren’t a 30 year dumpster fire every Monday.

My point being all sports coverage is underwhelming in today’s media not just NBA.

Their studio show is also dogshit. Prime is great, ESPN/corpse of TNT is awful but occasionally hilarious, NBC is bad analysis and deeply unfunny.
