This is gonna be an all time League Pass team
The fit of Dame Ja and Deni together looks a lot better than many expected
All have different strengths so none of them are redundant with each other
And they have elite defenders in Jrue, Camara and Timelord
lemme throw sidy some love dude can guard
Oh yeah, can’t forget him. Would’ve finished 2nd in offensive fouls drawn last year behind Camara (who broke the record). But he was on a 2-way and had his games limited towards the end because he had played near his limit pretty quickly with all the injuries we had
Sidy been surprisingly good so far. A real factor
I see that you are a man of high intelligence.
He reminds me of young Gerald Wallace. “Crash”
I could be wrong. I didn’t compare stats, but the type of play style feels similar to me. I’ve thought it from day 1 with Cidy
Clingan too with that double block a few minutes ago. Dudes a force.
i’m so mad they didn’t count it as 2 blocks
Camara might be the best player on the team tbh
I live this take
I mean, it’s Deni, but Camara is looking great.
Deni is also a great defender. His defense (and 3p shooting) dipped last year from the car accident/back injury but now that he’s healthy and not having carry the team on his back, he’s returned to great defense.
And of course Clingan too. Love how that dude impacts the paint and I loved his blocks tonight, especially on Kessler
With more chemistry together, the closing lineup should be Avdija, Lillard, Holiday, Camara, and Clingan.
That’s a perfect defensive and offensive lineup with size.
They’d need Camara and Avdija to help out on the boards but Camara, Lillard, and Holiday spacing the floor for Avdija with Clingan also a deep threat and tip out specialist highly dangerous.
There Wil also be lineups where Rob makes more sense. Ton of options we can throw out night-to-night.
they got Dr. Who?
I think Lillard’s immediate connection with Deni probably has something to do with post-achilles Dame actively inviting a more off-ball position for himself. I’d probably want someone to take the playmaking lead for me too off that injury
My username is relevant here - I wanted a legit point forward Dames entire time and he finally has that right teammate
Deni is exactly the archetype Dame has needed
I mean, we had that with Evan Turner. But we saw how that turned out
Plus Dame being with the team all last year as well. He saw Deni carry us all year. Their connection has been amazing to see.
Yeah. I wonder if Dame will feel solid playmaking anytime soon… could get spookier
my sense is they are gonna pick and choose spots where they need his play making so as not to overtax him throughout the season.
Little similar to how at times early in his career dame would play off the ball Nicholas batum would run point forward
Wait till the masses learn about timelord
Yeah they are really good.
Deni barreling to the rim, Ja slow and steady into push shots, Dame with the 3s.
Noone expected Ja to embrace this role so well
they’re Stallone, Willis, and Schwarzenegger. bout to be on demon time all season
Your second line is exactly why I was wondering why people were down on them (or at least not so high on them). Jrue, Williams, Clingan, Camara, and Scoot aren’t slouches either. It won’t shock me if they are a top 4 team in the west this year.
If you thought the fit would be bad, you don’t know ball
Jrue as well. He had a nice game too!
As someone who lives in Seattle, but is Portland fan, I cant event watch Portland on league pass. It’s all fucking blocked unless they’re playing an away game
Nobody hates basketball fans more than the NBA. One price, one service- it can’t be too much to ask.
i live in seattle too. just buy the blazervision in addition? thatd what im doing currently.
I use an antenna
you can get blazervision in Seattle
Blazervision and/or peacock are the streaming options here. You annoyingly need both for full coverage, but Blazervision keeps you 90 percent covered
i think we only have like 3 nationally televised games this year anyway
Nah we have 7 games just on NBC/Peacock actually
get an antenna
Are you afraid of the open seas?
The quality always feels like low bitrate no matter what the site claims it is. I sometimes will torrent a game the next day which are full crisp HD but I wish there was a solution for watching live.
There’s a couple decent pirate sites that stream 1080p. They usually aren’t free though, usually \(7-\)10 a month. You can pay with crypto if you’re worried about linking card info to one of the websites.
I think it’s because the Blazers have their dumb BlazersVision service. It’s nice if you only care about the Blazers but it’s kinda insane that it costs just as much as League Pass
Micah Nori has these guys cooking, they are fun as hell to watch. Fantastic leaguepass-esque watch tonight
So far this season, Wolves and Blazers have been the two funnest teams for me to watch. Straight cinema. Hope Ant takes the time needed to heal and comes back strong. Want to see us both make waves in the playoffs.
What does that mean?
Fun to watch regardless of who your main team is. They’re fun to watch. Not even mad about this loss, game was fun.
Game kept me up way past my bedtime but was definitely worth it. GG.
Blazers look good right now and fly fishing Ja Morant looks great out there. GG indeed.
Extremely fun team that even fans of different teams should tune into any chance they get.
Just until April
There is offense. That’s for sure.
Okay Bill
Minnesota and Blazers have been fun as fuck this year
I am feasting right now
They’re certainly becoming my West team for the season.
I stayed up until 2 am and now I’m half asleep at work
I regret nothing
It seems like all the starters except Ja are legit from 3 so the spacing seems to work.
Ngl this Blazers team is nice
Having Deni and Ja as penetrating ball handlers with Dame as an off-ball kick-out threat is really fun to watch.
And Camara he went crazy from 3
If Camara stays elite from 3, he very quickly becomes one of the most valuable role players in the league. He’d be Western Conference OG.
For TWO YEARS I’ve been telling my basketball watching friends to start talking about Toumani Camara to their basketball watching friends, because one day they’re gonna look real fuckin smart. Hope they did!
Easy there cowboy.
I love him
He’s so undrrrated
And he just got a new deal at 20ish per.
And the Rob Will lob threat. Very fun.
Dude has like twelve made lobs on the season.
when he’s healthy Timelord is such a fun player to watch
Yeah, it’s a nice combo of creation with 3 clear cut guys. The nice part is that they’re supported by really really good role players. Just a ton of top to bottom talent.
Luka is so fucking nasty he makes every shot. Bro could shoot a one legged no look 360 from mid court and I’d be scared it’d go in.
He really feels inevitable.
Blazers and Lakers fans being nice to each other. Nature is healing.
Actually I lurked on the Lakers’ sub’s post game thread and was very pleasantly surprised by how mature the conversation was. I’m not saying Kobe wasn’t great but I think he brought a certain kind of fan into the game.
Bruh you didnt miss anything down the stretch.
It was a crazy game. As a Blazers fan I kept looking at the score expecting to be down with how Luka and Reaves were playing. I’m excited for our next matchup.
Except for all those free throws
Clear mvp favorite so far this year since AE is hurt
They are so underrated it’s scary. Their big 3 is as good as any
I can’t even tell who you’re referring to with big 3 this team is stacked
If Bronny was covering Dame, then Dame would’ve missed.
Dude dame is exactly what they needed, and I didn’t even think about it cause I didn’t have much hopes for an old player coming off an Achilles injury
Respect to them for standing pat for so long. For a while it was like, damn, can you let some of these guys go to a good team please? But they stayed patient, kept them all, and now they look really good.
Yeah I’m not even that mad
We played great on offense, but we can’t do anything if our defense allows 135+ points.
absolutely couldn’t handle their ball movement whatsoever the entire game.
They also shot 50% from three. Even if every shot was wide open that would be insane lol
Offset a bit by 15 missed free throws though. Not that the Lakers were snipers from the line either.
That’s what really has me hyped. Still scored 136 against a good team. The missed free throws is an outlier that one most nights is another 7-10 points.
Eh Dame is their 3pt coach. Did you catch the vid of him literally not missing for minutes? He gym ratted his way into Curry stat land and Curry is an alien
Dude made 100,000 threes in the off season this summer.
Thats not a typo…
I like the things you say and how you say them
Yep , they were hitting everything
Really? I feel I’ve seen shit NBA shooters shoot +50 percent during practice.
It felt like those games against the Nuggets a couple of seasons ago where someone asked Ham in the press conference after the game what they would do different on offense. His response was that it was kind of hard to do much else when they are getting them to go in even when you have your hand right in their face.
They made 1 more three than the Lakers and shot less 3s overall
something i’d never think id see about portland, brings tear to my eye
While this is true when they play like this i doubt many team can stop them. Dame one of the best shooter (not some spot up shooter too he is like Curry type) of all time, both Deni and Ja great at attacking rim (ja looks alive so far) and other guys were hitting everything too. Plus both of their center pretty big. Lakers defence always gonna be question mark but they got beaten by pretty looking Portland team.
TLDR Scary times at Portland what im saying lol. Other than Reaves getting cooked by Ja so easily it was alright game imo. Plus its just 4th game with new team where you have to adapt/build around Walker on defence which takes times.
Couldn’t stay in front of anyone either, we lose most games with defense like that
Imagine if the Blazers didn’t miss 15 free throws too.
thats 150+ points
I simply cannot imagine.
Need someone to math proof this for me
Imagine the blazers shot their normal avg
So they lose 9-12 points from threes and gain 5-6 points from free throws and still win?
I mean. A team with Luka and AR on the floor all the time struggling to guard anyone does not sound surprising?
I suspect laker fans didn’t watch the 2024 finals
I suspect you didn’t watch the finals, Tatum and Brown were very inefficient trying to hunt Luka.
They had their worst offensive series of the playoffs, Mavs lost that series cause they couldn’t shoot
It’s Luka and Reaves, you will continue to do exactly that
Should have begged Marcus Smart to stay…
Offense can only carry you so far without solid defense.
The problem was fouling.
And terrible bench
It’s true but I’m also happy chalking this up to 3pt RNG. It was a close game, and tightening anything up could have been a W for us, but also tightening nothing up and both teams shooting 3pt at their average woulda been a lakers game W too.
🎶A tale as old as time🎶
Yall suck shitty assholes
Can’t believe Bucks are paying him to do this.
Correction: the Bucks are paying him a FUCKLOAD to do this
Its fitting that even his move leaving the franchise has done so much for it.
I truly can’t believe how blessed we are.
Portland has a solid roster and it wouldn’t have happen if he didn’t leave and be on the Bucks payroll to assemble it while he plays in Portland for barely anything
GM’s hate this one trick!
We also still have all the Bucks picks we got from trading him to them.
They have to pay someone decent.
How does this work?
Is it a way to circumvent the salary cap? Bucks just paid for whatever they agreed to, waive him and Portland settles on a vet min?
Bucks did all this and the Gary Trent bullshit just to have Trent and Turner as the franchise saving players for Giannis, and they lost him anyway. Like where did they expect that team to go, why not just keep Lillard, trade Giannis which would have netted them even more at the time because it was an extra season before he looked more injury prone as well, then think about the Lillard contract this offseason
Honestly?
Probably because they realized they were fucked either way and wanted to do right by Dame.
Dame was never truly happy here. His family is in Portland. His friends are in Portland. I love Milwaukee, but it’s not a place that is going to leap out and grab you in the winter if you’re already not feeling great about it. Giannis and him did not gel at all, on or off the court. The coaching situation was fucked. The rest of the roster was mostly fucked. And Giannis’s wishy-washy social media nonsense and trade non-demands were getting louder year after year. Why hold Dame hostage if they figured the whole thing was gonna fall apart anyway?
The Bucks have never been a first ballot destination for anyone. If they start developing a reputation for screwing over stars that do come here, that’s a fast track to mediocrity hell (which, to be fair, we may already be in).
Waive-and-stretch him, actually
They’re still correct lol
I’ll never forget when Dame absolutely cooked us after the Kobe memorial
Kobe, for his career, averaged more points against the Blazers than any other team. I consider Damian Lillard’s inexplicable, bodily need to pop the-fuck off against the Lakers to be revenge
Yet Kobe could not win in the Rose Garden for like 5 years, damn near 10 straight loses in Portland
Just pointing out that his second to last game ever in his prime, he dropped 47,8,5,3,4blks and 1 TO.
Rookie Dame dropped 38!
Kobe has a quote out there he loved playing in rose garden. We generally have great regular season crowd and he thrived on putting on a show. Seen a handful in person myself.
It doesn’t really meet the standard of a true rivalry, especially with how one-sided the two teams’ playoff success is, but I believe Staples/Crypto is Portland’s worst road arena by winning percentage all-time, and the Rose Garden/Moda is the Lakers’ worst.
Dame career high point average is Lakers as well. Averages 30
Truly a bay area native, a generational hater of all things LA.
Dame’s highest average is against the Lakers 😂
Someone pulled a stat before this game that dame highest pt per game against opponent was lakers at like 34/game or something ridiculous
What do you mean? He always cook us bro. Haha
That’s how you memorialize Kobe
I was literally thinking about that at work today, that exact game. I very randomly got tickets for the game on the day that Kobe passed (against Indiana, pretty sure?). Dame dropped 50 (or 60?) then followed that up with the masterpiece in LA. He’s always had good performances in LA, but that week with Kobe’s loss was special.
It was such a fitting tribute. Dames first game was a back and forth battle with Kobe. As a Blazer fan I always really appreciated the love Kobe gave to the Rose Garden, Brandon Roy, and Dame dude was all class.
He did it for Kobe.
Having your team cooked by Dame is a rite of passage. Hell he started our rebuild lol
Hasan Whiteside dagger fadeaway.
DaFuckYou three
Dame still got it man ❤️
Our defense isn’t good but sometimes you just gotta tip your cap. The Blazers just hit some unreal shots.
bro tip ur cap to yourselves too, this game was a disgusting level of shot making for both teams. we just pulled away this time. felt like east and west.
I think this team is perfectly built for Dame at this point of his career, Deni and Ja can be primary ball handlers and allow Dame to either lead the second unit or to be an offball guy
It wouldn’t have happen if he didn’t leave. Get on the bucks payroll and blazers pay him barely anything, they finally built a solid roster around Dame
Way back when this used to be the Patriot Way. Get a big check somewhere else and come back
Watching Luka on the receiving end of what Dame in a Blazers jersey does to the Lakers was surreal. So good to have him back
Damn it’s Dame time again!!!
He is now back!
I got into basketball in the 2014 season, had my first heart break when Lillard eliminated the rockets with his first Dame Time buzzer beater.
13 Years and an Achilles tear later, he’s still doing this shit.
I’m so fucking happy he’s back.
DAME TIME LETS FUCKING GO.
Now that he’s back in Portland, all is right in the nba world
Reggie…… “one of the greatest 3-point shooters… in today’s game.” Cmon man, intentionally went out of his way to not say “of all time”
He kept talking shit abt the blazers lmao
Dude is the second best 3point shooter of all time, lol.
Inarguable. He’s the best from insane-o depths, too. Steph is hands-down the best shooter, but if it’s from 37’ off a step-back, I’m taking Dame.
Isn’t he like 2 of 5 shots to win a series with a walk off 3 as well?
He’s the only one who hit it when his team trailed.
I hate when something is obviously true like this and people will qualify the statement with “arguably”
Arguably
all that bozo does is talk down on small market teams
He literally yells out in excitement: “The Pacific Northwest is back!”
He played for a small market team
The dude was a good baller but he’s an absolutely garbage announcer. He lives to glaze big markets.
Glad others noticed that, fucking Reggie man…
Reggie made an incredible call here in every sense. “The Pacific Northwest is back!” He clearly felt and shared the magnitude and excitement of the moment!
Glad I wasn’t the only that heard that shade being thrown. I yelled “you mean of all time” at my screen. I’d take Reggie over dame as a franchise player. But as a shooter and especially behind the arc in the fourth, it’s dame time every time
8 points in 9 seconds, against those goddamn 90s Knicks, earned the man a bit of pettiness and a modicum of arrogance.
Despite the massive foul he got away with.
Lillard is a laker killer. I hate that he’s doing it against us but I’m glad he’s back and still a beast.
I hate that we lost but I’m ok with building up the dame legend
This game had a lot of negatives to it from fouls to refereeing to dumb plays on both sides but man it was great to see these offenses ball out.
It might sound strange, but to me Dame is the Blazers. Granted I’m a Kings fan and was never watching the Blazers week in week out, but he really is a player who despite not winning anything, will go down as a legend for that franchise so much so that when other people remember the team they will instantly name drop Dame. That jersey just looks so right on him and I’m so happy he is back in Portland and still doing what he used to do. It feels like we are returning back to the right timeline and I can’t really explain it better than that.
As a Blazers fan, I can confirm this. Everything feels right again having him back.
Dame returning to form in Portland despite an Achilles tear at 35 while simultaneously fixing Ja Morant will definitely be the best story of the season if Portland continues winning like this. The vibes are just incredible despite the weird ongoing arena dispute.
pretty easy to have great vibes when you start the year like this, real test will be at game 41 when we’ve lost 15 or so games
I understand why Dame had to leave because our front office was so incompetent at putting a team together, but I wish he’d spent his entire career here.
Both hardcore and casual fans around the city know Dame is the Blazers.
Dame getting traded was the best thing that could have happened to your org to be fair. The team needed assets to build a team, and trading dame got you assets directly and from tanking.
True, on the other hand, Portland couldn’t have the team they have now without the trade that brought a lot pieces in and the Bucks paying most of Dame’s salary.
We can just pretend those 2 years never happened. Small blip.
There is no Milwaukee in ba sing sae
i still think about what could have been if we drafted amen instead of scoot. He probably stays and we don’t get this team, but it would have been amazing seeing dame play with him
*who despite SO FAR not winning anything :)
I think when the dust settles, he’s going to unanimously be the great blazer ever. Having him back just feels right.
Yeah I mean we won our only chip with Walton, and Drexler was my first favorite player and he got to two finals with the Blazers, but neither of them embraced Portland the way Dame has. I’m a Saints fan and Dame is to Portland as Drew Brees is to New Orleans.
When he left, it just felt like he would be back. Nobody has ever repped Portland like he does. I think he means more to this city than Walton ever did.
knowing the love he has for Oakland, it makes it all the more special he never went and joined the Warriors on a cheap deal to back up Curry. I’m sure it would have meant a whole lot for him, especially before they moved to SF, but he was loyal and wants to be the best in the game.
to me, what Dame means to the Blazers is what Drew Brees meant to the Saints. Something about their arrivals and careers for those cities, especially in the case of Brees and his arrival post-Katrina, just brought people together and it felt universal the connection. The love the players and cities have are so strong tied that you can’t imagine Dame in a Bucks jersey or Brees in a Chargers uniform.
He hasn’t won any championships, but he has done a lot of winning.
Ridiculous shot making from both teams
Bucks crippled their cap to get miles turner lmao
These dudes didn’t even hit the rim in the last 5 minutes.
Except on free throws
I love this Portland team
This Portland team is actually very good. They shot lights out from 3 which will not happen every game, but they have good depth and chemistry. Also they missed a fuckton of FTs so there’s that. As a Laker fan I can’t even be mad at losing a game because of Dame time. Dude’s a baller and it’s great to see him do well after a gruesome injury.
They also were horrendous at the line which shouldn’t happen often either. Pretty impressive that they won despite that.
We didn’t really lose because of Dame Time. We lost because we couldn’t make anything hard for them defensively.
Yeah, there were a lot of factors in play, but in the end it was his dagger that got them over the line and I also just wanted to show some love to Dame.
Sidenote: I hope JJ will at least try to play Vando instead of Looney and we get a true backup big or else we’re toast.
Everyone’s gonna say that it was same time that won this game. I love seeing dame back in a blazers jersey where he belongs…. But this game was won because Portland had 4 dudes with 20+ points. LA had 2 people with more than 25
Small ball is so hot right now
So nice to see Dame doing Dame shit again
I’ll never be upset losing to Dame. Dude’s a killer
I’ll also never be upset seeing Dame beat the Lakers.
You get one per season. Two if he has a retirement tour
I thought he was coming back to the Blazers for a retirement tour but dude is actually playing well… This is so surreal, what a comeback!
We would gladly have him back for the retirement tour but he’s still got it
That’s Kawhi’s play/
nice to see you back Dame
Respect to Oakland from up here always
Nah fuck the warriors
And respect to your opinion too, friend. It’s a good day to be a Blazer
Good L. Blazers can’t miss.
Except our free throws haha, those were kinda embarrassing
Except our free throws.
Refs have been really odd for both teams this game, kinda a shame because this was a good back and forth battle
They lost the definition of a flop and then had to call it both ways. None of those were worth calling
Agreed. Disruptive the flow of a great game.
Yeah it was really tough to watch. Game was already great. Imagine if it didn’t stop every 30 seconds for a good 5 minute stretch there?
Agreed, however after that ridiculous segment the rest of the game was pretty flop free 👀
Especially because when a defender’s flop goes uncalled he’s now at a massive disadvantage having to get off the floor, so the tech isn’t even that punishing. I wouldn’t be surprised if most teams would prefer a 5v4 possession on offense over the single technical FT followed by playing a posession against a set defence
That’s seriously how hard they’re calling flops this season, and it’ll require waiting for a dead ball to call it, which feels like a recipe for disaster, honestly.
A rare game where both teams have valid complaints about the refereeing. Scott Foster just loves to make a game about him.
Scott Foster is an artist— he creates the environment for these daggers, close games, OT, etc. and you guys don’t appreciate him smh
Refs really tried to make this game about them but the actual ball was too much fun for them to steal it.
Was a whistle every single play at times.
They are low key a superteam-lite if you assume everyone at their best
There are two types of NBA fan- those who are up on Clingan and those who are about to find out
Lol I love this.
I watched this game and saw him block three shots in like five seconds. Epic!
True. 4 players that were all stars at one point
yup issue is will they remain consistent form throughout the season and playoffs. i’m doubtful they can go to the finals but on paper these r very good players. ja has to step up and regain his all nba form and dame gotta clutch up to at least be somewhat of his old self
I see second round if they stay healthy which is way more than I expected two weeks ago.
Lots of people talking about Dame, Ja and Deni but we can’t forget Jrue. He has been such a steady, consistent force both offense and defense for us. Him running the second unit is huge.
This team is just really deep, you have like 8 players who deserve credit. The best thing about the blazers so far is how every single player put their ego aside
Since Dame hit his prime this has never been an issue. One of the under-discussed great leaders in all of sports.
That’s the thing,I don’t think it’s about leading.Of course he is the most respected player on the team, but for the first time in his career he needs to make adjustments to his game to fit the team needs(he is doing it great so far). And you can’t take for granted the fact that both Ja and Dame accept defensive subs or that both gave up on being the first option, or that Deni usage dropped a lot compared to last year and he still plays like a pass first, or that Jrue(2 times champion) accept his role off the bench. You don’t see it much in today’s nba and hopefully it stays that way cause right now the blazers offence looks unstoppable.
I’m like 4 5 seconds from changing my flair
⌚️👈🏻
Dame light savings is upon us
Omg yes. I will ONLY be referring to DST from here on out as Damelight Saving Time lol
You heard it here first
God it means to much to me to see Dame silence the crowd in Staples again
Did you hear that? There was actually a big crowd pop when he drained that lmao
Good game lakers. Fun one for sure.
Blazers are gonna be a problem in the west this year
They’ll probably upset someone in the 1st and 2nd round.
won’t be upsets, just wins
I nominate San Antonio as tribute
They still would be a very tough matchup for our squads play-style imo, but that would be an absolute dream series for us to pull off a decisive series win against them after how we got handled last year. I’ll be manifesting it along with an OKC vs Blazers wcf 🙏
we could pretty reasonably sneak into home court with all the injuries this year
They actually might get out of the first decisively
We’re fine in the west this year
Ja might be fine in the West
Ageless
Deni on the drive to kick to Dame for the dagger? Sign me up for a whole season of this!
Most interesting team in the NBA. Add Sharpe in a month or two. Oooohhhhweeeeeee. Dame can be player/coach and demand respect.
Sharpe ain’t coming back before march
I love watching Sharpe play but we need to trade him for a power forward.
Dame as player coach? this team is about to be pure entertainment. Oooohhhweeeee haha
Dame has gotta be the ideal mentor for Ja, as far as maturity/dedication/responsibility
When did my Blazers become robbers? Like Deni, Lillard, Ja is a trio that essentially cost them nothing considering their talent.
Blazers are actually nice
Tale old as Dame time!!!
LET IT GO DAMEEEEE
Bucks were so bad we thought Dame was washed… Giannis may have to answer some questions.
Could have been different if Giannis would have adjusted his game and committed to actually setting screens.
Giannis adjusting his game? Hell would freeze
Maybe Giannis is the problem
