Jayson Tatum last 3 games: 33.0 PPG - 6.7 RPG - 7.0 APG - 1.7 TOV.
Yeah he shot 22 free throws today but he’s been playing great the last 3 games since that stinker in Detroit.
MVP season incoming? Assuming Ty Jerome cools off of course
This Tatum guy is pretty good I must say
Vince Carter seriously questioning him and his ability to be a #1 as well as half the salty fanbase haters of his (Sixers, lakers, lebron, heat fans) after 1 game of the season where he simply just missed shots that he normally would hit is comical
NBA champ, 4x all nba first team in a row before Achilles, and probably will be another first team all NBA player again if he stays injured free
Vince Carter just salty Tatum already has a better career than him In half the time
Farthest VC went as a #1 was game 7 of the semis . Tatum as the #1 made 2 finals, got a ring and made 5 ECFs . Tatum got more all NBAs too
Vince, T-Mac and Melo are all incredibly salty that a SF they see as less talented than them are having much more success. They can wake up, get dress and get 20 and had the benefit of Bron, Kobe or Timmy giving them a yearly excuse. Tatum is basically the opposite of what they believe makes for a dominant player
Tatum have been good ass teams built around him in those runs, if he makes a deep playoff run this year with old ass pg as the 2nd option hes gonna make a lot of people think better about him
You mean the teams like the year when Kyrie and Hayward were injured and he got them to the ECF game 7 vs LeBron as a rookie? Or when he had Daniel Theis, Brad Wanamaker, Romeo Langford among others and got to the ECF? Or was it when Brown got injured and he gave the big 3 Nets a competitive 5 game series including taking one scoring 50? Damn yeah he’s always had stacked teams
These kinds of comments are always so silly lmao.
we were starting terry rozier and aron baynes in one of his ECF runs
So many stars and superstars have had great supporting cast…
Almost like the way he plays and what he can do makes team construction much easier than some “better” superstars and that’s very valuable
It’s been funny to see a parade of career losers being the most vocal anti-Tatum presence. Really cool to see the takes of Carmelo Anthony and Baron Davis, as well.
When did bum ass Melo join the wagon? Didn’t he have JT on his whack podcast just two years ago?
Most points in a game 7 in NBA history. Most points in Celtics Franchise history. Most points in an all star game. 2nd most points in playoff history before turning 28 (Lebron obviously 1)
Ain’t nobody give a shit what Vince Carter’s quitting-ass gotta say about anything
Vince Carter is an expert on a lot of things, but winning isn’t one of them unfortunately
All of them can eat shit
it’s hilarious seeing guys like TMac or Melo or Vince critique someone like Tatum about being a #1 option or winning basketball
His career laps all of theirs and he has like 3-4 seasons individually better than someone like Vince’s best
Its always players who Tatum lapped years ago talking shit about him. The Brons and KDs of the world sing his praises thats all that matters
Oldheads in media genuinely ruin the sport
I was worried for a minute just because Vince Carter knows a thing or two about being a #1 option not good enough to lead a team anywhere
it is really funny to be questioning if a guy who has literally already been the best player on a championship team can be the best player on a championship team
The Lebron vs Celtic beef has been dead for a decade
Lebron fans?
Yes Lebron fans hate everything Celtics related due to their battles for years. He has a giant fanbase that don’t even like a particular team just him so those fans hate Tatum and the Celtics
You could call out LeBron fans for the entire east then lol.
That’s true but all the teams LeBron has been on have been rivals of the Celtics so the hate is even more intensified to the team and their players. Like LeBron fans aren’t real loyal Sixers fan, they’ll root for them during this period but they’ll join in on hating the Celtics as much as they can like a true Sixers fan would.
Like when you add all these fanbases up, and it’s a lot of people, it makes sense why Tatum weirdly gets insane criticism more than a lot of other guys
there’s maybe like 2-3 East teams that were actual serious contenders that ran into Lebron’s superteams
It’s all the old heads who have achieved less than a fraction of what Tatum has done in his career that criticize him the most
Tmac and Vince are both JB’s guys so ofc they’re gonna be anti-tatum
The brass neck, he, T-Mac and Melo have is astounding.
It’s like fellas you know we’ve access to your career stats and play-off performances right?
It makes sense there’s a little bitterness there, Tatum and Brown were basically what could have been if Vince and TMac had been able to put aside their egos for a decade and work together.
Where did Vince say this ?
Delusional freaks saying the Celtics traded the wrong J. Please.
I never understood that because even if you want to call the scoring a wash, Tatum is definitely a better passer, rebounder, and defender
The people clamoring against analytics do not care about the passing or rebounding, and based Brown’s entire defensive reputation off one series
The scoring isn’t a wash either, Tatum is MUCH better
It was always wishful thinking
They went from saying JB is trash with no handle and a low IQ to saying he’s better than Tatum overnight immediately after the Philly trade happened lmao. It’s been a spectacle to see on here
Brad Stevens isn’t stupid. He knows Tatum is the better one
i mean, obviously. Nobody that understands basketball beyond looking at ppg on the back of a basketball card seriously thinks Brown was on Tatum’s level.
I don’t think the stats even really due it justice. He’s been such a good conductor for this team. A team that is pretty new together.
one of them has a FMVP
And entered rarified air with Iguodala and Billups
Gotta wonder how many players have a ring and 4 first team all-nba’s
Brown has finals Mvp while all the attention was on Tatum show me a series where brown is getting guarded like the better player plus its so funny how mfs act like Jaylen brown whole career is just 3 playoff series
the Finals
Lmao how was he getting guared like the better player when Tatum was getting doubled? You’re a idiot 👍🏿
I knew Tatum was always a capable playmaker but not to this degree. He might end up averaging 7+ assists a game this year
He really unlocked his passing in the playoff run when they won the finals. It was the first time he really looked like he could be a full engine for a team but he shot poorly in the finals and we were so stacked so people didn’t really see his progression.
When he got back from the achillis his passing continued to show improvement. It’s been fun to watch.
I think he unlocked it in the finals they lost. Shot wasn’t falling but still averaged 7 assists.
He did start passing the ball more midway through that season, mostly because Marcus Smart called out him and JB. During the finals they just started swarming him and his turnovers got out of control. He went into the off season understanding this is something he needs to be good at to help the team. Brown did not all he learned from that year was that he needs to learn how to dribble with his off hand.
Na it was the 22 run where it was really unlocked. He just never got to get the numbers up with the way the Celtics play
Dark horse mvp
It’s the lack of turnovers that’s the craziest here.
Drew and Scal pointing this out so nicely and very much not subtly ol
Best improvement is his playmaking. He’s genuinely a two way offensive engine. Can score 30, rebound and pass and plays good D and defend 5 positions.
Already better than Brown ever was last season. That’s why Brad stuck with this Jay over the other
Jaylen woke him up with the passive aggressive comments
Or, y’know, he’s just pretty good at basketball
Yes but I prefer to stir the pot with the Jaylen vs. Jayson drama thanks
I respect the honesty at least
I can vouch that Ausar is also really good at basketball (except shooting)
Nice to not face Ausar, too.
not bad for a 2nd option
if it’s necessary, /s
97th in EPM, very impactful player
Wondered why i got downvoted then realized I forgot to put percentile after 97th
But he was the wrong Celtic to keep right?
MVP
Living in a world where Tatum is the mvp frontrunner.
Real second option numbers
Where are all the think pieces at
He was reading the threads here
No turnovers today while putting up 40 pts…
Jaylen Brown is a bitch
Nah that’s too far
Why is shooting fts a bad thing? His big critique has always been aggression, suddenly that’s bad?
