The secret is you just expect him to miss every FT and if he ever makes one it feels like a win

why the fuck did mazzulla have mitch in to the end the game???

did this guy just blank on the celtics gameplan against the knicks since 2022??

the whole point of starting mitchell and then having queta come in is

mitchell doesn’t have to shoot FT’s in important moments

queta doesn’t get into foul trouble

luka garza isnt’ being forced into the most important moments of the game

and yet all 3 things happened

If you accept that none of them will ever go in and don’t expect them to, it’s a super nice surprise when 1 in 10 actually rolls in somehow. It’s like a bonus.

Yeah I was siting in the lower bowl at that game too. Electric moment whole crowd was green

I was also at the Raps one! First game I took my now Finace to and she became a Celtics fan! Any chance you could send me the video?

Kyrie and KD had a tough series but it’s sorta on them to not be able to pass out of a double. I get that they weren’t exactly a world beater team but Harden wanting out was on them and both guys never developed a chemistry due to their times off. So many times in that series where the answer was to literally just pass the ball 8 feet to the other guy and they refused to take easy out

I was at the game and it’s one of my favorite sports memories of all time, just so special

4 is actually a lot for true buzzer beaters. Game winners in the last 5-10 seconds would be a lot more, but true buzzer beaters are more rare than you think

To be fair I think the leader (Jordan) only has 9. LeBron, Kobe, and Joe Johnson follow with 8. They’re just rare in general.

FWIW Pierce has 7, and 5 buzzer beater assists, which at 12 is the highest for those 2 combined. The Truth.

Also, the Tatum one versus the Bucks had Derick Fisher time left on the clock (0.4 seconds). It’s easy to misremember near-buzzer beater game winners as buzzer beaters even if they don’t technically count.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/friv/buzzer-beaters.html

That’s a lot. People don’t realize how rare true buzzer beating game winners are.

The top 5 are

Michael Jordan (9)

Joe Johnson (8)

Kobe Bryant (8)

Lebron James (8)

Paul Pierce (7)

Fun fact, Paul Pierce has the most game winning buzzer beater assists with 5.

This is true buzzer beaters.

He has a ton of game winners with time in the clock

He’s tied for the most with 17 game winning shots since 2017-18 something like that but not all are true end of game buzzer beaters if that makes sense

Why? He’s the most frontrunning bum in the league. Literally only shows up against bad teams or when his team has a giant lead. And with the refs on their side it’s often not necessary.

I turned the game off in regulation when Celtics were up 3 and Nets missed. VERY confused when I got the “Celtics down in OT” notification lmao

Yeah after the Nets got bailed out at the end of reg

And Mo Wagner

He still didn’t work on free throws at all during the offseason apparently

Just off vibes I feel like he’s kinda been ass period this season so far

Im still here

the 4 to 7 that matter? no, but you can die mad

No, Luka is still alive

this gimmick was at least mildly entertaining when JB was still in Boston

Shooo go away

Makes sense I feel like he doesnt normally have that many

Did you receive your best flair trophy yet or is it still in the mail?

It was actually a new career high for him

https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/tatum-career-high-free-throw-attempts

Yeah not like Tatum could get 36 points in a win over the defending champs

“Tatum needs to stop settling for jumpers, remember he’s 6’9” and get to the line”

He does exactly that

“No, not like that”

Jayson Tatum haters can’t even stay consistent lol

It’s a good game regardless lmao. The efficiency, playmaking (0 TOs as well), and the shot to ice the game.

40 points on the second night of a back to back 18 months after a torn Achilles and you’re still here hating. Go find a mirror and just look in it to see what your life has become

Yeah but after they say that, what they gonna say!!!

if were using these metrics your team has never played a single real game

Truth

Tatum clears. And I doubt the difference in ability to grab that intentionally missed free throw isn’t large enough between Mitch and Garza to make up for the 2nd chance at a prayer 3 once Mitch predictably bricks both free throws. Terrible situational basketball right there.
