Which Rudy G shot from last night had the best chance of going in?
That fadeaway he hit on Jokic was literally guided in by angels or something.
Not the greatest heat check of all time but considering the personnel and stakes it’s gotta be like top 10
you get +25 to your shooting % when guarded by jokic.
This was what I was thinking. Him turning into prime Lamarcus Aldridge was our window slamming shut.

No actually. I think about shot at least once a week. Out of all the shots to hit in a game 7, that’s the one
Angels in the Frontcourt
Honestly might be the most ridiculous shot I’ve ever seen. Of all the “how did that go in” shots I’ve seen, that’s the one I think about the most.
This why they got beating Nuggets twice in playoffs up the rafters. Never winning a ring
it’s burned into my brain
He has some of the worst hands
Every pg move the wolves make, it’s always “we have someone to lob to Rudy now!” When he was first signed, the DLo/rudy pnr combo was hyped in the subreddit. Then his passes were criticized and everyone was blaming him. Same thing when Mike was signed, and now Melo is finding it out too. Rudy just can’t catch the fucking ball. The pgs always set up him up fine, but he just has the butteriest of fingers
I remember seeing these arguments with Ayton over and over again on r/suns. “No one can feed him entry passes, he needs a good PG!”
At the beginning it was true, sure. We started complete bums at PG. But then we got Rubio and eventually CP3. Ayton still fumbled passes in the pick and roll, still had terrible positioning when demanding the ball.
I didn’t watch him on the Lakers but I assume it was the same shit. “He’s gonna have the easiest time of his life with Luka!”. Some of these guys just can’t handle the ball unless you literally gift wrap it and shove it under the fucking Christmas tree.
Yeah it was the same with Luka.
It’s so hilarious, when Luka was playing with Lively, who had amazing hands, it sometimes seemed he is testing how high and how fast the passes can be and every time Lively still grabbed it and dunked it.
And then you could see him sending a soft, nicely arced entry pass to Ayton, almost like a parent to a toddler… here ya go big fella, nice and easy
I love Kessler but Luka with Lively was probably the most perfect pairing in the league short of Wemby himself. Lively molded his entire game to be Luka’s sword and shield, their synergy was insane.
When he went to the Lakers, it broke my brain listening to people say “Ayton will have no excuses now, he has two of the best facilitators ever.” Bro had the lob city maestro for 3 seasons and couldn’t figure it out.
And I’ll never forget the group of fans who unironically thought CP3 was holding Ayton back. The man who made DeAndre Jordan a 1st team All-NBA player. Who had Capela in talks of being an All Star. Ya he’s holding Ayton back
Yeah, seeing Ayton after having seen Amare for so long must’ve been painful. You could see the huge difference even with someone average like Dlive or Gafford. Dude just can’t catch the ball.
It’s not a 1:1 swap but that Suns team with Prime Amare instead of Ayton would have been ridiculous. Amare was a glutton for those post feeds. Would throw it down with a quickness.
You have no idea, Ayton would be so good if had 80% of Amare’s play style
Can confirm. definitely was the same shit in the LAL uniform
if cp3 couldn’t give ayton hands there isn’t a single dude in nba history who is
He’s decent enough on lobs but you can’t even drop off a pass to him under the basket cause 8⁄10 times he’s going to get stripped taking the ball up
His hands are way better than they used to be lol.
But yeah, bounce passes are out of the question. If he has to dribble, it might as well be a turnover. He is ok with lobs generally.
The thing is his hands are different every game. Sometimes he’s perfectly fine catching and then you have games like this.
Someone correct me if I’m bullshitting, but I seem to recall that during the 2024 Gold Medal game Gobert got targeted a number of times on offense by his team and just completely whiffed on the pass(es) in seemingly key moments.
If anything his shitty hands only bolster his DPOY legend, because you have to be an incredible defender to make up for that offensive deficit.
You don’t remember correctly. Gobert played only 12 min for the final and he rarely got the ball because it’s one of the main problem with the French team they never try to give the ball inside even if it’s Lessort playing or anyone else.
In the 2024 final gobert is 100% with 1⁄1 shot.
Gobert deserve his 4 DPOY by far.
Thank you for keeping me honest
Which had me laughing when everyone said lamelo would lob all night to Rudy.
I saw a lot of wolves games last season and he got a lot of good lobs from ant, naz and Randle. The problem was Rudy and his brick hands. After awhile you just get discouraged and stop passing him the ball. Same will happen with lamelo probably in 2-3 months
The pgs always set up him up fine, but he just has the butteriest of fingers
I’m pretty sure Gobert has been top 5 in dunks for many years running now, and we both know those are either lobs or easy feeds.
He has trampoline touch, those bigs are awful to watch
Watching Andre Drummond put in 50000% power in a simple layup is fucking hilarious, Gobert does it too that first one like what
Ironically makes them decent three point shooters imo, they overshoot everything, try some threes that three was closer than the layup
He should just spam a one footed turnaround right inside the 3 point line at the end of the shot clock, specifically during a 20 point come back
The first one is pretty bad but he was also trying to put it up before the shot clock
Honestly has the worst imo. Peak Drummond wasn’t this bad on offense and he had probably the worst hands for a big on offense that I’ve ever seen
I just don’t understand how someone that tall is able to blow that many layups/dunks that close to the rim.
Hes soft
Elite user name
I have no idea how he’s so insanely coordinated on defense, but then turns into a baby deer on offense.
I’ve never held a basketball before. Are they pretty slippery? Like an oiled up bowling ball or something?
For sure. They even accelerated a pandemic. Those poor microphones.
I’ve had people on here tell me that Rudy is a better shooter than anyone I’ve ever played with in real life lol I do legit think he’s a very impactful well deserved all star but I also think he’d lose in horse to a bunch of 50 year olds I see at 24 hour fitness
I guess Angel Reese could play in the MNBA
My dad and I genuinely believe he has fewer neurons in his hands than other NBA players. Unbelievable lack of touch
And he has the best career true shooting % in history.
This is why the eye test is so much more important than the statsheet.
This is a wild comment. He’s 2nd in field goal percentage for active players, and has lead the league in field goal percentage 4 times. He is also well below league average in turnovers. I dont know how any of that correlates to bad hands.
That has nothing to do with his hands, he only dunks so yeah no shit his FG% is high
Low turnover numbers yeah no shit he barely dribbles the ball
Gotta be bait. Not even the most staunch Rudy defenders would deny he has stone hands
Watch basketball lol
He has bad hands bro, idk how else to say it. But his % are good which is ironic and kinda cool
This is the first time I seen a person call him Rudy G
NOOOO NOT THIS GUY
YOUUUU FUCKING ASSHOLE
Probably because of Rudy Gay.
Pretty sure Rudy has a wife and children
Nah they broke up and weren’t married. Same w/ the kid
Maybe Rudy recently joined Hustler’s University and became a top G
It kinda has a ring to it lol
Rank these Rudy G’s
Gay Giuliani Gobert
Gay, Gobert
….
Giuliani
Thank you I was going crazy trying to figure out what a G Shot was
Rudy Giuliani replaced Gobert on offense.
Rudy Covid
its because he looks like Ali G these days
I know someone who pronounces the G like a J. Jobert.
Man, honestly our second-year center had a better offensive game and actually leads the league in offensive rebounds percentage. But this was just a bad night for Rudy and we should never let him shoot 3s.
A bad night from Rudy with no scoring contribution and turnovers, yet you still went to OT in a loss. I would not lose sleep over it, Timberwolves are legit.
On a back to back too. Wolves are a top 3 team in the league and the team to beat in the west imo, especially with OKC’s terribly unfortunate injuries.
Rockets?? They’ve had a good start but it’s only 4 games and they just got embarrassed in the first round last year and ran it back
I like the team but that’s a bit premature
Also, Gobert didn’t score but he grabbed 20 boards and played his usual good defense.
Ants dead for 2 months now
Cannot believe he took a 3 with 17s on the shot clock. He was going for the 1st quarter dagger
Like, how does a coach see this and think, “I’m okay with this”? Maybe if it’s a last-second shot then sure. But 17 seconds and McDaniels was putting his hands up when he shot it.
With everything he does on defense he’s allowed to take that shot. How many times has ant just let someone back door him and scored because ant was tired from playing offense. Sometimes as a head coach you let small things go
This is a pretty good example of why you don’t do that. Considering it went into OT, just one of those possessions could’ve been the difference in the game.
Larry Brown used to run the first couple plays of every game for Ben Wallace (who was an even worse offensive player than Rudy). The idea is to keep your defensive anchor engaged so they give max effort on D, but it always felt like we were just throwing possessions away.
You could see Mobely being like I dare you to fucking shoot and still shot it
Gobert might be the most uncoordinated future HOF I have ever seen
he can’t be that uncoordinated because he’s really accurate on his blocks. Just can’t handle the ball at all.
He doesn’t have a terrible jump shot (see his free throws) Stroke is fine, just needs game reps and confidence. Everyone talks like he’s a liability in the playoffs because he doesn’t stretch the defense… let the man shoot when he’s wide. He starts making a few early in the season… the post season impact and the offensive confidence he gains could be massive.
It’s not like he doesn’t shoot them and make them in practice. He doesn’t have to be Curry for it to be a positive.
This has to be some sort of sabotage attempt.
He has been in league for how many years now?
It’s a low cost experiment to see if he can break the mold. You won’t miss 2 possessions of getting Rudy reps a game for 10-15 games. If they’re all terrible you shut it down. But there’s a lot that happens in a “defensive player”‘s mind when they get the green light offensively.
When you’re as good as the wolves are, I think it’s a gamble worth trying.
Rudy Gobert has been in the league for FOURTEEN YEARS. If you seriously think he’s developing any type of three point jump shot, you’re more delusional than I could’ve imagined.
I mean I’m pretty confident he’ll never become an even acceptable 3-point shooter, but after going 18⁄140 on 3 pointers in his first 13 years in the league (alongside a career 48% FT rate), Andre Drummond hit 32 last year at a 35.6% rate. Gobert is a career 63% free throw shooter so it wouldn’t be any crazier
Can you imagine if he made it though. Like dude gets his first career 3 against you. James harden would have went into the locker and drowned himself.
I mean the thought of Rudy with solid offense changes nba history to Marvel What If levels
But think of the mental damage inflicted onto the other team if he makes it.
The only shot out of all of these i approve of is the inbound to an unguarded rudy with 2.2 on the shot clock. I think rudy with an unguarded 3 and all the time to shoot is way better than a scramble and heavily contested shot from anyone else in 2.2 seconds. It didnt go in but I actually think its a good look. He makes 3s in practice and that was essentially a warm up shot look that he got.
All the others were unbelievably trash.
One of the 3s was a from a poison pass. He had only 2sec to do something. No other choice than shooting it
Still better than Ayton. At least you can build around him because he can be a real terror on defense…. though yeah, it’s absolutely insane how uncoordinated his hands seem to be for such an amazing basketball player.
You would think that a few of those lowlights should be dunks, and on some of them he just lays it up basically into the basket rather than doing those looping shots.
Most of Lamelo turnovers and Ants was due to Rudy not holding the ball. He just got butter fingers for no reason.
Who recorded me at the rec centre?
I have never seen a long term professional basketball player have such terrible hands and coordination around rhe basket.
I mean he is huge and incredibly athletic. Decently coordinated for his size (at least in general movements like screening and running). If he had good hands and was more skilled he would be a top 10 player in the league at least.
I love Big Ben, but he’s genuinely worse than Rudy at scoring around the basket. I call it a draw because Rudy is legit 7ft and Ben was 6’8 at most imo
You mean hand-eye coordination, right?
It was Whitney Houston’s favorite type of coordination, she even had a song about it.
He’s usually a lot better.
Making contact with rim point blank is a lot better
Drummond prob, Rudy is one of the best rim protectors in NBA history but yea thats horrendous
Bro we literally have Jakob Poetl on our team
He might legitimately be a top 5 worst offensive player in league history.
Not even close lmao. You took a oppurtunity to bullshit
Give me your top 5 please. Is matisse thybull in there?
He literally has the most dunks ever in a season. Dunking being the most efficient shot in basketball obviously so calling him a bad offensive player is the most casual take you can just put out there.
Uncoordinated? Absolutely. Downright tough to watch sometimes? Fuck yeah he is.
Still has a huge impact on the game
It’s called betting on yourself … to miss some all baskets
Probably inspired by Scottie Barnes 😂
It’s called betting on yourself … to miss every basket.
The three pointers
Yeah probably considering they didn’t require a catch under the rim
I was thinking that until I saw the attempt that rolled around the rim. That one is number 1, followed by the 3s.
He looks like hes never used his left hand to make a shot ever
Or his right hand.
And then he’ll have some practice footage where he is swishing threes and doing fade aways with ease. It’s a funny world.
What, against defense?
sometimes https://youtube.com/watch?v=aKm6jza27zw
Such a low release point in the paint for a guy with a 9 and a half foot standing reach. Some people’s body mechanics are confounding.
I can never tell if it’s a shoulder mobility thing or just mechanics.
Yeah… honestly these big guys’ bodies are probably just fucked up after years of getting beat up but it’s not something they admit
I think the same is true for those explosive players who are so powerful they just rip and destroy their ligaments.
I mean, 52 overall in 2k and being the 27th pick as an intended draft-and-stash didn’t come out of nowhere. He has Kwame Brown hands and the rotator cuffs of Erick Dampier frozen in carbonite. The Nuggets let him go for nothing - a 2nd rounder and cash - during or right after the draft broadcast. It’s pretty cool that Rudy made so much out of his career when he could have slacked off and been a Hasheem Thabeet, or just never improved his footwork and timing and been a Schintzius-Diop stiff.
I can give a pass on the grenade 3 but shooting a 3 with 17 left in the shot clock???
Welcome to the new NBA. it was either this or he takes 6 steps to the cup, which would’ve been better.
I am among the biggest of Rudy apologists out there, but man this was a tough game to watch
What’s crazy is he still dominated the paint in this game. His offense was disgusting but his defense and rebounding was pretty damn good against the cavs bigs
This is the same guy that ended the Lakers season a couple of years ago with 27 points on 12⁄15 hahahahha. Fuck my life
Ok but he was literally playing a midget lineup
Fr it was the biggest wtf moment for my friends who shit talk Rudy worse than this sub
Every so often, he decides to randomly look competent to keep the scam moving forward. Then right when you think he might’ve figured something out, he’s back to air balling uncontested layups.
Not even lying i thought the threes were gonna be cash 😭
wtf don’t he just dunk it? Especially that first one lol.
The first one is the most excusable. There’s 0.5 seconds left.
When what you got is the alternative, you dunk that shit and put your pits in the the guys face lol.
I think this every time. Rudy, you are big enough to just dunk that shit. Please for the love of God!
It’s like he hasn’t bothered practicing offense a day in his life. Like, not even catching a basketball. It’s wild he’s coordinated enough to be a defensive menace but can’t have any offensive skills lol
I KNOW!! I could do better and I’m a 5’ 2” early forties woman 😂 ok maybe not but still. I expect more from this dude.
Cuz he’s charmin ultra soft. There is no reason for a guy his size to not be destroying the rim
Rudy literally has the NBA record(in the play by play era) for most dunks in a single season, and lead the NBA in dunks 4 straight seasons in his prime. He’s had some absolute monster yams in his day.
He’s 34. That’s the reason he doesn’t dunk it as hard any more.
You’re saying he’s 34 like it’s the 90’s. It’s only 2016.
players have retired before 34, it’s not a young age for athletes.
Falling away from the bucket every time I see this giant goes up.
Being a Bulls fan I’ve learned to hate bigs who go up soft around the rim because of Vucevic lol. I think if Gobert was on my team I’d love and hate him at the same time. Love his defense but I’d have a burning hatred for soft ass layups like this. Bro ur 7 feet, long ass arms, and like 250. Go up like a man
Shot clock. Might have dunked it in time but it would have been close.
Way better than what he did lol
French
This man really won the genetic lottery
Stone hands Rudy is terrible on offense, lol.
Plus his new goatee look makes him like the evil Rudy to me.
Like Flexo and Bender, haha.
He’s a basketball terrorist on offense. It’s so hard to watch.
He’s so awkward when he has the ball or even when doing off ball actions on offense. It’s so weird he’s so lacking on that end, cause he’s so good on defense.
Also weird that he’s innately that bad at ball handling even though he works hard with high level coaches at it. I can’t think of another athlete who has a similar situation
Hate the goatee. Looks good on like 1% of people and those people usually just look good regardless.
He gives me John Travolta in From Paris with Love vibes. But not in a good way, lol.
He looks better with the shaved head and the full beard.
There’s such thing as hyperbole, and then there’s just saying some absolutely dumb shit.
I’m not gonna sit here and analyze the varying attractiveness of men’s facial hair, because that doesn’t interest me to do. But I promise you 1% is just a really stupid number to throw out there.
Okay
Why? I thought saying 1% was fine here
Damn bro I mean with a username like that, your word here matters.
If we really want to dig down into it, baldness is very relevant. I agree bald and goateed is a laughably bad look for 99%.
But a most men aren’t bald. A goatee with some scruff around it is a very common look in my blue collar industry. And plenty of those dudes pull. I have done very well with it, although I’ve been clean shaving for most of the last year because it feels good. According to various women, they much prefer a goatee or mustache on me than a full beard. And I happen to agree with them.
First rudy, then evil rudy then Fry
The Andrew Bennett of Angel Reese’s
If you squint hard enough, you’d think he’s Michael Jordan.
My daughter mispronounces it Michael Jorkin. I’m pretty sure I’m seeing Michael Jorkin here
he got one of those jerseys that stacey king was making fun of.
Angel reese vibes
Average big guy at YMCA pick up game.
He took two 3s? Wow.
But yeah missing that first one was especially bad. I’m a Rudy defender but c’mon man.
If this isn’t proof of his status as a generational defender, I don’t know what is
The way the post is worded I thought we were getting a Rudy Gay clip at the end
those were some damn good looks too
Angel reese is proud
Just horrendous
He’s the pinnacle of a player who should play with brute force but only uses finesse.
Yknow what I think about when I see Rudy. Can he not palm the ball?
Damn Gobert got big
