Ray’s volume isn’t as high because of the explosion of volume shooting, but his career percentage is 40%, only just behind Klay, and his time as the number 1 guy in Seattle made it dip enough that to cause that. Klay has never been a number 1.

the “less than sum of your parts” thing is so real. when you build a roster around making one big trade work instead of just putting together a functional basketball team, the role players end up being filler rather than actual fits. 0-4 is early but the signs were there all offseason.
The Heat were stuck between a rock and a hard place. If they didn’t bet the farm on a trade, they would go nowhere. If they ran their roster back, they’d go nowhere.
This isn’t one of those situations. Heat have very few actually good basketball players.

Miami’s parts don’t even add up to that much on paper. It’s Giannis, Bam (who’s more of an Al Horford swiss army knife than a true #2 to a superstar), and scraps. They have no firepower. Klay is washed, Portis is a backup, Larsson and Jovic are memes. Davion Mitchell’s a fringe starter who’s actually shooting really well thus far, that’s not gonna continue.
It’s crazy to say but I think they could consider trading for Zach LaVine. He’s the only noteworthy scorer I can think of that seems gettable for them considering how low his stock is these days and how depleted their trade assets are after getting Giannis. 0-4 is rough but a hard rebuild is a massive overreaction. Bam is still a top tier two way player and you don’t blow that up four games into the season. They need better guard play and more consistent shooting, not a fire sale.
