[Lowlight] Klay Thompson hits the side of the backboard
its like watching your grandparents deteriorate
My grandmother never had a jumper.
Heard she was a hell of a ball handler back in the day tho
Damn
Brothers splash
I dunno she had a great stroke
She probably touched penises too!
there goes my hero
You thinking what I’m thinking partner
Herro*
Your dog that can’t hop on the bed or couch anymore.
It’s like looking in the mirror…
i know that he is washed but this shot is not a representative of that.
if you ever shoot a shot from that deep in the corner, the margin to make that shot is so slim. The chances to hit the backboard is almost guaranteed if you are missing
Yeah but he almost turned it over like a second before that too. So two rough plays right in a row
It’s makes it so much worse that he held the follow-through after the shot too, looked like he 100% thought that was going in
If the backboard wasn’t there, that was all net
So it’s all Naismith’s fault. If he didn’t add backboards back then, Klay would still be an all star today.
Would Tim Duncan be a bum if there were no backboards?
Bring back the rounded off backboards
Time for contact lenses?
this probably the last season he’ll fool a GM to give him a contract.
hell get a minimum off the bench role for the Warriors I think
Looking like fake Klay from a few years back
what’s BigDaws been up to since being banned from the warriors stadium?
I think that was him tonight
he can’t keep getting away with it!

Youuuuuuuu light my fire!
Paul George tribute
I find it really interesting how someone who is a shooter can get worse. A guy like Giannis who relies on athleticism makes sense he will get worse as time passes. But shooting shouldn’t really be as bad like this right?
There’s a baseline of athleticism necessary to get your shot off cleanly against NBA defenses. A player is easier to contest when they’re old and slow.
You need athleticism to create space and get your shot off. You guys really don’t hoop huh
Some guys are good at shooting through contests, some need clean space.
“Old man” game is about shooting well with minimal space, will using your frame to create just enough space to shoot.
Some guys have a game that translates well into old man ball, some don’t.
Old man balls hehehe
Yeah this is pretty obvious even to non players lol
It’s not about space though, Klay was always great at shooting through contests. It’s just about the power generation, he doesn’t have it anymore and compensates more with his arms which throws off the trajectory of the ball
Yes and Klay was always a bit slow footed even before injuries.
He also never had a great work ethic.
A lot of shooting form is in the lift generated by your legs. As that naturally goes down, some people can compensate, others can’t.
People thought Klay would age better in that area being such a pure shooter of the ball, but I think they underrate how often the D part of his 3 and D play style at golden state sapped him before the Achilles did the rest.
One of the most fun guys to watch play and no shame that he’s spent it all out there along the way.
You try tearing your left knee ACL, then next year tear your right Achilles and show me how you shoot after lol. Poor guy never recovered
I’m a normal dude who basically has that set of injuries but on opposite legs. Torn left Achilles, torn right LCL all from basketball. I basically haven’t played since the LCL two years ago. I’m lucky if I feel like I have 70% of the past strength in both legs on a given day
I tore my ATFL and CFL (ankle ligaments) skateboarding and it took over a year before I could skate again. It was fine to walk on, but when I tried to do any tricks it was mad painful. It took me over 2 years to be able to do half the stuff I did before the injury, and even then it was awkward.
I feel you. Injuries are way more rough than the average person assumes
Edit: I was young at the time, but my mom was a doctor at a high level facility so I got extremely good medical care. Still horrible.
This. Also Klay’s form has slightly changed since the injury, so definitely some sort of compensation / not fully recovered happening there too.
Tbf, i get live play is different to practice but he’s constantly shown nailing consecutive threes in practice environment whether it’s shooting drills and live scrimmage. The shot isn’t cooked but his live game shots are not consistent anymore.
No offence but it is really telling that a top 1% commenter on this sub is asking this question
I didn’t choose this tag bud. I just like talking ball. It’s weird yall redditors like to pay attention to those labels and make prejudices
I find it hilarious that the people who love talking ball can’t even do the bare minimum ON the court.
You should know at minimum you need athleticism to get your shot off..
as someone who has 3 growth plate diseases and on/off tendinitis, my shots arc would fluctuate at an insane level depending on my pain level. I had to practice 2 different jumpshots, one of which i would start the ball on my left side before bringing it up
so you like talking ball but don’t know that klay tore his acl and opposing achilles in alternating summers…and that one’s legs are very important for shooting…
Yes that’s the entire point, you comment so much to be a top 1% commenter but have to “wonder this”
Even if you don’t agree that is clearly what he is getting at and it’s pretty low intelligence to not understand that.
His legs are gone, Klay isn’t a set shooter
His form has changed after the injuries. He doesn’t have the legs he used to to get his shot off so he adjusts now but the adjustment causes him to lean one side now when he shoots.
He used to be straight up and down perfectly coordinated. Now he kinda lets his chest up early to compensate for loss of power from his legs and he leans a bit before he releases.
I mean after the injuries he had it’s a miracle he even had a career after them.
Giannis is going to age a lot better than people think, a lot better
Shooting isn’t immune to Father Time
Spoken as somebody who runs like an old man at this point, watching Klay run to the corner after the pass … he runs like an old man.
At a certain point your body just doesn’t want to play NBA basketball anymore. We’ve seen guys like LeBron and CP3 and Steph keep it going for so long that we forget, but for the vast majority of the history of the NBA, 36 is ancient.
Wayoff T
tough angle
Klank’s shot was bad but his pass before that was off-mark and terrible.
Right? That awful pass, the klank off the side of the backboard, and holding the goose neck was a trifecta of shit
and klanks another shot immediately after this
He needs the Paul George mental health steroid regimen
This why they call him Klank Thompson
After fumbling Megan I’m delighted in the downfall of Klank Thompson
i was cackling during this entire sequence
Clearly he is visually impaired in both cases.
Pass is off then his shot is off.
Nothing but backboard
Meghan’s revenge
Vintage Westbrick.
Unironically a good corner 3-point shooter, so, no, not really.
Why are you watching games and looking past the box score?
Delete this nephew
Klank
should have stayed with golden state man.
anyone who watched him come off the bench last year knew this would happen. this entire sequence was a disasterclass for him, missed three, fails to defend leading to a quick 2 pts, misses a jumpshot on the other end immediately after. just really funny stuff
Time to hang it up…
He shot 39% 2 yrs ago and 38% last year from 3. Its not horrible but his misses have looked BAD sometimes. I have no doubt that in a closed gym, he’d probably hit like 19 of 20 shots but you can tell hes not the same shooter he used to be.
Killed a lizard there.
