He wasn’t really though. Tatum is statistically one of the better last second shooters in the league since he entered. More efficient than Kobe by a fair amount and people think of Kobe as an elite clutch time player.
I’d like to see the sources for that, but even if Tatum is a good iso player that doesn’t change the fact that iso plays have been some of least efficient offensive plays as a whole for the last 20 seasons. The pick and roll + passing/movement to get quality shots will always generate more points in the long run.
I really hope Joe addresses it on his next appearance lol.

there’s going to be questions about his health and any loss athleticism and therefore performance in his game until he proves it over a season. we’ve known since he came back last season that he was still capable of putting on a show, but let’s see the 28 ppg on good efficiency over 70 games and the same elite defense he had before night in and out, let’s see the celtics get to 50 wins as easy as ever, before we say he’s the same jayson tatum as before. or even better, which is always possible too.
People were commenting that he didn’t have any free throws, like that was going to keep happening all year. If that happened in one game in January, no one would even notice.

Tommy in his prime was peak haha. His homerism was off the charts, but understandably so with his storied legacy with the Celts
It is biased but that doesn’t mean it’s not fair. Scal is just open about rooting for the Celtics. Hes also a very fair announcer. I wish more team announcers were open about rooting for the home team. It’s fun.

I guess he goes to a ton of camps in the summer and meets players. Seems like he’s good friends with every opponents up and coming players and knows their game.
