People were really sleeping on his defensive improvement last year. He quietly made a big jump, and he doesn’t have to be lockdown at his size. Ya’lls scheme is also perfect for him
He’s so good off-ball. He always vigilant and seems to know where the ball is going and then pursues the deflection/steal
His offensive awareness definitely extends to that end, and since yall have a good defense, he will be able to lean into the aggressiveness more.
He had also gotten a lot better at filling lanes but staying home. He has a better sense of when to cover the lane vs jump the steal
And now that he’s not shouldering the offense he can spend more energy on that

We’re actually rebounding even better than before
I’ve been surprised but they are doing even better on rebounding this year than last year. They are making up for being smaller by gang rebounding and actively pursuing the ball. Love Naz but he and Julius weren’t good rebounders and got lazy on that end. It’s only 3 games so doesn’t mean much, but in these 3 games Wolves are the #1 rebounding team.
They’ve outrebounded the Giannis and Bam Heat, the bigger Magic and the Raptors by around 20+ each. They’ve been better on defense this year compared to last year too because there’s less ball watching.
Apparently they had spirited, “Fight club” workouts this September to the point the coach thought there was “bad blood out there that would boil over”. The players said the games are easier in comparison to those workouts lol. Interesting approach…
