The shitty thing for OKC is that Wallace’s extension kicks in next year plus SGA’s new contract goes from \(41 to \)61 million next season. So unless they want to pay an astronomical amount of tax, they need to shed a lot of salary. Basically even if they do nothing this offseason they’re adding $36 million to their payroll.

My kid is a competitve rock climber and ive seen this type of injury twice in the past year.

Both ended up being a dislocation with a break (one was a hairline), but neither needed surgery.  I was shocked nothing was torn.

But the kids land on mats, so im guessing the hard floor made for a pretty bad bone snap.

I am a doctor and with this sort of injury he almost certainly has sustained ligament damage/rupture sadly

I’m not a doctor, but if you dislocate your ankle, there is likely also some ligament damage, considering the ligaments help stabilize the joint into a cohesive unit.

The fact he’s having surgery indicates that he did in fact tear at least one ligament

Seems like it’s just a simple and less dramatic way to put it so people, especially their fans can digest it easier. If i had to guess, it’s pretty bad.

Did not say how the break in the leg was. If it was near the very end of that bone (which it looked like) that can be quite nasty to put back together and recover from.

I had one in January and got surgery in March. I am just now feeling somewhat normal and able to play pickup basketball.

If he has one that requires surgical intervention, it’ll be 9-12 months easily… ask me how I know

I’m recovering from surgery of a labral tear and I’m about 18 weeks post op and can probably play basketball if I’m careful and that’s me having a desk job and not have the access to the same doctors and therapists as a pro. I’m sure he can be back by the playoffs if surgery and therapy go well

My younger brother plays football and tore his labrum doing a practice rep. He didn’t get fully cleared for practice and such for about nine months. Cason is most definitely out for the year. It’s going to make him figure shooting out again and everything. Legitimately felt horrible for my brother and I know that rehab is a bitch in particular. Just a lot of hoops to jump through, especially if surgery is required. It will literally always hurt for the rest of his life no matter how great his rehab goes.

I tore my labrum while snowboarding and it took an easy year after surgery. Still hurt every now and then to lift my arm for another few months.

Then I tore my rotator cuff in the other shoulder from another fall after that one healed, lol.

Had labrum surgery 2 weeks ago. Surgeon said ill be avle to play volleyball in about 6 months.

I have 3 in my dominate shoulder. Opted for no surgery. Have full range of motion and play tennis. No more basketball/volleyball tho. Surgeon said if I was a professional athlete the course is ALWAYS surgery

I have a complete labrum tear in my right shoulder and have for 7 years now (just got my mri this year, being young and dumb and just kept putting it off). Also a remote software engineer. Currently going through PT and gonna talk through surgery options in mid November. I dont have much to add other than I feel your pain and it really sucks, hope rehab works for you.

Not sure of your age but I had torn my labor in 2022, had surgery in March of 2024, followed by a second one on the same shoulder at the end of May in 2024. I was 36 at the time.

Rehab does suck. Also sucks how easily it is retear. But I opted for the surgery because we were planning to have kids.

No way I’d be able to do what I’m doing now as a dad without the surgery, even if it still isn’t 100% (and it won’t be). Point being it’s easier to recover the younger you are.

Don’t put it off forever if you have insurance. And if you’re in DFW, DM me and I’ll send you the name of my surgeon. Dude was badass who only does shoulders.

Just get the surgery. Best decision I made.

You gotta be very careful, randomly reach the wrong way one time and it’ll pop back out, and the more it happens the worse the tear gets.

I have a player who tore his a few weeks ago, he’s missing the entire season for recovery. Not uncommon in sports where there is throwing involved.

They had depth, but if normal small injuries occur they will be VERY thin on proven talent. If SGA gets an ankle sprain hey likely will lose every game he is out.

Jdub being a top 15 player in the league is a lot more than losing a role player

This is why good teams shouldn’t be expected to win automatically, anything (injuries, sudden fall off in play, chemistry issues, etc.) that we can’t predict can happen and instantly derail a team.
