Given he’s already 29 years old, the leap he could be taking here is almost unprecedented, especially in this era where talent is identified super early, and nobody really “falls between the gaps”.

Kyle ALWAYS had talent but Lional Hollins was determined to make Mike Conley a thing. I remember yelling at the screen when he refused to play Lowrey in the early days of conley. I love me some Mr. Sportmanship but still would rather have had Lowrey helming the team if given a fair shake.
To be fair, Mike Conley was a top 5 draft pick at age 19. There was an expectation that he would develop into a great point guard, given the minutes and guidance.

He did great against Miami. I think the Pacers did a great job of scouting him. And part of me thinks that Nembhard pulling the chair got in his head. Really fucked up his whole paint game.
There’s also something to be said about all Cavs players under Kenny Atkinson in big games.
But that Pacers run fucked with a lot of players heads. This will be Ty’s first extended run as the guy for a team, so hopefully it helps him in the event he finds himself in a big game

Yeah he was laughably bad in that series. I was a big believer in him and he crumbled when we really needed him. I’m not convinced but I am always rooting for him.

Most of the Cavs were hurt by then and the he was the only offensive threat left on the court at times. One bad stretch after that I don’t think is fair. Especially since we then chose Sam Merrill over him who isn’t proving his worth since either.

Merrill isn’t bad but there’s no way you would have looked at Jerome and Merrill, even after the playoffs and come away thinking that Merrill was the better player of the two.

Ty was a clear 6MOTY all year, yes, but his collapse in the playoffs was the reason why lost 2 pivotal games to the Pacers.
Beyond that we had cap issues and had to make a call on who to keep. It wasn’t that simple.

I absolutely knew he was going to be this good when I grabbed him as a random flyer in my fantasy league. Definitely wasn’t at the “wait, who is this guy again? Oh right, he might be fine” part of my draft prep. I’ve been a believer from the beginning.
His numbers were so good last year in limited minutes. Had the trigger ready this year just because of that lol. Now I might be able to flip him in package for Austin Reaves.
Same, I had him at the end of last season so it was easy notice his absurd per-minute production. Got him in the 11th round (eight-team league) in what could end up being a season-defining steal (not that I think he’ll keep this up, obviously).

He led the Grizzlies g league unit with no center to a better offensive rating than the best offense in the league while playing almost exclusively against teams that weren’t tanking.
He did this while also averaging like 32 points per 75 possessions on over 60% true shooting with elite playmaking efficiency.
While in Cleveland, some advanced stats like EPM said he was a top 20 player, and last season the same advanced stat said he was a top 7 player during his minutes.
Grizz were tanking hard and he’d have to be pulled out for playing too well.
Yea lol, I watched every game he played. They basically benched him the last month of the season because he led them to some wins over playoff teams.
Jerome was amazing as a 6th man two years ago for the Cavs. Didn’t play much last year due to injury but when he came back late season, he quietly played amazing in his limited minutes - a number of advanced stats rated him ridiculously high. Noticing that during the great advanced stat debate of the summer is what really put him on my radar. He’s probably not going to remain a 35 PPG scorer all season but he is going to be legitimately very good and will have a career year by a lot.
He looked kinda like this in the 15 games he played last year for us. Probably could have played more but we were tanking and he was hurt most the year.
I’m cautiously optimistic that he’s gonna keep at least most of this up. He’s got an injury history so that’s my biggest worry at the moment
