Jalen Williams Stretchered off With Severe Ankle Injury - Doctor Explains
Incoming people mad about educational content
It’s so annoying. There’s like 8 highlights of it here on this subreddit and everyone talking about it. An actual doctor that specializes in the area explains it and everyone is like: “Ambulance chaser! You’re exploiting his injury!”
Like bruh it’s the #1 post on this subreddit and it’s going to talked about endlessly on all sports media. At least we get an informed opinion.
Every post there are people saying he isn’t a legit doctor or a “tiktok doctor” too
Dude is a HUGE sports fan that happens to be a licensed MD and works in sports medicine. He is very qualified to talk about this stuff and he gives his best speculation
Yeah but wouldn’t you rather know Stephen A Smiths opinion?
What about Ja Rule?
yes. he is one of the single best sources for this other than team physicians and their press release. Often you won’t get those reports for a few days so this guy usually has some of the best (and good) pieces on the various injuries.
Right as he started talking about it, I was thinking “this sounds like Hayward” and then he mentions at the end, it is.
Some might say he is an ambulance chaser, but the simple fact is there rarely is another early source as good as his videos. No one else with expertise in the field makes videos of this. We all want to know right away what is up, and his is the best content on what is “likely up” with an injury.
I literally cant find a highlight of it on the sub. There are 5 top posts with reactions to it and 0 of the actual injury. This is the only one.
Looks like the mods went on a removal spree for some reason. Now it’s only reactions.
Mods love to be told what to do by the league without being paid for it.
My post that had the higher quality clip and replays got removed, but it looks like even the original post ended up getting removed too lol
Here’s the clip
I don’t see a single highlight of it here, what the hell happened?
As someone who has dealt with some extremely serious injuries I love that I can get an informed video explaining everything that is happening so that I can avoid that type of motion and the injuries that can occur with it.
No he’s using his expertise to put a diagnosis on something he doesn’t actually have the information on just based on what he saw on TV to boost his social media following. It’s stupid.
Damn, it’s wild how you have no idea what you’re talking about. But the confidence — unmatched.
Honestly, a little bit jealous tbh (not even exaggerating a little bit).
There’s a sub for that: r/confidentlyincorrect
Considering it would be illegal for anyone medically familiar with the facts to share information about it, yeah thats about as close as we can get
It’s clear you don’t actually watch his videos
Tell me you don’t watch his videos without watching them…smh.
Goes to show you that people don’t want to be educated.
Yet people will upvote random Redditors who will diagnose the injury without the mechanisms behind the injury.
I’m always thinking to myself, “Just watch his videos. They’re very informative and teach you what your tendons/ligaments are doing when these injuries happen. It’s super informative…” But unfortunately people just don’t want to be taught anything. It’s a sad world we live in.
Someone in another thread literally said he might be back by the end of the season 😭
There’s a good, informed explanation of what the range of possible injuries and the recovery window would be literally as the primary post in this thread.
“Somebody in another thread said” - it’s a five minute video! If you want to be more informed, just watch it!
Yeah they’re acting like he’s causing these injuries for money when he’s just teaching and letting fans know what to expect
You think people on here want to learn anything?
The attention span of the youth these days scares me. They can’t focus on anything.
It boggles my mind the number of people literally in this thread who make clear they want to know but can’t be bothered to watch a ~5 minute video.
I wanted to know and I watched the video as a preface. I will say tho, in defense of some people who may not have watched, I’m getting more and more annoyed at how everything has to be a video nowadays. Sometimes I want to just READ the information in like 1 min instead of having to watch someone in a fucking video for 5-10 mins with 2 to 3 ads to give me 1 min of information. Not talking about this video in particular because this was actually pretty short and not repetitive or drawn out, but yeah I can see people getting video fatigue because way too much information nowadays is drawn out in video form for algorithm/ad revenue purposes.
I am people on here and I want to learn
Nah they just wanna talk out of their asses about how this injury will end his career or make him lose his leg or some shit 😂
ikr. this is a great video
I like this guy. Respectful, informative, and lately— fast as fuck
Is it ankle or broken leg? In the other post they said leg it’s gone
It’s a short video.
Short answer is that he thinks it’s likely both a dislocated ankle with a fracture as well, but it could be only either one of those two things.
Prognosis is anywhere from multiple months out to Gordon Hayward-like career not being the same.
I’ve never rooted for a multiple months out report this hard in my life. Hope this is the best case scenario for him.
This is why his videos are so good. It appears to be an injury around the ankle rather than a snap of the bones higher up. Ankle dislocation with a high probability of associated fractures.
looked like a break at the lower shin but the way he landed and it moves after the tendon injuries can be anywhere
It’s speculative, not educational
It’s absolutely educational.
You learn about the possible range of injuries, and what the prognosis for each would be. You learn about anatomy.
It’s honestly pretty cool to have an expert show up and be like “Okay, based on what we can see, this is what I think is going on, and here’s enough information to help you understand why.”
His track record is pretty damn good, too.
The dude called about Zion’s injury years ago before the Pelicans put it out.
He knew it simply because of his walking gait. It was such a great video.
At least for me, I also really like that he’s willing to do the less sexy stuff like bringing up an anatomical model and explain varus/valgus.
Like the more trend chasey thing would be for him just to react to it, give his opinion, then give a timeline. but he takes time to explain all that and what the medical staff on site is trying to accomplish and what body mechanics often lead to this kind of thing etc
Doctor: yea his shit not supposed to bend that way lmao
Jdub is cooked. Incoming SGA MVP campaign again. Cason looks out for 2+ months also. OKC will have a weaker team on paper compared to us and denver, and somehow get more wins than both.
Nah, OKC is still stronger on paper. For Denver, Cam Johnson, Diallo, and Spencer are injured. OKC is deep af. Guys like AJ Mitchell and McCain will pick up the slack. Rookie Mara might also pick up the slack.
God dammit man I hope it’s not a career altering injury… jdub can’t catch a break
Same here. He’s only 25, and if Gordan Hayward’s recovery time table is any indication, it’ll take about a couple of years to be back on his full self. So right back into his prime, assuming no setbacks.
Don’t think Gordon was ever the same player Unfortunately
Same. The Thunder may annoy me with their play style, but I never want an injury like this to occur to any player.
Hes a great player with a really great and fun personality…he fought through a lot to help win them a chip and to see this after last year is just fucking horrible.
Don’t think it will with modern medicine. As long as it was a clean break, assuming no ligament tears.
gordon hayward was comparison case and that wasnt that long ago
Brother, I am sorry to tell you that that was a decade ago
I am so old
He was never the same after that
Honestly if it’s the type of fracture it looks like, his prognosis for full recovery is good. He’ll miss most, if not all of this season though
Dude was just joking about continuing to roll on the floor to ease tension cause he’s been dealing with injuries and now this…
I’m still in disbelief
I never watch these, is this guy always this fast? The injury was like 30 min ago and he already has a 5 min video uploaded with some editing.
Yea, thats how he gets paid. People are only going to be searching for this in the first 24 hours.
Is he not also a practicing physician? That’s nuts
The Shams of severe injuries
He is. I think he works for a college athletic program
I don’t get it. how is he already like dressed and presentable. sometimes I just wanna be a slob in my pajamas with messy hair and shit. does he always just need to be at the ready lmao
It’s part of his job so he’s prepared. How is it hard to understand lol
because how is he never at a friend’s house or on the toilet or in the middle of anything lol bro is just chained to his desk like damn
It’s kinda a running joke in the comments that he’s always ready to go.
does he do nfl? he’s probably been prepped all day for these.
Yeah, he does injuries from all sports
I assume that when he’s “on standby” he’s dressed, has camera set up, and has alerts set on his phone to tune into any injury that happens.
Yes. sometimes faster
This is slow for Brian. He’s sometimes had videos out in ten minutes
What in the world
Normally yes, but it’s a Sunday, lot’s of football
He has a permanent setup and has created an efficient workflow. It’s really not that hard to do with the right gear and resources.
He’s a MD so quick triaging is something that is needed for his job. So I don’t question the knowledge part or think it is AI.
It is weird though that he is just sitting there waiting for injuries and can edit so quick lol
He probably has a clinic of his own. So yeah that might just be his office. That’s the only explanation I can think of
He’s a sports medicine doc, so generally that’s not the kind of job you have to be on-call for. Most people get injured playing sports, they go to an ER if it’s bad, get stabilized, and then go to someone like him in the next few days.
Alan stick your man - he’s too fast Gerry
People got to eat. Quicker posting = more views and money
AI can do this incredibly fast
he’s been moving like this since before AI
He’s done this before COVID was even a thing
what does AI have to do with anything in tegards to this post lol
“Let’s take all the credit away from humans and give it to AI without proof just because I’m not capable of doing the same thing.”
Is this sub just endlessly miserable these days? Or am I crazy? How are people mad over a video simply trying to educate fans?
Honestly it feels like every sub lately has just been insanely negative. Either bots or a huge influx of children have found Reddit.
As a football fan, this is correct, r/soccer its the same these days.
That’s Reddit for you. Site is full of depressed children.
It’s about 30-40% bots now on reddit and a ton of them are just trying to peddle outrage all the time
It’s exhausting how miserable and hateful people are in general these days.
The entire internet, and especially Reddit, get more traction for hating things these days. It’s not cool to find something interesting, but rather the opposite. First one to crack a joke will get the most upvotes
It’s sad
I came to the sub searching for a clip of the injury and I gotta sift through Luka, Luka, Luka, SGA reaction, second SGA reaction and this guy shows up first, and I don’t need to sit through a video just to see a clip of a guy explaining how a leg injury is bad. I just want to see it for myself in context of the game, I don’t need an editorial.
Gnarly injury. That’s such a bad luck
Reddit is a cesspool of hate on everyone and everything. The only reason it’s even somewhat decent is because it’s the only place you can actually interact with people from the same fandom
It’s real.
This is what reality looks like when anonymous people are allowed to say what they want. This is a good sign, a sub with minimal moderation.
You ever been on a youtube/insta page, “Why is everyone so nice? Am I in the Truman Show?”
That’s when you know, shit is moderated as fuck.
I am also a doctor. That’s a textbook leg ouchie injury that is bad for you
I am not a doctor but I have had an extremely gruesome leg injury. I would say that’s a big ouchie that’s going to indeed hurt for awhile.
‘Mericans: “stop trying to educate me 😡”
Well they didn’t even know what a tariff was and just magically thought that other countries would pay us more. Not ever realizing that we don’t grow a lot of shit here in this country.
This country is highly uneducated and people are perfectly fine with continuing to be uneducated.
Fr. People just want to hate.
Does this guy sleep?
Poor dude. Fingers crossed this is as light of an injury as possible. I just want to see this guy healthy ffs.
As a medical student , shit like this makes me appreciate my field even more
Yeah that shit broke
How does this compare to the Paul George injury a few years back?
It’s gonna depend on how much ligament damage there is
I saw him getting injured again but not this soon. J Dub has always had an issue with landing weird. Even that thing he did the other day where he lands arms stretched out and does those extra rolls on the ground. It was funny, but he could have gotten hurt in more than one way.
can we not make that the thumbnail
