Shai on JDub injury “hes not gone forever and we know it, we just gotta hold the fort down till he comes back”
I mean I get the sentiment but also, he’s done for at least the regular season but probably the year
Yeah but thats just the mentality you got to have
Depends on ligament damage and what broke. But as someone who broke an ankle and tore ligaments it’s starting to feel normal after 2 years but with a decent decline in athleticism.
We don’t even know the extent of the injury. You are being dramatic
Broken legs heal faster than torn acls. Most likely just one season
Injuries like this happen in football all the time. Usually see them back next season. And we are just 1 week in.
He’s not the first player to get injured like this, and again, it could be a clean tear for all we know. Again you are being dramatic
Dude blocks me after😂 these new fans man
It really depends on what was actually injured. I had a femur/tibia/fibula break not too long ago and my leg looked horrific, but it was all bone fractures and nothing else. He’s out for a long time, but without specifics a two year timetable is far from a given
Gordon Hayward was back for the opening game of the next season after he snapped his leg
Almost certainly not a 2 year injury lol
Maybe if he severely injured knee ligaments, too, or if he has complications. If it’s just a break, usual return timeline is like 6-10 months.
Really disturbed to see people cheering his injury on TikTok comments, this is why I like Reddit ppl here actually have heart and empathy
Yeah injuries should stop sports beef for a second. Shit is genuinely sad
Reddit ppl here actually have heart and empathy
debatable
Way more than yt and tiktok for sure
Nah even people on reddit, some are celebrating it
scroll to the bottom brother of either thread, there are many
There’s always gonna be a few, always
Always. But they’re at least getting downvoted to hell.
That’s crazy. Some people are just awful awful people.
I’m not an OKC fan (Nuggets fan) but I feel so bad for him. I hope he can recover well and play again at the same level.
if jokic was injured by wallace a few days ago i bet you won’t think the same waybut there’s no if on these things, awful injury, wish him well
What do you mean I won’t think the same way? I would also feel bad for him and probably even more devastated.
Did you misunderstood my comment or was I the one that made the mistake?
I wish I was as naive as you.
If you use an app that’s designed for teenagers you’re probably gonna see a lot of immature nonsense. Why are you on TikTok?
Tiktok have way better jerking game than reddit. But yeah for serious stuff you shouldn’t really look at the comments there.
Cuz my mom sends me dumb cat and dog Ai memes lol
Just disgusting people, overall. Same shit happened when KD got his Achilles done with Golden State. I don’t get it, genuinely.
Oh, the flairless chuds aren’t really helping their case.
This isn’t a social platform thing it’s a subset thing. I’m seeing plenty of empathy and shittiness on both platforms.
Check the Clippers sub.
Reminds me when toronto fans cheered when KD got injured. Horrible people are everywhere
I saw people cheering it on reddit. It’s absolutely not just tiktok
People complain about the mods here, but it’s actually the mods and the rules that’s doing the heavy lifting.
Go to r/nbatalk and it’s a free for all.
Don’t scroll to the bottom of any of these threads
Hopefully the injury is just very very bad instead of devastating
Best case scenario is a clean break like Aidan Hutchison had on the Lions. It’s feasible to return in 4-5. months. Any tendon injury though and it’s curtains for the season.
Even in the best case scenario of a clean break, I doubt the FO would even consider letting come back this season in the middle of February/March basketball. Its just seems too risky.
OKC will likely be playing until at least May. If he’s medically cleared in March/April he will play
I don’t even know at this point. Any other player? Sure. I don’t know if they’ll risk it with Jalen in that best case scenario that his injury isn’t as devastating as it seems to be.
No they wont. They did the same last season with him and he was limping all playoffs and then got shut down
Agreed but he’s still young and with his chronic leg injuries I don’t think they should risk it. Maybe they do? Hate to see him pull a Klay while rehabbing for his come back and get another major injury.
He’s getting traded either way now
If the Heat keep playing like cheeks, they might trade for Giannis…
Depends on if it’s an ankle injury (like a trimalleolar fracture) or if it’s a leg injury (like Hutchinson).
Depending on where the break is and if there’s any ligament injury or other joint derangements the recovery timeline for ankle fracture is pretty good if you start fairly aggressive PT after that essential bone healing is done. Only a good orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon can make that call tho.
They can’t use stem cells to speed up tendon recovery? In not a doctor just asking
It’s entirely possible he will be able to return late in the season for the playoff run, but we know how that went for him last year with the hammy
He should not return this season. That leg injury was brutal and he just came back. Another injury like that and his career might be over. The thunder are still good with him off the floor. Let him recover.
Clean leg breaks are not that bad, if that’s what it is.
Yeah but this isn’t the only injury he has had. He just came back from one. Most careers that end from injuries aren’t just big ones, most come from a build of injuries until one finally puts a stop to you.
He already tried returning “prematurely” last season with his hamstring injury and it was clearly the wrong decision.
Problem with these longer injuries is muscle loss, you can’t really rush it. Tatum suffered with it.
How long was gordon hayward out again?
A year, but he never moved the same again, and he fucked up his leg and his ankle.
God damn was he gonna be exciting for y’all…,and was. For a few minutes 😭
Brother… there is no shot that he’ll be back this season, did you not see the injury and how gruesome it was?
He’ll be lucky to be back for next season. I don’t even think he’ll be ready by next October.
Breaking your tibia and dislocating your ankle, is potential potentially career altering.
Look at Caris LeVert’s injury. He only missed a couple months
I wish him the best but I have seen this enough. He is not coming back this season. Even if he does, it’s not going to be great comeback.
If it’s like when Caris Levert had a similar injury, it didn’t need surgery and he came back same season. That’s if it was actually a dislocated ankles if it’s a broken bone he probably won’t be back this year
Gordon Hayward’s injury a decade ago looked really similar and he was never the same.
1 game with 3 injuries for OKC. Absolute terrible luck for the players and hope their recoveries go well.
Who else got injured besides Cason and J-Dub?
J will wrist
Fuck it’s a horrible day to be a Jalen/Jaylin
J-Will.
It’s awful luck. They traded Dort and Wiggins, they’re now pretty small on the wing.
I’m just hoping it’s not as bad as it looked and somehow he can come back sooner than expected.
godspeed to Aaron Wiggins, he looks damn good in the Hawks’ colors
Hoping JDub’s injury isn’t as bad as it looked. Saw something sort of similar happen in the nfl, everyone thought he was done, but ended up missing about 12 weeks.
it’s the refs fault for not controlling the game
The Lu Dort effect. Karma
weirdo
Shut your bitch ass up
You’re a moron
Flair up pussy. Bum ass wishing injury on people.
Spurs “fan”
I feel so awful for JDub. He’s always so joyous, and was finally fully healthy after almost two years. And now gets dealt this. And his teammates are supposed to just suit back up and play again tomorrow. Fucking brutal, man.
First nba game ever and he had the painful and mentally taxing orbital injury. Had to deal with that for months. Bro can never catch a break
I swear to god if Dillon Brooks starts up on his bullshit tomorrow night against them, I’m teleporting to OKC and beating his ass.
Edit: Dillon Brooks, not Devin Booker 😅 Pregnancy brain and shock at what happened, my bad y’all
Sad stuff.
Never like to see people get hurt
SAD
That’s optimistic as hell and I respect that but idk if JDub is going to even be ready for the start of next season
Gordon Hayward was back for the first game of the following season after his injury.
Visually it’s the closest one I could think of to this injury but yeah, it could be worse, hopefully we see him sooner rather than later.
Back physically but was never the same player after. Injuries suck
Dude is emotional and in shock from seeing that happen to the guy. I think he was just saying supportive stuff more than making a clear declaration on what he expects.
great analysis nguyen
That’s optimistic as hell
I believe the Bible does in fact say that Hell is known for its optimism.
Maybe he’s lucky like Thornton for the chiefs was and it’s 12 weeks?
What? His leg was flopping around. That aint 12 weeks.
So was Thorntons, just depends on the severity of the dislocation
Depends on if it’s a clean dislocation and bimalleolar fracture, those usually don’t need surgery. If it’s a trimalleolar fracture then he will.
God I hope its a clean dislocation. Hopefully casons injury is minor as well
We’ll see, it’s wishful thinking and a big IF
Yeah I know, but hoping its a Harry Jones type injury is the best I can do rn
Thats what i was thinking too, both had similar injuries
Football and basketball are so different. Guys come back in 6 months from acl and Achilles tears in the nfl.
Heart broken. I love watching him play. Damn it’s not fair.
Hopefully not his career, but season-ending for sure. Wish him a speedy recovery.
My heart hurts
Like I don’t think I’ve ever seen SGA shaken like that
I knew it was bad as soon as they zoomed in on Shai. He usually keeps his emotions locked down but he and Caruso were both emotional.
Fucking sad
Seriously speaking, what’s the outlook for an injury of this nature? Full season? Can he play again after or will it affect his game? Are there examples of players who suffered a similar injury and come back fine? Dude is a fighter, I’m sure he’ll come back stronger.
If Dubs lucky, Paul George, if he isn’t, Hayward
paul george pretty much missed all of next year aside from 6 games in april off the bench when team already missed playoffs, mainly just for the crowd? so yea j dub season is over. not sure about next year tho
And PG was injured in the offseason if he injured himself in October he wouldn’t have returned
He will play sometime next season, if he ever gets back to himself its likely to be the 28⁄29 season.
More likely than not he will never have the same athleticism again
The athleticism should be back, the problem is the mental. He may never exert that athleticism ever again due to mental trauma
Paul George
He broke his ankle, not his femur.
Actually wait no it wasn’t his ankle it was a Open Tibia & Fibula Fracture (Right Leg)
Jdub has an ankle injury. Pg had a femur injury.
Do yk where the femur is lol? He has the exact same injury as Paul George
No he doesn’t. Y’all are high as hell if you think this injury is the same as Paul George’s. PG’s leg snapped in half - I literally saw it when it happened, while you were probably in diapers. Jdub has an ankle injury.
Think I’m wrong? Your reply better be the fucking video of pg breaking his leg and explaining to the world how this is the same injury.
Hayward was never the same, it wasn’t career ending but it took him from up and coming super star to nothing.
So that’s gotta be the worst case scenario
Hayward was also unwilling to accept any role except immediate starter and first option, he hated playing for the thunder that last season and made it obvious as fuck, and even shit talked the thunder org on some podcast he went on. Dude wasnt the same, but he refused to put work in after his injury too.
You play the cards you’re dealt. Fuck Hayward, dude could have hade a decent career after his injury.
If he’s lucky and didn’t tear any ligaments, 12 months at minimum. If he tore some of them, could easily be 18 months. Modern tech has come a ways even since PGs injury. There have been several soccer players who have come back to full strength after a leg break like this in the past few seasons. But, bodies can be weird. Nothing is ever a sure thing.
I know Bill Simmons got clowned but is there any correlation to how quickly you get surgery for these things vs how fast you’re able to return? Tatum’s was ACL granted but theory is that luckily since he was in NYC and got it right away that made a big difference. Curious what the medical consensus is but of course every body’s unique
You are correct it seems the earlier the surgery the better the recover. The doctor that preforms the surgery seems to be the one suggesting it as well.
Probably some medical studies going into it conceptually, but this is seems like media new tech not even offered to public just yet but rather elites
Tatum’s was Achilles, which is widely considered a more severe injury long term than an ACL.
I wish I had that info. Sadly, I’m just a guy who loves sports, not a medical professional. I’ve seen injuries like this enough to know a basic idea of recovery times but there’s so many variables.
A displaced fracture with no other damage is a surgery + 6 months of healing time before you can do normal activity (like walking/jogging and using it for light activity) hes likely done for the year, theres some miracle he could come back in April, but thats if his bone heals and he starts PT and rehab in 3 months.
I just watched some doctor react and he said its probabvly max one season but we could see him return late into the season potentially if its not like a supr duper bad thing. So holding out hopes for that for his sake
I’m not sure given that we aren’t (officially) sure of what exactly the injury is. It looked like PGs injury and his took awhile for him to recover but that was also 10 years ago and he came out better so imagine Jdub would look even healthier
Yes
We have enough talent to win this for dub.
That shyt look like a long ass rehab after surgery. I aint no medical professional but his season might be over b
Yessir!!
I say this genuinely, the other day when jdub rolled around like the speed of sound I loled so hard and remember he’s one of my favorites, so much so in fact I always trade for him in 2k.
I wish he recovers quick, man.
In a weird way, it’s good that it happened so early into the season. Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s back by the end of the season.
Yes that’s the silver lining. There is a slight possibility he returns late this season; and it means he will return at some point next season for sure
Please tell me you’re joking.
About what
don’t think it’s that bad of a thing to say atleast he has a chance to come back this season, he didn’t mean anything malicious
Yea I was genuinely confused by his reply. Depending on the severity, it’s not unrealistic for him to be back for the end of the season or during the playoffs, just trying to be hopeful my bad lol. And obviously there was no ill intent, I bet he makes a swift recovery.
If there’s no ligament damage, he COULD be back in May possibly.
Season ending . Sucks to see
Ajay Mitchel MIP season
By far my favorite player on OKC. Sucks to see him deal with a bunch of injuries the last few years.
Jdub has terrible injury luck man… awful to see.
So for next season? They have created doctors etc I do wonder 💭
