[Injury] Jalen Suggs goes down with a non-contact injury.
Rough night for Jalen’s
Bench Brunson rn idc
Put him in bubble wrap pls.
Someone check on Jalen Rose too. Just to be safe.
Jalen rose is the original horcrux. You have to take out the others before him
His hairline receded 2 micrometers tonight
Still won’t catch him without a fresh line up. Never that.
🕊️ 🕊️
He needs another talking to from coach daddy 🥴
Rough week if you include Jalen Hurts.
Hurts just hearing the name
It’s a cursed month for Jalen’s.
Too many (injured) Jalens in the NBA.
When did error apostrophes become a thing
No one knows, how to use apostrophe’s or comma’s anymore.
Well that, suck’s
Put Rose in a bubble
Duren
To be fair, like 40% of American athletes are named Jalen
What the fuck is going on today!?
Early season ramp up. Players’ bodies aren’t ready yet
Which is crazy because it really felt like this was the most aggressive preseason in at least 20 years. You’d hope some of that would help cut down on early injuries.
how does that break Dub’s ankle?
I don’t know if anyone else has seen it, but it also feels like the level of play just seems more… aggressive than in years past, at least for October basketball.
im so happy kawhi sat lol
The game is kind of crazy these days, so much running around, change of directions, players are better, more athletic, full court presses, double teams, you score you have to run back in 0.1s or they’ll score a fastbreak bucket, etc. 82 games in the modern NBA, b2bs and stuff, its really tough.
Back in the day, the tempo would be a lot slower, 8 guys would just watch 2 guys play the post against each other like half the game and they’d play 82 games
It feels like injuries get worse every season
There’s a bit of data that since guys are running so much more in game than in the past that it could lead to more break downs.
This is 3 though so shit luck
Suggs has gotten hurt every year he’s been in the league, some guys are just always going to get hurt no matter what.
The pace and amount of games
And these guys have been grinding since they were young (see Lonzo) so general wear and tear is crazy
Also running on hardwood is terrible for you in general.
The floors are sprung and padded underneath, though. They’re not just running on wooden floor placed directly over concrete.
How the hell did this comment get this upvoted, it’s completely wrong. Arenas that do both NHL and NBA games just put insulated plastic on top of the ice and then the hardwood panels on top of that. There’s no springs or padding involved at all.
EDIT: Since I don’t expect anyone to read the reply chain that resulted from this, I’ll link this Wendover video where they show off the conversion process at the United Center. They use plywood as the insulator on the ice, not plastic, but the idea’s the same. There’s no cushioning layer or spring system involved.
anyone with any common sense or natural human movement awareness(barefooting etc) woudl agree with you. It’s kind of brutal, but you need a hard surface to dribble.
YOu could play basketball on field turf if you could carry it….in fact og rules you had to pass after 3 steps i think it was more like field hockey
Is carrying illegal?
let’s just make it softwood? Hello?
We need grass
Oh sorry wrong sport
Running more and iirc cutting vastly more often per play, both as a screener/cutter or as an on-ball driver
They should move the shot clock off offensive rebounds back to 24 instead of 14 . The pace of the game is too much
I’m not sure it’s even the pace. Offenses and defenses have a lot more motion than they used to.
Just like the NFL. Players are getting so much bigger, faster, and these huge dudes being fast as shit cannot be good for their joints and legs.
Guys are specializing in sports so early on that it’s causing sport-specific injuries more often.
Tangentially related is that the rate of CTE in has gone up with football players since kids start playing tackle football at younger ages now.
I don’t have the statistics but I remember a video by a PT about how athletes train these days. They basically make their bodies like F1 cars, highly performant and explosive, but at the same time make them more prone to major injuries.
I was gonna comment separately based on an ongoing theory but I wonder if the lack of playing two-three sports a year adds to this. Not building up all the various muscles and such.
Injuries are horrible but it seems to be happening more frequent all the way down to the HS level. Obviously correlation isn’t causation necessarily but still curious.
Here, Jalen Suggs was a two sport star in football and basketball in HS
The game is way more physically demanding than it used to be
The thing about the post up heavy play of the 80s and 90s is that you don’t really get injured posting up. The up and down running and defensive play on the perimeter is what gets players.
I rewatched some 90s basketball recently (I was born in 1990, so it’s the first basketball I ever watched) and I kind of forgot how radically different it is. Everyone is so comparatively stationary; the post ups, illegal defense rules, and general amount of players in close proximity to the basket resulted in so much less movement.
That’s why I laugh when people say it’s the most physical era. Like did it have more bigger dudes? Yeah. But big doesn’t mean physical. So few players played the way it’s played today and that just led to less taxing play on people’s bodies. Check the minutes guys were playing back then. Check the games played. The reason dudes could play 70 plus game seasons and nearly 40 minutes a game is because it was just a different game. Dudes would literally stand still on offense and defense for portions of the game with their hands on their knees when they weren’t involved in the offensive action.
Watch an Utah Jazz game and see what the players not named Stockton and Malone did when they weren’t involved in the offense. Unless you were crashing the glass heavily you had so much room to save energy and that’s part of what prevented injuries.
Before Michael Jordan came along, how many teams ran clear out isos or pick and roll with a wing player? Nobody did. It’s probably why Michael Jordan befuddled so many defenses. Nobody did what he did as an offensive player outside of like Dominique Wilkins and Clyde Drexler. Teams would routinely throw the ball into the post to untalented bigs just because that’s what everyone did. Don’t get me wrong you had teams like the Celtics who ran an awesome offense (go back and watch them), but is it a surprise that they were also one of the few teams from the 80s to eventually break down from injuries because they didn’t just play that simple post up based offense.
And the ramp up is shorter
And the off season is shorter
But the profits are higher so who cares
not to be a doomer but i genuinely think this will ruin the nba unless rule changes are made to change playstyle
they’ll never do it but i think the nba would be a lot better with like 50 games
at least get rid of B2Bs. Insane how a sport this taxing on the body has B2Bs
thank you. I get people really dont want to expand with the season running into july or whatever but they need to spread these games out more or shorten the season. And the latter will never ever happen.
50 might be a little bit aggressive, but even reduction to 70 games would go a long way
70 games and no more back to backs would be huge
1 game per week would be sweet. Cant keep up with a busy life when theres several games every night. Hard enough to keep up with 1 team itself
God no
Okay relax
This is unironically kind of why we have the parity that Silver gets praised for tho. So many of the champions have an astrick next to them, like yeah but if so and so wasn’t injured….
astrick
*asterisk

Yeah, like the unfortunate JDub injury tonight changed the equation for a team that was treading the water as perfectly as one can under the new CBA. Now they have 25% of the cap out for the season and may never get him get back at his All-NBA level.
Dude slipped on the floor while running a fast break. Idk what rule you’re changing to avoid that injury.
This sub is beyond delusional when it comes to injuries.
He didn’t slip on the floor his knee gave out
Yeah, they need to ban fastbreaks 🙄
Coaches need to use their benches better and create schemes were they can still succeed with less talent on the court.
They already play soft. And travel. How do you change that?
The pace of the games is so fast it seems to be leading to more lower leg injuries unfortunately
too much running these days
I forgot where I heard it but I think someone mentioned players are doing AAU and travel sports all throughout their life into the pros. Just a lot of strain on the body over time it seems, leading to more injuries? I feel like just in the past few years torn Achilles became freakishly more common where in the past it didn’t seem like it.
Edit: typos
It’s partly the mileage of specializing in sports earlier and earlier, but at the end of the day it just comes down to body mechanics and wear and tear / conditioning throughout a season or multiple seasons.
The average player today is roughly 6 foot 7 inches, probably plays on the wing, and is covering more ground than years past but also making more cuts as well.
The game was more physical in a bumps and bruises sense with hand checking and post play, which lowered the speed of the game and the amount of ground getting covered on a nightly basis. There was also less space to make more dynamic cuts as typically a drive or even off ball movement quickly became a physical tussle to command a designated space.
So you look at how many more miles go on the lower body today just as a pro, and the size of these people, and then factor in whatever shit they did in youth sports and you start seeing more of this stuff. There’s also smaller ramp up windows to get into playing shape.
The Achilles gets a lot of attention, similar to the fear of an ACL tear like a decade ago, but it’s less about the tendon or ligament failing and more about the level of continued stress happening to the surrounding muscles, which eventually creates imbalances and that final failure of the body. Lot of guys with the Achilles injury had nagging calf injuries as a precursor.
Suggs has had other soft tissue injuries so it’s probably also just continued imbalances in the body. Very common for someone after a calf, Achilles, knee, etc. to rehab and then injure the opposite leg too as an example.
There are also guys that are still capable of being absolute iron men under the same conditions, so they’re probably doing something right in some capacity. Not going to name anyone because that’s just bad vibes lol.
AAA
AAU?
Oops 🤫
There are some teams that just can’t catch a break. Magic seems to be genuinely unlucky with injuries. Mo Wagner tore his acl, Franz Wagner last season with an ankle sprain (a year before that he was also injured) Jalen Suggs also missed 90 days or so with a knee injury in 2025, Paolo high ankle sprain last season missing the first quarter of the season.
Curious to look into their nutrition and hydration (water, Gatorade, etc.) if they changed recipes, formulas or what. Did athletes change their diet or start ingesting other stuff somewhat?
“What was he thinking?” Bros knee just exploded that’s what
Well he should have thought of it not exploding, duh
Why can’t people simply not be injured?
Name a more iconic duo. Magic players and injuries
“That was a travel!”
Good god man
Like the other announcer just told him he grabbed his knee. Dude was pissed suggs couldnt force up a better shot when his legg just exploded? I mean i get praising dudes who fought through the pain, but to condemn others who cant? Ridiculous
Not Clyde’s best moments in the booth
“What was he thinking??” - Clyde, after the 2nd plane hit.
Bro thought this was Bargnani
haha
Ya that pissed me off
i wanna give him grace and assume he didnt see suggs was that hurt but breen literally says it right b4
Breen said it like 4 times and he kept going
nah he went further after this? thats fked
If he went further than this then that’s pretty fucked up. If it’s just this piece in the video I would have to give him a pass for various reasons.
He obviously didn’t realize he was hurt. He’s getting older. It happens.
He was calling us Tragic Magic all night just to see his team take a tragic L
I mean the rhyming thing is kind of his schtick, but yeah there were one too many things said in poor taste tonight imo. Sad to see people get old
he called you guys that once when you were down 12-0
He was shitting on the magic the literal entire first half. It was all he talked about.
Losing to the hospital Magic is embarrassing but it happens to the best of teams
Losing an unexpected Eastern Conference basement knife fight to Orlando is probably not what either team had in mind for game 3 of the season.
Time to retire my man.
Between this and creeping over angel reese the knicks need to fire him after this game
lmao
Stop it besides this suggs thing that’s a normal Clyde broadcast
hes 80 lol
more reason to stop working
He should be fired, laughing at big injuries is so unprofessional
Greatest Knick of all time considering his broadcasting career and you want him fired over this? Say that again so I can laugh again
Yall the most overreacting people on the face of the planet.
There’s this word called professionalism. Perhaps you’ve never heard of it.
So you genuinely think he(an ex player, same position as Suggs) saw his knee go and said fuck this guy ima shit on him? He clearly didn’t know what happened and you hear breen walk him through it. Hes 80 years old.. its going to happen where he misses stuff. Stop being soft and actually take a second to think about things before being so reactionary
big loser energy in this comment lol
The only 80 year old who ever belonged in a booth was Herbie Brown. I chalk this one up to being too old.
One of the worst announcers in the league!!
What? Clyde is awesome.
bot
Why do I even watch this sport? Another year of losing 30 guys to injuries.
Big feeling that tonight. We lost 3 tonight ourselves.
fellow fantasy enjoyer?
this is the orlando magic experience
You should thank your lucky stars Paolo is out. Won you the game.
Who cares man? This roster isn’t going anywhere anyway…
Clyde with some brutal commentary. Second hand embarrassment as a Knicks fan hearing how he covered it.
He def seemed a year older tonight which I think we all just assumed he would be who he is forever
yeah really really odd from him, I wonder if he thought Suggs was trying to bait a call.
Apology incoming
no I noticed this the other night and have watched him for decades, Clyde’s age is starting to really show these days. The man is over 80 TBF but yeah he clearly just wasn’t really processing what was happening on the court
Having watched the Knicks the second most out of any team because of local networks in North NJ, I’ll give Clyde benefit of the doubt given his age. He’s never been one to be malicious about opponents
I mean ngl, him traveling literally caused this in a fucked up way. But Clyde could’ve handled it better
Clyde was too blunt about it but he was right. Sucks you hate to see it Suggs is a dog
If you think that’s a travel you’re mentally slow
I get that nothing’s a travel anymore in the NBA but he literally took 3 steps.
It was an awkward approach which probably led to the awkward jump. It happens, that’s probably what Clyde was getting at, but not the best way to handle that
He literally gathers during that “third step”. That’s the gather step, google it
Nothing new for him, this is regular for him. Always talks shit about opposing teams
In my 20+ years a Knicks fan he’s talked the same or more shit about the Knicks than the opposing teams
Magic are cursed
We already had a weird squad that sort of made it work, but now we’re down two starters, and Franz has his own history of serious injuries.
Seen this, came to talk on reddit about and I see JDub break his ankle. What the fuck is going on?!
That’s what I came to talk about. Eyes immediately got blasted with that jdub injury
Bad mistake from Clyde
It’s non contact but it looks like he hyper extended it. It’s possible that it’s not ACL/MCL
I’m really hoping that the case, I only saw hyper extension and no lateral movement so that’s good
He was squeezing the f out of it on the floor tho and pushing his thumbs deep in to his thigh. Can’t imagine that is what a doctor would advise in that scenario but maybe I’m confidently incorrect
Yeah man you can’t really do anything to the ligament structures in your knee by squeezing them. Give it a shot yourself
The sequence right before looks nearly identical to Moses Moody’s Patellar Tendon rupture:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wm3ebS2eWIs
Hopefully for Jalen it’s not a rupture.
Damn you’re right it looks eerily similar
I’m thinking patellar tendon
Yeah reminds me of the Andre Roberson injury, gear up to jump and knee gives out
Yep, Jeremy Lin also.
The Magic didn’t even make it one week man
I dont understand how this stuff happens on a routine play
wet floor
The floor was sooooo wet tonight. People were slipping everywhere! And Paolo wasn’t even out there over sweating! What’s up with that?
Between these two injuries tonight and the whole Jalen Hurts situation, if you have a loved one named Jalen, no matter how it’s spelled, please check in on them and make sure they are ok.
Rose be ok
The universe finally watched this video and decided enough is enough
Clyde, what are you thinking?
these clips looking like the zapruder film
I think Magic might be a mistranslation of Cursed.
What an insane night of injuries
This season fucking sucks
the Jalen curse
Chill don’t put that evil juju on Brunson
Someone go bubble wrap Johnson too while we’re at it
what is happening today
Watch out if your name is Jalen tonight
Oh man what an awful night In the league
he felt it when he went up after jumping, thats brutal
Stop the injuries please this is not okay 💔💔💔
Grim reaper is active tonight wtf
This was his good knee. Praying this is somehow just a bad hyper extension but it looks like a devastating injury. Feel so bad for Suggs he is snake bitten with injuries.
Fuck that looks like what happened to Moody last season. It’s depressing that he and Jalen Williams got seriously hurt with two minutes left in the game
Call your legs and tell them you love them
ngl that might be wraps on Suggs in a magic uniform
fuck man
His play style is already super demanding and the injuries are more and more serious every time.
If it’s an ACL I agree he’s probably done in any serious capacity
Done is an exaggeration but his days as a starter are probably over if that is the case. Could still be a nice rotation guard.
