Love AR.But all that matters to me is his legs come playoff time

CutLonzosHair2017 [OP] | LAL

51 | 9 hours ago

I get what you’re saying, but it wasn’t his legs. It was his oblique. Which is a flukey injury.

closing-the-thread | LAL

33 | 8 hours ago

True but AR’s main problem throughout his career in the playoffs is that come playoffs time his legs get tired (as he tries hard to not be too much of a liability on defense) and it effects is shooting in general.

CutLonzosHair2017 [OP] | LAL

23 | 8 hours ago

He was toughing it out it last season. He came back in just over 3 weeks. Normal timelines were around 8 weeks for his injury. The prior season he had turf toe. Same situation. His endurance is not the issue. He’s had 2 extremely flukey injuries right at the end of the last two regular seasons and toughed it out rather than sit.

Parallel-Quality

56 | 9 hours ago

He did this last year too to start the season.

He’s superstar-level good at getting to the line which bumps his TS%, and then he’s also very good from 3.

effurshadowban

28 | 8 hours ago

Nah, he was averaging 17 FGAs last year before his injury. AR has taken a max of 13 FGAs this season so far. There were only 3 games in that period that he took so few shots. He scored 13, 26, and 16 in those games.

This level of efficiency is actually insane, even for him. Just looks effortless.

arinawe

Also, he looks slower, more assured and yet I thought it was mostly his jerky style that threw defenders off

Stuff like this is so impressive to me in modern nba. Casuals say everyone chucks shots with no meaning and then you point to a 6’5 guard who is doing this. Their path to success was always on offense of course and if they keep this pace up they might exceed my expectations.

Crazy how there’s genuine okc fans who think ajay better lmao. Reaves came back from injury early to try and help the team and it ruined his PR

Excellent-Age-296 | LAL

14 | 9 hours ago

If Ajay were on the Jazz for example (not backed up by that great OKC team), there’s no way some people would be even remotely comparing the two.

homeincomes | MIA

-6 | 5 hours ago

Austin also benefits from being on a team with Luka and has benefited from playing alongside AD, Bron and Luka. You naturally have bias.

Excellent-Age-296 | LAL

3 | 5 hours ago

Austin is not a bench player.

Look up Austin’s stats whenever he’s been the #1 option with Luka and/or LeBron out over the past three seasons, since his usage breakout. He tends to go crazy.

Impressive_Chard7943

2 | 5 hours ago

By that logic so has Steph f’n Curry you dummy

Wavepops

-11 | 8 hours ago

Ajay would look better on the jazz or another team where he gets to have more usage. I think reaves is the better player but Ajay has a route to surpassing reaves based on his two way ability

Excellent-Age-296 | LAL

6 | 8 hours ago

Agreed that Ajay would really help a team if he were a starter with useage. However, that route and result have yet to be proven.

Yes, AR is the better player, scoring extremely efficiently (he could average 28-30 if he had #1 usage) while also being an elite playmaker.

Wavepops

-3 | 8 hours ago

Similarly reaves hasn’t shown the ability to keep his body together for usage that high.

califbreeze | LAL

1 | 8 hours ago

Not every player benefits off having more touches, in fact some take a huge leap backwards. Just off recent championships look at Bruce Brown, Jordan Poole etc.

Do you really think Derrick White would look better on the kings? No he’d probably average more counting stats but his efficiency and play style would take a dip.

Wavepops

0 | 7 hours ago

Ajay doesn’t seem like he would. Against yall every time he tried to do anything it worked, he took steps back so that Sga could do his thing. Also Derrick white doesn’t have the burst in the half court to be a primary option, Ajay has shown that potential. Ajay weakness is his jumper isn’t on the level of a reaves or a d white

A_Lakers | LAL

A_Lakers | LAL

IntroducingTongs

-4 | 9 hours ago

Yeah that’s crazy. Probably only saying that because Ajay played the Lakers off the floor in a four game sweep come playoff time but yeah

Excellent-Age-296 | LAL

16 | 9 hours ago

Austin Reaves is picking up where he left off before last season’s calf injury. If not for the missed time, he would’ve finished at around 27/5/8 on 65% TS, the Lakers would’ve won 60 games instead of 53, and he’d have been an All-Star and All-NBA.

There is no reason to believe otherwise.

His individual defense also gets better when he’s backed up by a defensive center and at least one POA defender.

Through 3 games, Austin Reaves is averaging 26.6 PPG on just 12 field goal attempts per game. His True Shooting percentage is 82%.
