Him and Okogie, jesus christ

Jazz had a massive rebound advantage this game, JJJ rebounding was not an issue today. The stupid fouls on the other hand

My favorite JJJ stat is that his career high in rebounds is 15. For reference, Muggsy Bogues career high is 10. Lmfao.

“But the defensive schemes don’t allow him to-“ man shut the hell up he needs to take his big ass and go get some damn boards

I want a face-off between John Collins and JJJ to see which one of them can go longer without being able to control their bodies in the vicinity of a basketball.

Battle of the century in my view.

i feel like I need to precontext every comment with, I love trip, he was the reason I started following this team when I started watching but BOY does it feel good to not sit through those kinda moments with him now.

Honestly, when they traded him to the Jazz, the idea of him alongside Kessler seemed perfect, Jaxson Hayes is not a starting caliber player to put alongside him, Nurkic is nice but also aging and missing time, the Jazz need to find that frontcourt pairing or they will be doomed to feel our same frustrations.

Side note, Ace Bailey is like really good

I’m 100% positive I would get more rebound in 33 minutes if I played. Now the rest of the game would be pretty ugly…

??? Weird thing to mention when he was very far from being bad today, why are Memphis fans so incredibly insufferable about JJJ ? We got him for his defense and offense, we have plenty of rebounding otherwise. For the love of god just leave it lmfao

79 games more.

Undefeated in the Luka era

Champions no but #1 offense is in play

lakers won while being outrebounded 30-51 damn

If only the Lakers had 2 of the best 3 level scoring guards in the league

that only show why Kessler is so important piece for LAL. ‘Oh no, you figured out how to box our center out, what can we do with this?’.He create loads of space which work freakin’ well with their backcourt (possibly best backcourt in league; front does not have to score but make space and create chaos in paint… and rebound obv). And Mamu is also great there :)Frankly snowtime lakers are scary (yes, I know that they do not go with this first 5 but it is still great meme name and I will keep using it), I do hope that there will be no injuries because they play just fun ball for me and can do some real good playoff run.

Yeah I kind of made a tongue in cheek comment about it, but if Walker has a bad game on paper it probably means our perimeter was eating real good. Also if any actual league exec sees that and thinks it’s because he’s bad they’re an idiot. Well, probably a good portion are idiots

They completely sold out to stop Kessler, we just couldn’t punish them enough to make them stop.

Hardy definitely know how to neutralize Kessler tonight.

it felt like they were preparing for this while he is on the team.

Yeah I was amazed Mamu held his ground, but that’s not sustainable. Lakers could’ve retained Jax for the same amount tho.

Haven’t watched any games this year but is Looney not that playable

Mamu held his own last game too for a few stretches. Looney only played 5 minutes last game.

I hate how our team just always needs a center. We finally got our premier center and now our biggest weakness is his backup lol

They signed him to be a backup ⁴⁄₅. He’s 6-10, 240.

I think there’s a chance Adou will get the backup C minutes when he recovers.

And once again, the Lakers need a backup Center.

watching looney tonight was pure pain

Mamu looks like he can be a serviceable small ball 5, but it’s terrible for the Lakers and Mamu to have to rely on that. Laker fans to this day are complaining about getting a starting 4, or an actual 3 and D wing (which I think we are fucking heavy at and they’re sorting their Laker feed by hot or something). Really, I think we have a decent committee of 4s but we really need another 5. Also, pulling in a backup 5 solves whatever 4 deficiencies there are

I think Mamu at the five is workable if we are big everywhere else. Having Jake and Ziaire and Luka plus one more big wing would work.

Some other dude made a post laughing at the lakers for being down 17 in the 1st quarter.

Rent freeeeeeeeeeee

I was waiting for the highlight of that flagrant foul that never came.

No one on the team can screen properly with Nurkic out. It’s an issue, the offense has looked notably off at points and I think that’s why. Hopefully once he gets healthy we’ll see the offense as it’s supposed to look.

On another note, Keyonte is really f-ing good and I was quite impressed by the rookie Peterson as well. Did not know Jazz had a good squad going

They were pulling Kessler out of the paint. Their entire game plan was to neutralize him. Didn’t double any of our guards so they couldn’t PnR with him at all. The result is our guards got 80 and they were able to penetrate and foul bait.

Lauri always looks to me like someone who contenders that are missing a piece (stretch ⁴⁄₅) should want. We used to call KP the white unicorn, but for whatever reason LM is relegated to the dog house for being on bad teams while putting big numbers up.

afraid of the physicality and not positioning himself well to start. it sucks

There are several reasons the Grizz went for a full rebuild and it wasn’t just Ja’s availability.

Two rebounds is kind of hilarious with his minutes played because it’s actually kinda hard not to just get a couple by accident. Hardly any starters average 2 rebounds because usually like 3-5 will just end up in your vicinity regardless of what you do. 2 is borderline on purpose man.

Yet somehow the Grizzlies gave him a max contract and then the Jazz decided “hey, let us pay that max contract”.

Having said, I think he can be an effective player on any team, just not max contract worthy.

Timing, positioning, and anticipation are skills for rebounding. See rodman.

If only they could pair him with a young center who can rebound at an elite level.

First 50 piece of the season

People don’t want to credit AR for being just as good as a partner next to Luka as Kyrie was. Yep Kyrie definitely was better at creating his shot, but AR is a beast of a playmaker

Haha this would be the funniest strategy ever. Opponents would need to pay fans to do the opposite.

“Great shot, Luka”.

“You’re the goat!”

“Devin Booker sucks!”

When will fans learn? YOU DONT HECKLE LUKA

THE best back court.

I mean remove the 1st quarter and the defense was solid

It’s the rebounding that’s the true problem. Jazz got a TON of offensive boards

Defense takes longer to come together in a new team vs a Luka Doncic led offense. If we’re still giving up 120 ppg at the tail end kf the season consistently, then we can worry.

and a backup C

Yeah we should trade him for some cookie

only +3 on the night. Is 50 points even good if you make so little difference overall?

When Reaves and Luka combine for 81 Kessler doesn’t have to do much

He wasn’t great but this is always how Kessler games are gonna go. Jazz sold out on stopping lobs and dump offs by really pinching into the lane. It’s part of the reason Ziaire and Thybulle combined to shoot 14 threes. Kessler is never going to be the key creating his own shots on this team. Also, Jaren Jackson’s entire job defensively was to just box out Kessler. He didn’t even look to go for rebounds.

It was a good plan by Utah.

Jazz pack the paint and neutralize Kessler’s ability.

but yea that’s also why Lakers are able to shoot so many wide open 3s

It goes both ways, i like that when 1 underperforms (i.e Luka last game) the rest covers them

Its October. All is forgivable when we’re 3-0

Kessler being clamped give the others a lot of open shots in the minutes he was in the game

He did play bad for sure, but to be fair Utah packed the shit out of the paint and just conceded open 3’s

Sandwhiched between jjj and lauri all game lol

Jazz threw bodies at him and packed the paint. But that also meant less bodies and more space for Luka and AR. JJ adjusted well enough to capitalize on the Jazz’s mistakes down the stretch

I don’t think he played bad. But within what the defense was giving the team. Still managed to grab 7 boards.

That’s insane rebounding difference lmao

I wouldn’t believe it either, because it didn’t happen lol

Rebounds were 31 to 51 (which is still crazy and your point still stands)

Jazz have a serious defense problem that is going to require some roster changes

Jazz honestly got lucky to get away with so much they were blatantly taking down Lakers players, Hardy had a challenge the whole time and never even had a call to consider in the 2nd half.

I have a feeling they were told to “set a physical tone” because early in the they had three dumb fouls off just shoving players going over screens.

Many fouls were legit and the result of bad defense, stupidity or both from the Jazz.  Many fouls were also bs that wouldn’t have been called against pretty much anyone else. Two things can be true.

their best guards are still young undisciplined players. Ace cooked us but could not help himself on defense. Same thing with Keyonte.

Sure, there were stupid fouls and the Jazz can’t defend for shit. There were also a lot of fouls where someone was just standing near Luka or Reaves and they got free throws.

No other team feels the need to make preemptive posts because no other benefits as much as the Lakers do

So true and it also happens every single game in every single season so there’s really no reason to doubt the Lakers’ free throw differential being massively skewed ever really

You must have an incredible amount of bias. As a neutral fan the lakers got a way better whistle all game long lol

If I was still a betting man it would’ve been the easiest over in the world after last game

He needs to get more of Collier’s minutes.

This is how Hardy has kinda always handled rookies, especially to start the year. Limited responsibility but putting different points of emphasis across stretches of games. It worked great for Ace and Key at least

It’s the same as Ace Bailey last year. He’ll barely do anything this season, but he’ll probably be a beast next year.

Tbf he struggled to create separation when he had the ball

Cant increase usage when the player himself acts like he is allergic to it. DP is straight out declining shots and Hardy has already voiced a few times that he wants him to be more aggressive.

I believe DP is simply “aware of the vets” and thus chooses to defer, since his HS/KU resume don’t really paint a picture of someone afraid to score. He will find his rhythm and increase his role when he does.

Going to a team where they have a Keyonte George and others his first year was already gonna be a wash. Would’ve loved to see him in a role like Acuff is getting but he clearly was not getting that Utah. They already had a foundation.

LeRope

Honestly I don’t think so. We had some really good battles back last season. Now 2 or 3 years ago? Yeah those guys would have given up

LeLakers

Does it have to do with someone who left?

Trade so terrible the Mavs gave up the guy they traded him for for pennies on the dollar just to get the stench of it out of the organization

If he doesn’t win a chip the Mavs is still going to be on the right side of the history

AR pretty much held the winning window open within the first half, so props to him too.

? Lots of players played amazing today.

Matisse was a demon on defense.

Zaire hit a lot of needed shots. Took a meaningful charge near the end.

Mamu played great.

Austin carried the 3rd quarter.

Really don’t see how you come out of that game saying this.

I don’t know about single handily. Ar and mamu got us back into the game in 2Q scoring wise and you have williams and thybulle putting up some pretty good defense in that quarter

Yeah I can’t agree with him single handedly winning the game. Luka was awesome in the 2nd half but a lot of that come back came in the 2nd quarter when Luka was on the bench and AR caught fire

He went from looking uninterested in the first quarter to mvp the rest of the game

His first quarter was rough and Ace Bailey exploited him, but then Luka locked in and played like the mvp.

MVP run

Took him 2 games to find his rhythm again lol

I’ll never get over the fact Nico Harrison just gave yall him on a silver platter with the “post LeBron lakers status” looming over pelinkas head

haha you didnt watch the game

“Single handedly”

Reaves had 29 points. What are you even talking about?

luka was making everything even with key in his mouth lol, hes just like that

The Jazz literally could not breathe on the lakers without them calling the foul, what the fuck did you watch?

Those people weren’t real NBA fans to begin with

They what

I think Luka’s more of a cutie

He’s always been hot wdym
