I’m looking into fire doors for a renovation project and keep coming across FD30 and FD60 ratings. I understand that they relate to fire-resistance periods, but I’m not sure how to determine which rating is appropriate for each opening.

I’d also like to understand whether you can get fire doors that look similar to regular internal doors, rather that having a completely different style throughout the house.

If you’ve dealt with fire doors during a renovation, what should i check before ordering?

for domestic work it’s almost always fd30 unless your plans or building control specifically call out fd60, which they probably won’t for a standard house. and yeah you can get them in styles that match regular doors, just look for ones with the same veneer or paint grade as the rest of your place
