Hello,

Need some help trying to put a tire rack. I need to place of the brackets between two studs and not sure how to reinforce the area properly.

Do I just put a 2x4 across both studs and just screw it in? Is that strong enough? Should I use a thicker screw? Worried that the pieces will be torn right out cause of the screws.

i mean theoretically you could use a 2x4 and lag bolts into the studs, this is how i hang my bike on the wall, i dont know if it will hold a tire rack

that is really heavy why do you want to mount it in the air? cant you just stack them on the ground? i just stack mine on top of each other, rims on, no issues

or at least tire rack flat on the ground

Can’t you just drill new holes in the rack where your studs are? And use lag bolts, not screws and pre-drill.
