2000s playoff defense was on another level lol, prime shaq would average 60 today
Defensively he can be average if he tries, his biggest problems are offensively is his lack of drawing FT’s to keep his game consistent (he’s a 90% free throw shooter)and give him energy to rest, and he’s not very good at getting the ball to half court, if you pick him up halfway he’ll kind of back you up and spend way too much energy just to bring the ball up (hence why OKC are such a tough matchup for him), he’s much more of a SG with top tier shooting that needs a setup than a PG to bring the ball up which we’ll play him as often.
Things I wish he’d do more often:
Go for layups more (which will help him draw more fouls as a result)
Go for midrange less
Bounce the air out of the ball for an entire possession before throwing a shot up last second less
Move way more, he shot better from 3 last year than Curry, if he incorporated more movement and made the defense work and follow him, he’d be a nightmare to deal with.
So funny I know every time he catches the ball w 11 seconds left and he does that low slow dribble he’s shooting the first thing he thinks of lol
Jamal Murray is honestly one of my favorite players in the league. Inconsistent at times and throws up some very interesting shots(alot of which land too). Gives me shades that remind me of Curry. I actually just found out that he’s somehow been nicknamed Maple Curry

Real talk though, seeing Jamal bounce off OKC reminded me exactly of how AR bounces off of OKC so at the very least they are similar lol.
AR15 is more consistent and yes over the course of the regular season a little better than Murray, obviously Murray has the higher ceiling and is way better in the playoffs.

Averaged 20/4/6 in the 2026 playoffs while coming off an injury early to try and help LeBron. He’s a better passer, playmaker, and processor of the game. I’ll take Reaves over Murray on defense too even though they both leave a lot to be desired in that area.
