Couldn’t make that work, but this role suits him perfectly for a playoff series. 4⁄5 pitch mix, all good stuff that can keep hitters off balance, no matter how much you see him
Add that overhead arm slot when almost all of the other Brewer pitchers are coming at you from the side and it must be a fairly jarring adjustment to make
And for all the innings he’s pitched, teams are barely even seeing him. Like 2⁄3 of his innings are 3 up 3 down lol

Murphy would pitch Ashby every game if he could. If I had to guess, the only reason he doesn’t is that someone from the front office has to physically restrain him when he tries to get on the phone to the bullpen to warm Ashby up.

Never got close is a stretch.
In G4, he pitched 3 inning. The Dodgers had multiple extra base hits against Ashby — and hits balls with exit velocities of 95, 99, 108, 110, and 111. Twice they had a man on 3rd with 1 out. They did not score a run.
Hes been very good and a bit fortunate at times too. That’s usually the case when someone has a scoreless innings streak like this.
