Ashby has now gone 20.2 innings without allowing a single run.
Ice water in his fucking veins
That curveball right down the dick was crazy. He was in Yandys head big time.
“You won’t toss me a meatball on a 3-1 count in the 9th.”“Fucking bet.”
Then you hit ‘em with the mind bender.
Don’t think, just throw.
That was one of the nastiest middle middle curveballs I’ve ever seen
Turned my game off to go take a dump knowing Ashby was gonna seal it.
Dude is a beast.
Straight Cashby
I think technically the phrase is “He has ice water.”
E: /s it’s what Smoltz said. The “in his veins” part was just implied, I guess. Or Smoltz was just pointing out an unrelated man with ice water.
Down voters weren’t watching the game
Legit one of the greatest pitching performances in MLB postseason history
1⁄3 of an inning more and it’s a record
If we win he should get WS MVP
He’d certainly be deserving, but he’d have tough competition from Contreras
Used to pray for times like this
The amount of balls wild bill stopped tonight in the dirt is going to fly under the radar and that’s ok. Ashby and him can battle it out. Both incredible performances so far
Contreras
If we swept and he threw six more shutout innings I could see it. Contreras is red hot though and theres no way he’s cooling down at this point.
Steel nuts from Murph to not pull him after the lead off double.
Kinda psycho who just gets more motivated by a man on
Clutch cap at 125. Nah, it’s like 999.
“It’s time for Aaron Ashby to pitch”
I was pacing the living room hoping he would leave him in. Nothing but love for Trevor, but Ashby is on another planet right now.
Remember when he stranded a guy on third with one out in consecutive innings in Game 4 of the NLCS? Yeah, so does Murph.
Insane it is. He is their wildcard.
This is how World Series’ are won
Obviously the series is not over but the Rays had to win that game.
Up 4-0 from the get go with the chance to take a game on the road and go back to the Trop with the series tied, you have to take that opportunity
And their ace on the mound
That was their ace?
Yes. To be fair, this team is kind of on a “spoiling aces” run at the moment.
Rasmussen as an Ace is fucking with me a bit but he has our pedigree
😱 Yes….
yes
Feels like Brewers doing to the Rays what the Rays did to the Yankees. Any small mistake gets instantly punished. It’s suffocating
Ya it really hurts to get beat at our own freaking game. Hopefully coming home will let us pull it together. We have to win all three at home now.
It’s not a series until a team wins a road game. Whole lot to go.
yall are not getting swept at the trop let’s be real
yea I have run the numbers before and if the away team can win 1 of the first 2 games, they actually have what i call “away advantage” because the numbers switch hvaing those middle 3 games at home. unfortunately losing both of the first 2 games doesnt flip numbers in your favor, but thats just stats
As a Jays fan, I have no trouble imagining Tampa winning all three at home in that house of horrors.
Gonna be a ton of brewers fans there based on ticket sales
Any small mistake gets instantly punished.
Even with 2 outs already, I was pretty stunned that Simpson dropping that ball didn’t end up leading to runs.
That’s how the brewers are, you have zero margin for error against them
not letting anyone not named Ben Rice get a hit?
Defense lost them that one
That and cold bats after the first. Same as it ever was.
same as it ever was
When your whole team is defenders with 3 hitting specialists. Thats an issue.
Can’t believe I’m watching the Brewers celebrate like that while the Rays just let it slip through their fingers, that 4-0 cushion should’ve been a lock
Ask the Dodgers how a 4-0 lead went for them
If I had a nickel for every 4-0 hole the Brewers have crawled back from I’d have 2 nickels. Which isn’t a lot but’s it’s weird it happened twice
In the past 3 games, even!
Well I wouldn’t say lock but it shoulda been the start of a good night, not a complete meltdown.
You’d a 10-0 cushion to be safe from this Brewers lineup. Which is ofc impossible cause their pitching is too good
What do you want them to not celebrate after a comeback win?
I think he means it’s crazy the Rays got a 4-0 lead and yet the Brewers STILL came back and are the ones celebrating
Through their fingers? Im pretty sure I just watched the exact Buckner play reincarnate.
Future postseason Yankee Jonathan Aranda is responsible for three of those runs. Committing errors is deadly in this series.
Even yesterday. Both games were way too close to walk away with nothing.
But that’s also the good news for them. It means they’re right there with Milwaukee and can easily win 2 in a row themselves.
Rays have been almost dominant at home. Their team is built for the turf. The next few games will be interesting to see how the Brewers do
series is over let’s keep it a buck
And their ace pitching 😂
Brewers are now 6-1 in the postseason when the opponent scores first
Probably the most bonkers stat ever
They’re playing like they’ve been the best team in baseball all year, because they are.
Lmao it’s so funny how we were the best team all year, but it was only after sweeping the Dodgers that people gave us any respect
I saw Cubs fans who were hoping they’d end up facing us because they thought they’d get to end our season again, Padres fans were already talking about how good their series against the Dodgers will be, and the most respect I saw from Dodgers fans was saying they might lose game 1 because the Miz was pitching. You’d think we just stumbled our way in to the best record in baseball
When will they learn?
Brewers are 2-0 when they score first so the rays best bet is to score first.
And 1-0 in which neither team scores first apparently judging by our 9-1 record so far this postseason.
Well ummm… I wasnt including tonight’s game 😅
But they are 0-1 in games that they have less runs after 9 innings, so maybe the rays should try that?
7 comeback wins in the postseason
Wow
Credit the bullpen. The game is 9 innings long for the brewers and 6 for their opponents.
Literally took a controversial check swing call and the .05 millimeters between Pratt’s foot and 2nd base for the Brewers to give up their first run past the 6th inning in the entire postseason.
I like that saying
Reminds me of our 2014-2015 run with Wade Davis, Greg Holland and Kelvin Herrera.
https://www.mlb.com/news/three-headed-monster-kansas-city-royals-value-rare-bullpen-trio-of-kelvin-herrera-wade-davis-greg-holland/c-109708740
They were relentless in the regular season too. Reminds me of the 2016 Cubs in that way. No matter how far behind they get, they just never quit. It’ll also be easy to look back in hindsight and go “well yeah, the #1 team in baseball won the ws too” but because it’ll be their first, many bit their tongue through the season.
Hats off to the Brewers, its been a hell of a season. Time to finish the job.
WinOurWay
Our way is stressful
And plenty of blood pressure rising.
I still maintain that football and basketball are more physically impressive to watch, but neither of them makes me want to puke like baseball does.
That’s what the booze is for
the brewers threaten the entire game. its wild. you can never count them out
is that a record at this point?
What’s the record?
Yeah they truly are on a divine mission from the Ueck himself

Ahem…
That’s what they said
Turns out that mandate from Heaven was mistakenly delivered to the wrong recipients first (us)
In exchange for helping the pope with his cancer, God took away the divine mandate from the White Sox.
Can you hit dingers?
Constitution say you can,
And I can too
Aaron Ashby for MVP.
Would he be the first reliever to ever win it? Absolutely insane run he’s having.
Mo won it in 1999. 4-2⁄3 innings. 1 win. 2 saves in a 4 game sweep.
Contreras. That’s the name
Another stress free Brewers win
🫠totally!
No clenching necessary
No clenching, only clinching
2 more wins baby
WE ARE ON A MISSION FROM BOB
Man I hope you guys bring it home for him
4-0 is the most dangerous lead against the Brewers
Score first, score last, it matters not. Milwauktober happens all the same
Fuckin’ Wayne Arnold.
They have a winning record when their opponents score first. That is just insane.
they’ve lost one game, they’re going to have a winning record under most conditions lol
Regular season stat
that’s fair, my bad
Even down 4-0 I knew this game wasn’t over. No quit in this team, unbelievable ride they’re on
Started the game at a wedding, once they put 2 runs up in response, my blood pressure went down.
At that point I said to my dad, “I feel good about this.”
Exactly what happened in game 4 of the NLCS too lol. Got 2 runs back and suddenly its on
What a terrible time to have a wedding in Wisconsin. Poor folks. I’m sure most people in attendance were constantly checking the score/game
Especially since they just got done doing it to the Dodgers. This team is relentless
ever since the Pat-Murphy-gives-Lara-a-peptalk come from behind game against the Cubs, I never think we’re out of a game anymore
I had no doubts
Same as the Dodger game. Not a fucking doubt we’d win it. I’ve never felt more relaxed watching Brewer baseball.
Yea until the last inning, always lmfao
I’m tripping out man, I’ve never felt this confident about any team ever. The fact that it’s the BREWERS is just…man, I don’t even know lol
Not gonna lie, I had a few
I was with my buddy at a campfire and I asked what the score was, he said 4-0 in the top of the first but what’s that mean for the Brewers before?
Apparently nothing
Team used to be up 4-0 and I’d be nervous we blow it. Now we’re down 4-0, IN THE FIRST? No sweat.
the only way you’ll beat us is to walk us off in the 9th, and good fucking luck with that.
Makes you think the Brewers don’t think much about the numbers.
I knew once we cut it in half right away that we had a shot just needed to keep chipping away
Same thing as against LA, a 2 run lead is nothing against this team the way they’re playing right now.
I know that feeling. Even 15 years later.
Enjoy it. :)
my dad is a huge doomer but I called him as soon as they got two hits in the bottom of the 1st to tell him they were gonna do it
Relentless
Never doubted for a second. The only thing that was guaranteed after that first half inning was high blood pressure….Again
I was like, “They came back once, they can do it again!”
That’s right where ya wanted em
I told my co worker, in the first inning. We are not losing this game. And up here in Alaska everyone roots against my Brewers. Mother fuckers we won’t be denied.
Down with the doomers
Go team irresponsible optimism!
They stadium never waffled in their enthusiasm, it was just unreal.
The brewers are relentless
I was thinking earlier how nice it must be to root for a team that doesn’t just roll over at the slightest bit of adversity. I couldn’t imagine.
We also have the Packers though. So we see both sides.
Hey now, MLF learned to avoid a crap O-Line issue is to just sling that rock. We might not get last in the NFCN this year!
And then he’ll completely abandon the pass in the Divisional and try to force feed Marshawn Lloyd.
The Packers are funny, they learned to overcome all sorts of adversity in 2010 and then just decided to never do that again
the packers are a premier NFL team stop acting like Green Bay/Milwaukee isn’t one of if not the most consistent sports team areas in the US
not getting a super bowl isn’t not being premier , the packers are always good
This is unprecedented, hard to believe it is I wasn’t watching it with my own eyes. Another comeback W
it took many a years brother
It’s like lightning in a bottle, most of the years of my life watching this team we just get struck. Looks like this year we finally caught it though..
I can. Knicks in five
I was happy to see them win as my baseball team did nada during deadlines. Nice for Cam and Rice at least for their performances
Same, brother :(
Same
You mean there are options besides rolling over?
Hard to see Tampa taking even 1 game tbh. Brewers are just on a mission
From God?
Are we The Brews Brothers?
What a fucking game
Why do we always run into the team of destiny
Bc one of yours killed Steve Irwin
You know what…that’s fair
NeverForget
I think beer kills far more people than stingrays but what do I know
But beer did not kill Steve Irwin
Can you say unequivocally that the stingray wasn’t drunk?
That ray could’ve been drunk
But the people making the beers might not
She’s already killed Justin Herbert
Well tbf sun rays probaly close the gap a bit in the death counts
The real reason we’re bringing the Devil Rays back
Always a bridesmaid for the Rays unfortunately. They will taste glory one day. And this series isn’t over yet!
Shit ain’t over. Rays aren’t a fluke World Series team, they’re the real deal. Day off, veteran leadership, and a home crowd coming.
I wouldn’t prefer to be you if I were one of the two teams left, but I think people are overreacting.
If you don’t want overreactions why are you on Reddit 😅 /s
people are not overreacting brewers are gonna win game 3 best case scenario is a gentleman’s sweep
the brewers are on cruise control
Yeah the people saying it’s basically all over are making me super anxious. The baseball gods can be very fickle and the Rays are a very talented, gritty team so two losses isn’t going to shake their belief
I think both teams will be treating game 3 as if it’s game 7, if they get some momentum during their 3 home games it’ll be hard to stop them
Brother that has been the Brewers story line for like 8 years
It’s actually insane how they just won’t die
Literally the “Never say die” team, it’s incredible.
This Brewers team officially have the most comeback wins in modern day MLB postseason history. They are so fun to watch. Crew!!!! 2 more!!!
Brewers fans are obsessively loud. They don’t let their team lose
They paid too much to not be loud
Wait I thought they were all rich so they’re not gonna be loud?
Our fans can’t make up their minds on the narrative
THE ALCOHOL MAY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THAT
Hey, when the ticket is \(2500-5000, the \)18 beer feels free at that point lol
Idk how the bourgeoise handle games, but us peasants are hammered LONG before we walk past Bob.
Spoken truly like someone leaning to their friend’s ear in a loud bar (not that i’d know)
3⁄4 of that stadium are deep in the bag
WE ARE BREWERS! LET’s GO BREWERS!
underestimate. You have to assume anyone over 16 is pretty choked.
You can’t imagine how blue our balls are for a championship
I mean we got the Bucks 5 years ago at least. But now they’re in full rebuild mode and the Packers are stuck in purgatory, so we really need this
I think I’m a Brewers fan. What a great team to watch. Holy crap.
BrewJays!
That’s what I call it when I drink a beer while I smoke a joint
They are a lot of fun!
I guess we make sense as the second team for White Sox fans, the enemy of my enemy and all that
show us the swing!
edit: thank you I rest my doubts
They’ve really been shit with replays on close calls.
They had to zoom replay that shit make sure it wasn’t butchered first 😭
Can I interest you in more AI graphics and commercials?
Definitely didn’t break his wrists, was more a matter of whether the bat went too far through the zone or not. And even the side view angle we got wasn’t a particularly good look at it, it was too zoomed out. I don’t mind the real-time speed since that’s how the umpire saw it, but it looked like we were seeing it from further away, so I still dunno if he went too far or not.
yeah i changed my reply to another comment three times thinking about this exact problem. It really looks like he crosses home plate if that’s the metric of choice but it’s not definitive. Guessing based on the angles, I’d assume its a swing call 8-9⁄10 times
Yeah, if nothing else it sure looks like it’s right on that borderline where whichever call you get, it can be justified. Of course this has never been properly defined in the rulebook, but crossing the plate whether your wrists break or not more often than not gets called a strike. Tough break for the Rays but that’s how this sport goes so often.
Yeah, it goes both ways. Like what jomboy said, if you think it’s a swing it is if you don’t it’s not. However, I think the umps got it right since he did go pretty far. At least according to the arbitrary average standards set by previous calls.
After more replays looks like something happened with his wrists. But overhead view he traveled through the zone with the bat. Plus Yandy’s stance is so open it distorts the angles, so I’m sure the umpires have a benchmark they look for.
I’m more annoyed about the play at the plate with Churrio in bottom of the 8th…I thought he was safe
What if I told you breaking the wrists is no where in the rule book?
I haven’t seen it yet. Was it close or definitive?
Definitive, it didn’t look that way live though
Just saw it and that’s a strike majority of the time. Yandy does a good job of pulling up (literally lifting the bat up to slow down) and slowing the momentum on the 1B side angle but in the plate angle he definitely goes well into the area where they call it more times than not.
To me shows how fucking strong Yandy is to make it that close and control the bat like that.
I’m so bad about that. It always looks like they checked to me and the ump’s crazy to think they went, but then on the replay, “oh, oh no, it was all the way out there. The fuck was I thinking?”
The check swing might as well be a balk to me.
felt pretty definitive, angle wasn’t perfect
edit: yeah in my opinion it was a swing but i’ll wait for the reddit experts to confirm
Reddit experts are currently split 50⁄50
I’ve been pondering the frames and have with no credibility at all declared that this would be a swing 8-9 times out of 10
split 50-50 but equally confident. I’ve seen approximately one person call it close, which is what it was.
he almost swung to the first base foul line lol
Which one? The Yandy swing to end Game 2 or the Caminero swing to extend Game 1?
I just checked and Aaron Ashby is indeed related to Padres Legend Andy Ashby (nephew)
Release the triple chop cut.
I honestly think the brewers players simply have bigger dongs than any other team in the league
Big if true.
If anyone would know it would be you Jon
The Hank Aaron trail runs through our neighborhoods and hearts.
Game recognizes game.
True if big.
Hey, that’s me!
The Brewers are fucking immense
Aaron Ashby is illegal
Rays had several opportunities to add onto the lead both early and late. They’ve had chances to tie it. It just isn’t their year. Milwaukee is the team of destiny and they look like it.
Lets not forget the Brewers also left 12 on base themselves.
Fair enough but when they need runs they find a way. In every game this postseason so far, no deficit is too much for the Brewers
Except Game 3 against the Padres
To be fair, it was one time so far…
And had 3 hard hit balls caught at the wall.
Just the 9th inning alone, they got a lead off double and he only managed to get to third.
Edit: one if biggest “pet peeves” in baseball is when a lead off XBH that does score. It’s basically a lay up!
Yeah 2026 Brewers are unstoppable. Their ace is throwing long-relief innings and it doesn’t even matter. Rays will be lucky to win 1. It feels like you could assemble a super team of all-decade guys and the Brewers would still sweep them, you know?
The Good Land
they played like the Dodgers. if the Rays lose, Andrew Friedman would be on a mission next year haha
Brewers have made all of their opponents in the postseason look like this. Padres, Dodgers, Rays. I think there’s a point when it’s less about their opponents and more about Milwaukee being THAT good right now
lets not disgrace the brewers like that
True. Also doesn’t help that the umps don’t know what a check swing is. What a terrible way to end a great game
The Milwaukee Brewers are the New York Knicks of sports
Everyone should be more like the Knicks of sports (except when it comes to ownership)
I still cant believe that ring phishing bullshit.
I know it’s typical evil cartoon billionaire shit I have come to expect from him over the years
Do you really think a billionaire is coming up with phishing tests himself?
That was some IT dork that thought he was clever.
oh, it’s so much worse https://www.wired.com/story/madison-square-garden-celebrity-database-surveillance/
(By posting this there’s a non-insignificant chance I can no longer go to shows at Radio City Music Hall. I’m not exaggerating.)
I sent that one to my local sports friend group
Oh my God the phishing story is actually insane
I can’t even imagine getting an email and feeling like all the work you put in was worth it only to be sent to corporate trainin
Our owner steals sand so James could learn a thing or two from Mark
NBA fans bitch about their owners but apparently even winning a ring can’t get an owner any praise.
this brings me joy, as a knicks fan
But their owner won’t phish the back office with a promise of a ring
I like this comparison
Feels like I’m watching an all time run. Like Davis said, it feels like there’s no deficit they can’t overcome
How about we not test that
