Hi, does anyone have recommendations for quiet (no pinging) individual hardwired electric baseboard heaters? Our house costs a ton to heat in the dead of winter so we have two wood burning stoves, but a couple of the bedrooms get freezing cold overnight. We are looking to supplement with individual hardwired electric baseboard heaters (not plug in space heaters for safety reasons) in those rooms that do NOT make pinging noises. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

The pinging is the expansion and contraction of the metals in the heater. You’re not going to get away from that with an electric heater.

You could try an IR heater; it heats you instead of the room.

I assume you mean infrared. Do you know of any that can be installed on the wall and hardwired?

Yes infrared. There are some that can be mounted to a wall. A simple search shows that hardwired ones tend to be about 10k watts and 240V, probably a bit excessive for a bedroom. Any reason you don’t want to use an outlet next to where you’d mount one?

Also, have you checked for insulation in the subloor and walls?

I put cadet softheat ones in my bedroom and theyre silent. hydronic not the regular element type. took maybe an hour to wire up

gotta say though the wood stove thing is classic. i grew up in a house like that and my room was always the one freezing its ass off while the living room was 85 degrees

The oil filled radiator style space heaters might be worth looking into.

I have an envi wall heater for my kids rooms. It plugs in and mounts to the wall and is much safer than space heater. It doesn’t get too hot to touch and it won’t burn anything in front of it. Also quiet.

Yes. Cadets are pretty good none of mine make much noise. But my favorite are my Dimplex ,they were life changing. Not a whimper from them. Totally different way of heating. They’re smaller per watt. Example all other are 48” for 1000 watts. Dimplex are 36” for 1000 watts. Also the way they heat is directed is straight up which is more efficient. Mine are over 15 years old. Also buy the thermostats that kept a constant temp, no off and on. The electricity savings is amazing. Amazon has the best pricing on them. Seriously check them out. Avoid King at all costs.
