He’s special

The great part to me is he didn’t force the issue. It was basically the same motive as the first two games which was to play solid difference and make quick decisions when he touched the ball. It really seems like he’s accepting whatever comes on offense but really buckling down on defense.

Also, shout out to Anfernee. Never seen him pass before LOL.

When they added LeBron there were a decent amount of people on here saying they “felt bad” for VJ and I just didn’t understand it. He was always going to be a big part of this. His development isn’t on hold because they added two superstars.

I don’t see how anybody beats the sixers 4 times in 7 games. Obviously getting to the playoffs with lebron and embiid healthy is the biggest factor but this team just has too many weapons to be beaten in a 7 game series. If the sixers don’t win the championship this year then im not sure when it’ll happen

There’s a world where if this team makes the finals he could play well enough to be the MVP. His effort every game is an invaluable asset to the team

I completely understand the NBA trying to do everything to curtail tanking at the level it’s gotten. Yet, when you see a player like VJ Edgecombe, I’m sorry, but you can’t help but feel this is why it’s worth it.

And that’s me saying it, living in a Philadelphia suburb, which, even as a big sports market, is still low enough on that list that not even this city is typically a free agent destination for basketball If other markets like New York, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, or even the Texas cities with no tax are options.

He also helped them beat the Milwaukee Bucks, a team that, had they not drafted Giannis, there is no way he’s going to that city in free agency if he had the choice, and everybody knows that. They didn’t tank for him and he wasn’t a top 10 pick, so yeah, sometimes you hit BIG regardless, but that still emphasizes how vital the draft is for the NBA.

Sixers drafted VJ specifically because a lot of his strengths were off the ball - rebounding, defense, connective passing, catch and shoot potential. They’re hoping the on-ball stuff - ball handling, shot creation - comes along.

The speed in which he develops the on-ball stuff may be slowed down, but he’s still very much capable of playing to his strengths.
