Players are going to do this because they get away with it more often than they don’t. Only way to fix this is to have a replay system to eject players that runs in the background of games. I.e. the game isn’t interrupted, but if replay assist deems it a flop, it’s an ejection. Multiple time offenders face multiple game suspensions.

embiid doesnt flop on no contact. once he feels contact, he flails or goes down. ive always considered that to make sense, as i watched shaq for well over a decade not do that, and he would get hit all the time with no call because his large ass wouldnt budge on contact and refs are dumb. this wasnt so bad in shaq’s case bc he was a trash FT shooter. but for big guys that can shoot FTs, if they don’t flail on contact, there are tons of points left on the board bc refs would otherwise miss calls on them where they don’t budge.
also it’s an insult to embiid’s flailing to call this an embiid. bro didnt do it right, you’re supposed to go down WITH the contact, not a full second after it.
My problem with Embiid, as a diehard Sixers fan, is that when he feels contact he makes no attempt to actually make the shot at least 75% of the time it feels like. So when he doesn’t get the call it’s an automatic turnover. He had at least one tonight where he didn’t even look at the basket. Like I get it, you are accentuating the contact, but at least try to take a legitimate shot attempt.
This is just a manifestation of some of the flop karma Embiid has sent into the universe over the course of his career.
