well i hope you learned something about keeping a fire extinguisher around. they are like $15.
but also i am a little concerned about the flames being outside the combustion chamber. even before i knew this video would involve fire i was thinking “damn this guy’s timing sounds fucked up”
is your timing fucked up? because even if there is gasoline laying all over the outside of your engine, it really shouldn’t catch on fire that fast unless fire is able to escape the combustion chamber. perhaps by a valve being open at a time when it should be keeping fire inside.
i had a leaky carb spacer and i had a small pool of fuel on my intake manifold driving around every day for like 2 years, and it never caught on fire. because the flames were inside the engine where they belong. because my timing isn’t fucked up. know what i mean? hope that makes sense. glad you’re ok
This exactly. I had the same car as OP. Often fuel all over the intake manifold because of a bad carb inlet. Never caught on fire. My timing was correct. Always. I had a fire extinguisher in the car though just in case.
