Lesson Learned
Either put another double side tape or any tape actually work it will be loose but work
When I use them I mount them to a piece of lexan or plexiglass, then attach that to my surface or put silicone feet if loose on a bench.
I have a couple of old breadboards where the adhesive dried out and the backing fell off.

I guess, why did you even attempt to learn this lesson?
Put another way, why are you sticking glue into your breadboard?
And yeah, I guess - don’t do that. :-)
Edit: Why the hate (-18 downvotes when I ask)? It was a question purely out of curiosity and completely innocent.
Most breadboards (no one can truly know all breadboards) have a foam base that is double sided adhesive foam. One side is already stuck to the bread board and contacts, the other side still has the coated paper covering. If you remove the covering you can stick the breadboard down to a surface. No glue needed.

Mine are all as you describe - but yeah, don’t remove the sticky cover sheet - unless you are absolutely certain that you want it to be stuck in place forever more for some reason.
Even if you want them to be placed side by side, the little notches and pins along the edges of the boards are a better option IMHO.
Any breadboard I’ve used like this has double sided adhesive on the back
Mine are like that also, but I try to not remove it. The other side (i.e. the exposed side) still has the removable protective sheet covering the sticky side. So double sided sticky foam one side stuck to the board, the other side with its “sticky cover sheet” still in place.
He glued the breadboard and then tried to remove it. That’s the tape provided with the board.
