He used to get clowned a lot his first NBA stint. I’m really glad to see him back in the league and having matured as a person and player so far.

You know hes absolutely right and if theyre going to win it all you neeed everyone. Now if hezonja consistently fails against a mismatch then yeah you call for the ball but how did mario handle it? He crushed the mismatch Im assuming.

hickok3 | TOR

Iirc he scored on the possesion he waived Mitchell off on. I remember them talking about it on the way to the bench after a timeout was called by Philly, but can’t remember if it was the same possesion or not.

But he did take a couple ill-advised iso shots as well.

Eagerbeaver98 | TOR

Thats fine, as long as he scored on the mismatch, that was indeed the correct play to waive off his teammate.

NeverNotOnceEver | GSW

It’s actually fine if he didn’t. Making the right read is more important than always making the shot.

Hezonja seems like a great get for the Cavs. They’ve low key missed Georges Niang and Mario seems to bring a lot of the same outspokenness, size, physicality and skill, but with more athleticism.

Now I realize he’s the king of all the role players and might be a lot more than just that too.

iidesune | WAS

Hezonja is a proven winner in the Euro league. A league where they actually play defense and players can be ran out of town for missing big shots against rivals. So yeah I trust his basketball instincts.

I remember when he would try to be a ball dominant player. He has matured into a positive impact, all about the team kind of guy. Rooting for him

Mario Hezonja on waiving off Donovan Mitchell: “I told him you’re not supposed to bring the ball up under pressure. I waived JT out to go 1-on-1 against my mismatch. I spoke to James and Donovan, there’s 5 of us on the court and you need to read those mismatch situations.”
