we hope so too, we’d like him to retire as a Knick…

Cmon, why would you ruin the fun for other fans making up bad trade scenarios for KAT?

Knicks might call his bluff because I can’t think of any team that would want Kat and has the cap space.

Next season? Like 5+ teams will have space, even more because teams move contracts and do all sorts of deals

I think bulls, Hornets, Warriors?

A handful will have max space, even more could free it up, and even more have enough salary to make a S+T work.

There’s a surprising amount of money and flexibility available around the league next off season.

Warriors would do it

The Nets have max and he was a nets fan growing up and he probably wouldn’t have to move at all.

There are teams that can, but they shouldn’t. If this was all gamed out he should pick up his player option and then sign in 2028 with the Clippers who only have 20M currently on their books that year.

Our front office has been preaching cap space and flexibility in the future to sign free agents. And we’ll have cap space this summer with Jimmy, Draymond, and Porzingus coming off the books

However i highly doubt KAT would want to come here if its just 39 yr old Steph, Yaxel, and Podz

I think the Pelicans should work real hard to get KAT.

Cap Space can and will be able to be made for a player of this caliber

Knicks Should trade him

KAT, Steph and old man Jimmy…

They might as well sign Brook Lopez to the max knowing how shit they’re handing contracts out.

He’s 100% opting out if they don’t reach an agreement, picking up that option is stupid, a team will 100% give him way more in a longer deal, he will be 31, this is the time u sign a 4 year big deal

All this is posturing and they will extend though

Why not? I would think he’d get 55+ locked up for 4 years if he did opt out

How is this even upvoted? He is 100% opting out unless he has a potential career ending injury

He would if he can get 4 more years

Because 4 year 220m+ > 1 year 61m

In that one year u can get an awful injury, decline, anything can happen

do you want 61m now and risk being injured/playing poorly and hampering your value or would you like to sign a new deal that GARAUNTEES you minimum 200 million over the next for years.

Because he could have a serious injury. A lot of desperate teams would offer him big money even if he has a bad year this year.

Anything under 240 feels like a win IMO

Why not? He could opt out and sign -a ⁴⁄₂₂₀ or whatever pretty easily I’d expect

It does make sense if another team’s offering $55-60m for 4 years in free agency, especially since it’ll be his age 32-35 seasons
