How Am I Supposed to Clamp Flex Hose Tubing After Cutting It?
There are special clamps for flex hose but just tighten till you cant, it works all the same.

Why are you yelling
DUST COLLECTOR IS ON.
LOUUUD NOOOOISES!
It looks like you’re yelling, Donut.
Carl?
Damn! People are smart.
It just won’t. You’re trying to clamp a circle on a spiral. Crank it down and hope for the best, or buy some specific clamps that are designed for this
Helix*
Second definition:
helix/hē′lĭks/
nounA three-dimensional curve that lies on a cylinder or cone, so that its angle to a plane perpendicular to the axis is constant.
A spiral form or structure.
The folded rim of skin and cartilage around most of the outer ear.
All squares are rectangles…
Yeah its a 3 dimension spiral. Like a pyramid is a triangular form. It’s not a triangle. It’s a pyramid.
Yeah I bought the clamps from Oneida, and their site literally has a page on how to cut this tubing. What the actual fuck
Just choke the clamp up so there’s some hose sticking out of the bottom and send it. It’s what it is. The pricy ones are sold separately and have an offset that lets them kind of follow the spiral
These are the right ones. Just be aware there are two versions for left and right hand spirals.
Be aware the proper clamps for this come in bot right and left handed orientation and aren’t interchangeable
If you want the right clamps, they typically look something like this:

$28 for a 4”!!!
Ignore this one and the price. I just clicked on the first one I found as an example of what to look for. But yeah, the price here is kind of stupid. TBH I didn’t even look at the price until your comment.
I’m not at my shop but I made a nice one for free by accident. I used a hole saw on some ply, cut a keyhole slot in the side of the hole to allow flex, then used a cutoff saw (the newish 3” blades usually used for demo or rough carpentry) to cut a line along the inside that acts as a channel for the wire.
Much prefer these types of clamps for flexible dust collector hose tubing. Can be found on Amazon and other various retailers
Name?
Google wire hose clamp, that got me results
You’ll have the same problem with these, they have to cross over the hose wire still. You’d think the wires would be set up to align with the spiral but they don’t.
If you have a 3D printer there’s a 3-part design that does actually cross the wire and lie in the gaps between the whole way around, but I haven’t seen commercially available versions of it.

Double loop hose clamp, or just spiral/dust collector hose clamp
Is that what those are for, damn, seen em in a bin at work, had no idea. everyone just uses worm gear clamps.
Glad somebody said it, these are the best
Just make sure you get the correct one for whichever direction the wire spirals. The clamp pictured is for a wire that rotates right.
This is the way
THIS!
I find cussing a lot and being aggressive with a utility knife to trim the parts that get in the way helps.
I‘m great at cussing, my utility knife is always dull
You can either buy the fancy clamps that have the bump to go over the wire or just crank down the regular clamp. Get a nut driver or a socket wrench that fits the hex of the clamp and just tighten it until you no longer can.
It’s completely unnecessary to buy other clamps. Yes, the clamp and the spiral cross over each other, but between the squish of the tubing, and the tightness of the clamp, you can still get a perfect seal… If you’re worried about it, which you really don’t need to be, you can add some electrical, silicone, or thin foam tape under where you’re gonna seat the clamp.
Just tighten and send it. There won’t be enough blow by to lose any noticeable suction at all. Works all the same and I’ve never noticed or cared about using the special offset ones. Normal ones work just fine.
The metal that makes the hose rigid is spiraled, so it’s literally impossible to only clamp the plastic. As another person said; just tighten it till you can’t and it’ll be fine.
For semi-permanent connections I tighten the clamp down then wrap the whole thing with foil HVAC tape to get a good seal.
You can buy offset hose clamps that get around this irritant but I’ve mostly just cranked regular band clamps down.
You can also add some foam between the hose and the hard tube you’re clamping on to help it seal.
It can’t line up because the metal is helical. Just have it go over the metal in one small area. Won’t be a problem.
I just tighten it up as is and it seals fine.
Just tighten the clamp you have. It’ll be fine. It’s not holding positive pressure, it’s holding a vacuum.
Just get it between the wires and crank It down good. It won’t ever be straight but it doesn’t need to be.
It won’t be a perfect fit and doesnt need to be.
Often times they have screw on end cuffs that give you a cleaner edge.
I don’t have 4in but I use the 2.5in stuff and found these adaptor that basically screw into the ends and have a standard 2.5in hose end on them. Though now I have a 3d printer I would just print a tube insert if I needed more lol. But the adaptors were like $10 a few years back. I have to assume 4in has them too.
Zip tie the bottom spiral to the next one, clamp above that
