[Fischer] League sources say the Nuggets offered two future second-round picks and a second-round swap along with Zeke Nnaji in exchange for Kevin Porter Jr. last weekend. The Bucks ultimately were not willing to absorb Nnaji’s $7.5 million salary.
League sources say that Denver quietly emerged last weekend as Milwaukee’s most appealing potential trade partner as the Bucks wrestled with a roster crunch.
There were indeed talks with the Lakers about a swap headlined by Dalton Knecht and Jericho Sims, as The Stein Line first revealed on Oct. 15, but sources say those discussions were derailed by Milwaukee’s intent to extract two future second-round picks in the deal and the Lakers’ insistence that they part with only one in exchange for Sims.
What has not been previously revealed: The Stein Line has learned that the Nuggets showed a willingness to package two future second-rounders and a second-round pick swap along with Zeke Nnaji’s very available contract in a bid to bring Kevin Porter Jr. to the Rocky Mountains. Yet I’m told that the Bucks ultimately walked away from the Porter-to-Denver discussions as well — and then waived Porter Jr. — because they could not stomach the idea of swallowing Nnaji’s $7.5 million salary for the 2027-28 season.
