I 100% expect at some point ggg to reveal the maraketh as bad guys. Like how they did the immortal masters in poe1. Hell even zana turned into a bad guy.
I mean, it’s not a reveal that they’re bad people.
The slaves in front of the caravan prove that. The Maraketh have been so used to brutality and tough “necessary” choices that they choose to be brutal even if it’s not necessary.
The Maraketh simply align with our goals in both games.
Brother they’re already clearly the bad guys. All the other acts we’re teaming up with the clear moral underdogs or at worst neutral factions like Act 3, but in Act 2 we’re just straight up teaming up with cruel, extremely bigoted and sexist slavers.

idk man, his reason for being mad seems to be that the maraketh were offered peace but instead they dishonored him by letting his corpse to rot instead of giving him a proper burial, which is why i assume he could even come back
now i’m not one to hold the maraketh of today accountable, sins of the father and all that, and neither is today’s jamanra a good guy, but i do question who was “right” in the conflict of ages past
In the area that leads to the mines (mawidun quarry or something?), there’s a note that mentions that he was actually ambushed and poisoned to death. Wouldn’t be surprised he holds a grudge especially with Maraketh passing down that story of him committing suicide in awe of meeting their leaders. Even Zarka admits that’s an odd story.
