Moved in to the house recently and need to get the garage sealed as it’s getting colder here. I installed a new weather strip but then I found out that the garage closes right on the lip of the garage…

This causes a poor seal, especially on the sides. I have thought of possibly extending it with concrete or using a rubber ramp but wanted some input from those who are handier than I am!

have you checked the down-travel limit on the opener itself? sometimes adjusting the limit switch so it pushes down a bit further or stops slightly higher can change where the rubber bulb actually compresses against that concrete lip.

Can you take a picture from the same angle with the door closed, and maybe one more on the gap being left at the side a little closer? I don’t know if a concrete ramp would get really fucky around the wood, or you’d still just have gaps at the very side of the garage’s opening.

I would concrete ramp it. Do a proper acid prep and it should last just fine, quick and dirty and it will still probably last a decade

If it is getting colder, I assume you get snow. That lip with wood and a puddle looks prime for rot if it puddles and or freezes. Ramp sound good.
