Let’s back up a little and talk about joint prep and fit up. Bevel angle? Root face/land size? Root opening size?
Root opening is 1⁄8. We have not been shown how to do a proper fit-up yet with bevels and whatever else. I’d assume because it’s an entry-level course.
You’re not beveling the plates?
No we are not
Give yourself a 5⁄32 gap on fit up. It’ll let your root in easier, especially once it starts to close up. That 7018 looks decent as is.
