Why would it be their season? Last year Magic started the season 1-4, climbed up back to 6-6, then Paolo got injured.

They then went 7-3 without Paolo and played so well to the point that the narrative became about whether Paolo coming back would screw it up

Mosely was…. not great, but I hate when teams that underperform just swap the coach out and think they’ll suddenly play better. It has happened but it’s a tremendously low rate of success.

Unless Sweeney can make Suggs shoot about 10% better and turn off injuries, they are what they are.

I think this core still has massive potential.

Soft tissue injuries always feel way worse the next day. Pretty hard to tell in the moment unless it’s something obvious like a fracture, torn Achilles, ACL etc

If you’re counting the last 15 years or so, the Magic are probably the most injured team in the league. If you’re just counting the last few years, it’s the Grizzlies and Pelicans

I live in NYC and I my Grandpa in FL this year that passed away, and a couple years ago my other Grandpa passed away, in NYC. The sheer difference in quality of medical staff was astounding - in Florida id called it so incompetent, it’s worthy of a lawsuit - they didn’t do their due diligence at all, he was on dialysis and at one point he wasn’t be treated like a dialysis patient because where he was staying didn’t check his fucking medical records. There’s so much more that would involve more detail, but i think that plainly in that area of Florida, you aren’t going to find the best medical treatment, even if you’re in the NBA. Meanwhile, Knicks haven’t had even close to the issues I’ve seen around the league and they somehow got Mitchell Robinson to the Finals, and in recent years our medical systems have been the best in the world even outside of sport and it has shown.

Paolo’s problem has been settling for poor jumpers instead of using his size. He looked good at getting to the basket the first two games

I think Randle has been a better player than him at his peak actually, regular season wise

I think he is pretty darn good, unstoppable for stretches, but has a punchable face and an attitude. His team having a bad reputation for physical play hurts him. And the former coaches lack of an offense rounds out the slander campaign.

Watch the Magic start to win now though. That’s been the exact same trend the past two seasons. Pablo goes down for a few months, Magic play great. He comes back and Franz gets hurt. We suck.

I dont say this to denigrate Paolo but I think trading him would end up a lot like the Jaylen Brown trade situation.

Everyone knows he’s talented, but advanced stats don’t necessarily love him and he’s owed a lot of money. I don’t think anybody would be willing to give up a lot for him.

I honestly wish we had him. I play 2k and on MyTeam ant and Paolo are my dream duo in every game lol
