Nice self found heart of the well
a dumb question but does this affect the critical hit chance and damage bonus of spells?? whats the difference from those that have “of spells” mod for crit and crit damge? I assume this is for a spellcaster since theres a cast speed.
It does. If you’re minmaxxing and playing a caster build then “for spells” can be further improved with the sibilant catalyst, whereas with regular crit there is no catalyst targeting it.
Ideally on rare jewels you’d fit both caster ones and then non-caster as well if making a 5-affix jewel, for example.
That said these caster stats are so low that I’m not sure if 20% quality beats extra 3% ”extra as…” damage. Cast speed is 3% so won’t event get to 4%, crit chance is 8% so won’t even round up to 10, only 9. So it’s effectively question whether 1% crit chance and 2% crit damage is better than 3% extra damage as, and usually it’s not.
is there a catalyst that targets phys damage or damage with warcrys on jewels?
If you have such a jewel you can hover over the specific mod with your mouse and press [alt]. This shows you all the tags on that specific mod. Critical damage bonus for example has [Damage, Critical] so there is no catalyst for that as no catalist affects critical (or damage). Critical damage bonus for attack damage has [Damage, Critical, Attack] so you can use reaver because reaver affects anything with “attack”.
I think the ‘exception’ is that defence catches all keywords that include defence like energy shield, evasion, armour. Also some mods have no tag at all. Nevermind I see that they apparently reworded that so the catalyst now explicitely talks about energy shield / evasion / armour rather than ‘defence’. Same as before just cleared up.
You can check for example poe2db on rubys and you have a list of tags at the top that lets you filter the mods by you can push with catalysts. You can also see the tags for each mod. If you for example talk about global physical damage, that’s [physical], and the according catalyst would be uul-netol.
aight appreciate the answer exile! Thanks
Keep in mind, however, that the catalysts to get a single jewel to “20% inc effect of caster mods” cost around 240div. It’s very much a high-high-endgame luxury upgrade.
It’s sad how much worse this is than a rare jewel now.
The gain as extra damage is un-attainable on a rare jewel, and that will by itself give a significant boost. But the 5 line with dual 30% extra crit damage is broken, agreed.
Right, it’s just that this is pretty much a god-tier Heart, but a fairly average 5 mod, deterministically craftable rare beats it.
Yup. I doubt the 5 liners will survive for 1.0, though. Maybe on the heart.
It’s on par with a well rolled 5 mod sapphire on my spell totem arc build. This wins by a small margin. But I don’t have adorned so in very min maxed build this would lose.
yeah rare gems must be revamped for balancing. it is simply too broken
Rare jewels don’t have the Gain Dmg as Extra X Dmg though… and you can get 3x of those on a HotW.
You cannot get 3x gain as the 5th affix is always a suffix and gain as extra is a prefix.
Proof: Count by 2 with any gain is 10k+ results. Count by 3. 0 results.
Bruh! Like the hopes you need to get this and you can only use one. They have to nerf rare jewels or all builds will just be jewels and voices
Depends heavily on the build
If your build doesn’t have much access to gain as modifiers then this will almost always beat a rare jewel ( most current meta builds have a lot of gain as already, twister, mana stackers, spells in general or dont need any like oil grenade)
Stuff like ice shot or wirling assault would love this one
How much worse is this? Double gain damage mods seems pretty good to me. Admittedly the other three mods are shit, but there’s not a lot of sources of gain damage.
Shit is crazyyyy this is gasss
Maybe if you play archmage, but gain as extra is a very strong stat on basically anything else that doesn’t also giga stack it through other means (eg. Lich with extra chaos).
Depends on the skill, but damage as extra is actually not that good for most skills and generally worse than % damage,
This is the opposite of everything I know. There are so many sources of % damage, and they’re additive. There aren’t that many sources of “gain damage”.
I know the tooltips aren’t fully accurate. But when I remove my 16⁄18 gain dmg HotW, it drops my dps by way more than my %add damage rare jewel. Obviously the jewel has other great mods which the HotW does not, but I’m talking pure dps.
This guy is just incorrect, ignore him. The question comes down to how much of each pool you have. Gain as is overall a rarer pool than increased, with the outlier being high mana stacker archmage, lets say in the 15-20k mana range. Most builds would struggle to get much more than 200% gain damage total. You can see this clearly in pob under calculation tab. The tree’s sources of gain is much more rare than increased and has lower base numbers. Largest gain numbers are conditional and the highest is 15% i believe.
On the otherhand increased often just have numbers like 40-60 on the tree and theres jack of all trades which scales the increase pool with stats. Same for things such as pillar of the caged god. Or sstat stack with irongrasp. Both will put increased attack damage over 1000%.
For spell casters rathpiths often pushes the increased pool well into the 1000+ range. Just on wands you can easily see that t1 rolls for gain is drastically lower than increase.
The highest source of gain in the game are 3 things as far as I know, verglas gemling 200%+, volatility 200% exactly normally with acholyte of chayula or you’ll die and archmage with extreme manastack like 20k mana which is in the low hundreds depending on quality and if you are gemling. No “gain as”comes close to 1000.
Even the best time lost jewels are clearly a competition between crit and gain. Best double line corrupted gain as time lost diamonds will fetch roughly the same price as triple crit qualit apllied rares, losing only to extra line 6 mod rares. Gain as also has the added benefit of allowing damage type manipulation with trinity and effects of ailments.
Increase is legitimately the worst of all scaling stats in the game. Crit/gain are some of the best.
The amount of power GGG put into rare jewels is ridiculous
It feels like PoE2 itemization has reached Diablo 3 levels. Uniques are BiS everywhere, especially jewels.
Really hope this is changed for 1.0.
Uniques are bis?
the opposite. uniques are way worse
Uh you mean the opposite of that, right?
Uniques are absolutely not BIS for many builds, jewels especially
Quality and vaal it
Gaddaamnnn
Can I haz
I paid like 30divs for something like this 2 weeks after start of 0.5.5.. This is probably much more now
I found multiple drops like this and I thought I was rich. Then I learned the timeless jewel craft meta makes these absolute useless.
I guess it depends on what you mean by rich, 50-100d for one of the good ones isn’t bad. they’re still worth 1 slot for people running enough jewel slots so they have both rares and time lost. The best time lost with from nothing clustered such as resonance and conduit will just slightly edge out a top of the line heart of the well.
I have voices but still have a slot for my heart of the well that is still better than any single 5 mod rare I have. Sure the corrupted 6 mod with 20 quality can sometimes be better if you have adorned but that is for multi mirror builds.
I see your point. It some circumstances like this it could make sense.
This is the type of stuff Im so excited for when it comes to 1.0.I wanna start stacking SSF with so much cool stuff, right now it feels pointless since they get lost in the EA realm but full release standard feels like a forever game.
So does SSF get the same updates/changes/balances as leagues but it’s just solo play/no trade?
Yeah, same exact updates, leagues etc. Except there is no trading.Gotta earn everything on your own and getting crazy items actually requires you doing all the mechanics, Crafting yourself with very limited resources etc
Looks like I will be giving it a go in 1.0!That’s actually quite exciting… give me a new way to play my favorite game
