What can i add to my moms homemade advent calendar? Im 15 so not anything super expensive. I try to do most home made. I already made clay figures, magnets and letters :)
IdeasI made this last yr too but i need new things
Dried flowers, clay pendant, clay bead with your initials, handmade ornaments. Little clay frame with your picture. What type of clay are you using?
Air drying
12 goofy ass photos of you and any of your other siblings. 10⁄10 christmas calender
I dont have siblinggš¤
Advent calender, use 24 photos of you and the animals she loves possibly? That would work on my mom haha and maybe something small she can stick them to later, you did say youve made magnets, maybe a buncha goofy photos of her favorite only child for the fridge. The more outragious the better to me.. things like you photoshopped on the moon, or you as a fish. I dont enjoy the idea of people using AI so, if you can do them yourself that would be ideal. Maybe your big shoes next to your baby shoes, endearing photos are great as it gets closer to closer to christmas eve and day. Maybe the last one can be a big letter of how much youve appreciated her up to this point
The lazy person that I am, id probably have a bunch of photos of like a box in a field that just slowly get more zoomed in each day till I pop out wearing an ugly Christmas sweater on the last photo or somethin dumb but cheap like that š
I think ive misinterpreted the question š
Pictures of you guys. Start taking selfies with her at places you go. Like not even exciting places, just wherever you two go. I love the pictures I have when my kids have done this. Edit to add: the whole thing is so cool, your Mom must love this!
Yess but how i get the photosš„¹
I have a Shutterfly gift card for $25 you can use! Dm me
Ah you do have a point! You can print them out at some stores like CVS etc I think or probably at an office store like OfficeMax but you have a point Iām not sure about cost and getting there could be an issue.
Snapfish offers 50 free prints and you just pay shipping āŗļø (depending on your location!)
If your advent calendar has doors you could put the pictures inside the doors :)
If you’re looking for next year (since you said you were looking for this last year, as well) you can start writing little notes for important/memorable memories you two make throughout the year and give her them in an Advent Calendar of memories.
I do for that year sorey if i spelled wrong hehe
A note saying that you love her, a note reminiscing about something fun you did together, a little drawing are all things Iād love from my daughters.
As a mom with a son that just left the nest I would cherish this note with every bit of my soul.
Please do this for her. The more you leave behind in tangible memories the easier it is to let your babies go live their wonderful lives.
funny how the scrap paper notes are always the ones that end up staying on the fridge for five years.
An āIOUā for a day together, or an annoying task, or breakfast in bed etc.
One could be a 10$ Starbucks or local gift card for a coffee date :)
ā¬ļø this, if you can include a small framed picture, tears are a sure thing!
Make her a necklace or bracelet!
Ya i did that :)
How many more days do you have to go?
Folded paper stars or other cute little shapes or string them onto a string for a little hanging thing
This is a neat idea. My kids and I went through a phase of making these for a while.
Yup! I have a string of them in my baby’s room that a baby cousin made for me like 20 years ago.
I just spent 20 mins trying to make a star. Sadly my stars donāt inflate. Any tips for someone with 2 left thumbs ?
Maybe this video might help? Edge pushing inwards starts at around 5:20.
Thank you that was very helpful, Iām now back to just one left thumb š
Go to some beauty stores (ULTA, Sephora, macys, etc) and explain what youāre doing and ask if they have any samples. They usually have a bunch they can hook you up with for free like skincare, perfume samples etc
Oooooh good idea! I love this
Get a couple photos printed
Yes! Little wallet size photos would be perfect
those plus a scribbled note on the back would fill a day nicely
And you can get small frames at michaels. They have tiny ones that fit pictures that are 3x4. They are small and cute and will give the gift a more finished feel. They are normally $5, but you can almost always get a 40 or 50% off coupon.
Or even at the dollar store!
I second this. Print a couple of your favorite pictures from your camera roll.
You could print them tiny, and put like a Polaroid style frame around it. You could put a little magnet on the back for the fridge or wherever. You could make a few of them to fill up a few spots
As a mother, I would love this!
Love this idea! Thereās an app called Free Prints that I used for years where you get 85 free 4x6 photos a month and you just have to pay for shipping
You could even make a coupon for some kind of chore she dislikes ( washing dishes, dusting)
shoot, my 15 year olds never hug me as much as they did when they were younger, id be delighted with a free hug one hahahaha
I think many people would like hugs.
I was going to say this, it can be personalised to whatever would suit! Trip for tea+coffee, chores, activities… endless possibilities :D
I think that your mother would be super happy to receive tickets for activities with you. For example, a ticket for a walk with you, a moment at the library or a cafe, a dinner prepared togetherā¦
This was my idea! One year my son gave me a coupon book with “spend an evening together” coupons. He was 25. Best gift ever.
I think my mom would love little nature treasures : a feather, a perfect acorn, a small bone… Depends on your mother’s interests but it might remind her of when you (or her!) were little!
My kid gave me a stone in the shape of a heart, still have it
Me too!
An acorn cap that whistles would be fun! I have one that I keep by my desk
I love when my kids bring me natural treasures. Wildflowers, thorns, stones, clover, leaves, crinoid fossils …all that.
I was thinking this would be perfect for the witch in your life and then I saw your username :)
Iām a mom and would love these
Okay this is so sweet. I would absolutely bawl if my kids did this
Girl/Dude! This is so sweet and wonderful!!!!!! I am a mum, and the idea itself almost made me cry!Add coupons for the stuff she does every day. It is cheese, but if I could skip some of the stuff I do, and all of the sudden I don’t have to - it would make my day!A coupon for cooking the dinner, folding the laundry… for you it might be ordinary, but if you will come up with the dinner and she will not have to cook… she will be happy, lazy, proud and moved! You are such a good kid!!!!! I am hugging you right now, and it is super awkward*!*For you. You are the teenager. I am a mum (of a 7yo girl), and I can only hope that one day she will do that for me!
I came here to say this!
This is the best idea OP! Some no cost ideas: A pic of her holding you when you were little. A note about how much you love her. Two pennis dated the years you were born.
Omg the penny idea is so sweet I love that. They could be turned into magnets to hold the photo up on the fridge š„¹
Lol I did a double-take at the typo in that last sentence. Good ideas though!
Two what nows?
Oh thank jeebus…
You could research spice/seasoning mix recipes and make a small batch with things already in your family pantry.
OP, this idea is wholesome. The fact that youāre thinking of her and want to do something nice, you canāt go wrong. Others have given some great ideas, but youāre doing a great thing for your mom and sheāll appreciate anything you put into the calendar.
As a mom, thank you.
If your local library offers 3d printing services, the sky is the limit. You can find free print files for just about anything online.
Maybe some small items from the dollar store? Some face masks and Epsom salts for a spa night?
“date” coupons. Good for one movie at the cinema together, good for one meal cooked together, good for one walk to a destination, etc. all for activities that you do together. Also chores she hates doing. She will love it. Throw in one that says, “dear mom, you were right” it doesn’t matter what it’s about. She will be touched
Depending on your momās interests maybe a printed out riddle / sudoku /wordsearch or crossword puzzle. You could also create your own crossword or wordsearch puzzle (there are websites for this) with family-related questions/words.Or if she is more the creative type, something silly/funny/cute to color in, or to craft.
I make an advent calendar for my daughter. When you say a “homeade”advent calendar. does that mean you made the calendar or only put homeade items in it? Based on your detail im assumign the latter.
What about putting supplies for a craft you guys can make together one afternoon? Or homemade goodies she would like?
Love that you do this!
Love the idea of a craft they can do together!
Coupons for things like cleaning chores, cooking a meal or treat, foot massage, washing her hair, going for walks, or heart to heart talks ā¤ļø
Notes! Trust me, a note will be deeply appreciated. If just to say have a wonderful day, or that youāre glad sheās your mom, or that she is beautiful inside and outā¦
This! I keep notes from my kid like tiny treasures.
I donāt have any ideas but came here to say that OPās post is adorable!
You can make a couple of tiny ornaments from paper- thereās a ton of how-to on that.
How about a Hershey kiss too?
A tea bag if fancy tea- a cocoa pouch (Iām not sure if the space you have to work with.)
You can write your autograph that she can cash in when you are famous!
Fingernail polish?
A rock that has some meaning-like when you were both together, and you picked it up becauseā¦
A note saying I love you or something else kind.
A poem
I made some clay Christmas ornaments this year
A journal you can complete together.
You are a wonderful kid and your mom is gonna love this! How about a jewelry item (friendship bracelet, beaded bracelet, pendant or beaded necklace on a cord). Little drawings or photos. And love notes are always fabulous.
Print out your favorite picture of you and your mom from this year.
Write memories of things you like about her. Shart something you’d like to do either during winter break or in 2027.
Notes from you of favorite memories with her or reasons she is special to you.You are an amazing young human and your thoughtfulness and generosity toward your mom give me much hope for our collective future. Keep being you!!!
