[Post Game Thread] The Philadelphia 76ers (2-0) overcome a 29 point deficit and defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers (0-1) 114-106
(PGT generator is still down, here’s a link to the box score: https://www.espn.com/nba/boxscore/_/gameId/401909093 )
Dunno how you quantify VJ’s energy but his morale lifted us so much when were down. Big big piece of that comeback
Dude just wants to win so badly. He was already getting hype down 23 lmao
when he started doing the embiid hump celebration when they were down 19, i knew the game was about to flip, what a vibe
A real man humps whether he’s up or down.
top or bottom
the what
Oh you don’t know?
VJ did the cock chop!? I must’ve missed that when I stepped out for a cigarette
I’m so stupid. I didn’t understand why he was so hype at the time
He knew that they had a good chance against this team.
Keeping Maxey calm and collected too in the 4th, he’s the heartbeat of this team
I just commented on the one above you, but ill say it again. Maxey is my favorite player outside of the Mavs. He is so fun to watch. His quickness is insane. Just such a good basketball player. I love watching him cut to the rim…once LeBron and him get on the same page 100% watch out. Cause he will just get so many cut to the hoop buckets. This was a fun comeback
Dudes an animal playing 40 mins and still being an absolute demon.
Hopefully they can lower his minutes a wee bit to keep him fresh.
He’s also an awesome dude. Always smiling and laughing.
Yeah I think VJ might be the heartbeat of the team behind closed doors. Keeping Maxey calm in this game, telling Joel to play smarter last game, hell he was even giving LeBron some instructions on defense last night lol
Then on the other end, pure fun; telling Joel after his and-1 to hit a few pumps for celebration lmao
He’s my favorite player
He’s so athletic, his ability to sky and grab rebounds among the trees is amazing
it reminds me of that Kid Caruso
Him pulling Maxey away and then pumping the crowd up. Like… that’s my guy.
Absolutely electric moment in person.. We went nuts for him
Him and Maxey gotta be some of the most likeable players in the league
Im a mavs fan and I think Maxey is my favorite player outside of Kyrie and Cooper Flagg. He is so fun to watch.
I think he’s from Dallas too
Maxey for Kyrie?? Several sources have told me…. - Brian Windhorst
I love that he’s learning under Maxi and now LeBron. He is getting a masterclass in skills and discipline.
Last game I saw him calming Embiid down after a stupid foul on Brunson and telling him to make a smart move (pointed to his head).
So excited to watch his career progress.
It’s really sad that Embiid’s mental is fragile enough that he was flopping around getting fouls in the first game of the year. Even worse that he needed a 21 year old to rein him in.
But it’s great to have a young player like VJ
In the play I was talking about Embiid wasn’t flopping, he set a high screen on Brunson and from what the commentator said it’s a move Brunson apparently does often and draws the foul everytime.
Then you see VJ go up to Embiid and correct him shaking his head and pointing at it (dont fall for it, be smarter).
Loved watching him settle Maxey after the confrontation with Harden
Words can’t express how much I love that dude
I saw someone say “he has 6 rebounds but spiritually he has 15” and I felt that
Take THAT for data!
He on his Josh hart arc this season
Crowd went crazy when he stayed in the game after he got bloodied up
I said it before and will say it again: Edge is the best 21 year old Bron has ever played with.
Vebron James?
Maybe the uncharacteristic booing by the ordinarily stalwart Philadelphia fans lit a fire under them.
It wasn’t the booing? I thought the booing gave them superpowers.
Vj is just that fucking guy man
He’s really impressive
Volt-Joules
The Generator
76ers fans can finally speak in public
How the hell do you give up a 29-point lead?
Then not even lose it in a nail biter to the finish. Fucking lost by 8 points.
Clippers-esque
05/02/15
Lowry led the Raptors in beating the Mavs after being down 30 with 2mins left in the 3rd with a similar comfortable margin. This is similar but with more time to have played catch up.
And the Raps blew a 27 point lead against Golden State in 2013. Outscored 42-15 in the 4th
Yeah, and I remember the Mavs went on like a 30-0 run a couple years ago vs the Thunder (thunder won tho).
Comeback Clippers!!!
My first thought as well lol.
Idk been watching the Celtics do it for a decade plus now
Yes haha
Yeah but analytically they won the game
That Cavs team has no grit whatsoever. Gutless.
No hustle either, skip!
Hey! Hey! Hey!
You’re not wrong.
Team Liquid mentality
Gritless
I’m a box score watcher and I was just like, “Cool 76ers won, this is a fucking squad.”
Then I get on here and see everyone talking about 29 point comeback lol
I thought the comeback posts were Knicks fans gloating last playoffs. These mfs really did the same bs to their fans to open the next season lmao. Must be brutal on the Cavs sub. Especially after that Kenny Atkinson depression story.
Same here, last thing I saw was on Reddit a couple of hours ago where the Sixers fans were booing them for being down so much.
They scored 37 points in the whole second half 😭
They went from 94-89 to 94-104 in a span of about four minutes.
That’s just Cavs basketball the last 3 years. Gotta keep running it back though! 🫠🫠🫠🫠
They are so close and so far from a title for the entire Mitchell era.
That’s honestly just been Mitchell’s entire career. Always so close yet always so far away
Itll be interesting to see how history remembers him because he is arguably one of the best scorers the league has ever seen AND his teams have had relative success throughout his career. Even without a trip to the finals, its hard to argue against his talent and record.
Watching a 3rd quarter collapse is like snuggling up in a comfortable and EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING blanket.
Analytically you won or whatever
This is such a bad omen for the seasoan
Well if the other team has LeBron James and Joel Embiid and Jalen Brown and Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe
I was reading highly upvoted comments that most of those guys suck just an hour ago though?
Almost entire sub aged like milk
This sub is just full of haters who pray for basically every big player’s downfall. If they’re not on your team they’re clowning on them every chance they get.
I should know, I’m one of them
Half of this sub is still being nursed on their mother’s milk.
This is milk slander
This place ages like milk every two hours. It’s kind of what makes it funny.
Yea now this sub is gonna pretend like they didn’t shit on Jaylen for years
Despicable behavior. As a Sixers fan I can confidently say I never once talked bad about that man and piled onto that rhetoric!
I think most fans are kind of coping and hoping that this team isn’t going to be good because, on paper, they were instant contenders when rosters finalized
People are stupid
The law of large numbers is a bitch like that. Either a bunch of historically successful basketball players are going to have the worst performances of their careers all in the same night (possible but not likely) or they will all progress towards the mean in the second half.
Just like Knicks fans at MSG yelling “overrated” when a Sixer (can’t remember who) was shooting a free throw.
I was at the game so admittedly was not reading reddit but I even told my friend in preseason that the biggest strength of this full lineup is the adaptability.
No matter how they start games they’re too experienced to end them the same way. That may not always mean a win or a comeback but they will absolutely be adjusting in any second half they start down on to even it up a bit
Different people have different opinions.
Goomba fallacy
Because people are stupid. I don’t know why they’ve convinced themselves this starting lineup isn’t a walking nuke once they get more time
Literally no one says this
Yeah when they were losing. When else would fans say a team sucks?? But then they got thier shit together.
To be fair, like an hour or so ago they were down 29 points, so…
Cavs been blowing big leads for a while now… basically pros at it.
first of all, its Jaylen
How do they fall behind by 29 points?
I mean that team shouldn’t be down 29 in the first place lol
Brother how erect are you
or the 2025-2026 Knicks :)
And 3 zebras
One name has absolutely no reason to be on your list.
The phrase is “one of these things is not like the others”
Okay, but then how do you get up by 29 in the first place/
No idea
That’s the m.o. of the Cavs. They’ve been soft for years.
I think he’s making a joke because the Celtics also ended up blowing a similarly large lead before. This is still one of the few Nets games that Brooklyn fans remember fondly. Shit is bleak…
Not you. Anybody else on yall squad can say that, but not you
Did you not watch the ECF
Oh, I did. That’s what convinced me that the Knicks would be a tough opponent for the Spurs. They ended up being even tougher than I thought. 😭
People overlooked the east last year. Many called the WCF the real finals.
WCF definitely dominated headlines at the time. Crazy how much people will just write off the other half of the league. Missing out on genuinely fun basketball.
Y’all had a 20 point lead every game against the Knicks lol
I don’t think so. Only game 4.
The Spurs DID blow 10+ point leads in every game, though. Even the one game that they actually won.
You pretty much dominated the entire series every game until the last few minutes and fox choked in 3 of the games and wenby choked in the other.
It was way more than just those two. The whole team choked at key moments.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Or the most recent 5 games of the NBA Finals
Oh my god that’s the joke he’s making. Can’t make a joke on this website without /s
I told myself im turning off the game if they hit 30 points ahead and it just never happened. For some reason I remember saying the same thing earlier this year but I dont know why.
Exactly. We all know a team like the Spurs would never do such a thing.
Them big ole women in San Antonio definitely ain’t in a deficit
They eatin all them churros
Flair is fucking sending me
Lol the irony is palpable
The density is palpable
It’s a joke, Copernicus
Average Knicks fan intelligence lmao
At least we got to blame it on our boys being rookies lmao.
The one silver lining, I guess.
I think we should know how…
I dunno. But I can tell you how to go down by 29+ points in the first quarter.
Ask the Spurs.
Can’t tell if serious or if Spurs flair is making this an elite joke.
It’s a joke, I assure you.
This is a very common format for a joke, it’s instantly recognizable these days. After following many embarrassingly historic moments, you’ll often see a flair from the previously embarrassed team making this joke. Sometimes it’s phrased differently, like “I could never imagine blowing a 29-pt lead”, but there are many ways to phrase it
rockets fans: 27 missed 3s? couldn’t be me
It’s rigged in Lebrons favor aka throwing /s
Slowly at first, and then all at once.
Analytically they were the better team
It helps when the other team stops turning the ball over every possession. Even better when you can turn them over instead.
It has happened frequently the last couple seasons. Whereas before it was damn near unheard of to give up such a big lead
Amount of people not getting your joke is extremely telling as to how many people here actually watch NBA basketball
Ask Glenn “Doc” Rivers
The fuckery continues apparently
You forget to cherish it
Right? They folded under pressure like it was an important game, like it was the NBA finals
Usually we are the one to do that
Yeah I mean that’s ridiculous what kind of team drops a 20+ point lead, amirite?
No lead is insurmountable in the modern NBA.
I’m sure it’d never happen to an OG
Took notes from the spurs
Celtics special teams
Ask the Spurs lol
ask the atlants falcons
The falcons might have some thoughts
If you don’t love this, you don’t love Cavaliers basketball.
I don’t know, but that it happens is one of the cool things about basketball, unless it happens to you.
The largest lead blown in NBA history is 36 points.
Kalshi
If they’d convinced LBJ to come home on a vet minimum too, could’ve been a very different story
I really hope this is ironic considering last year’s finals
yeah, i sure would never root for a team that could ever do something like that 😬
Ask tatum
Analytically they probably did not
I dont know! Ask SA (San Antonio)!
i’m calling it now, this team is broken ever since game 1 against the knicks
2 points at a time.
Vegas
I guess the opposite of how you build one.
We see 20-point comebacks every other day in the NBA these days and people continue to be dumbfounded.
Wait, didn’t the Spurs give up a 20+ point lead in the Finals?
Yes. That’s the joke. Look at my flair.
The same way you get a 29 point lead, but in reverse
Every NBA game I watch one team is down by 20 and it’s tied with 2mins left
ask the spurs in the finals.
The same way you get a 29 pt lead in the first place, but in reverse 😂
Didn’t they give up a 30 point lead in game one playoffs vs the Knicks?
Yes, that was the joke
The same way your Spurs team gave up FIVE double digit leads in the Finals, one of the leads being a 29 point. In fact that 29 point loss is the largest blown loss in FINALS HISTORY. LOL. Are you that tone deaf or did you forget what happened a few months ago?
Whoosh
How tf do you blow a 29 point lead? 🙄🙄🙄
Booing works
They were going Boo-rown, Boo-rown!
I was going Boo-rown
Luka claims to play better when he gets trash talked. We have merely taken that formula and applied it to the entire team. Quite frankly it seems like an obvious strategy.
*entire city
The liberal media wants you to believe that a little booing is bad because it hurts the establishments feelings. This is normal now. But the Philadelphia 76rs just came back to win from a 29 point deficit after the crowd jeered them. What is going on??
The sixers, like all Philadelphia teams, have been booed throughout their careers and they’ve built an immunity
Why don’t we grab some popcorn, and watch nba culture collapse. what are we doing?
Then Trea Turner should be DFA’d…
Boolying works
Cavs basketball is how. This team is mentally weak as fuck. Don’t ever expect us to turn it around. We won’t.
Cavs confirmed playing like a finals team
The did make the ECF. “Finals” is part of that name.
We also did it in the ECF in game one
Kenny Atkinson is how
There’s gotta be a real chance he is the first coach fired this year right? Not because of just this but because of the fragility of the Cavs’ season in a stacked East. Or am I tripping
He literally should have been fired immediately after ECF game 1 last year. Before he walked out of the building he should have been out of a job lmfaooooo
I legitimately cannot believe we’re still here with him
Analytically, he’s already fired.
Cavs are in their 3rd year in the second apron I believe. Snyder is burning thru cash on luxury tax and a top 5 payroll to run it back basically a 3rd time.
I think that is a factor in why Atkinson hasn’t been canned after the playoff collapse last year, and will likely get a decently long leash again this year. Unless a top head coach somehow becomes available mid season, and the front office likes their chances in the playoffs by shaking it up at head coach, I don’t really see a scenario where he gets canned unless they’re looking at not even getting a play-in seed after the all star break.
Yup. Just like David Bland being fired
He wasn’t fired last year I dont see it happening unless we are abysmal. Its how our ownership always is with coaching.
Like, we have an infamously bad coaching history. And now we dont even have motivated vets that care.
Mitchell doesnt like being pushed, I think everyone on the team is content with their lot in the league, ownership sells tickets and we perform well enough, they don’t rock the boat.
No, a poverty franchise like ours is content with being a decent seed and winning some playoff games and doesn’t want to rock the boat. It took the literal greatest of all time with his legacy on the line to drag us to a championship.
How does Kenny still have a job after last season’s playoffs?
I didn’t get to watch this game, did he save his timeouts like they roll over into the next game again?
Idk I don’t think he told them to miss every shot and stop playing defense.
Knicks laid the blue print, new meta
Can confirm spotting the other team 20 points is the best strategy for winning basketball games.
Sixers stole our comeback superpowers on Tuesday. We need to regain them when we play them in Philly next Friday.
Yup Knicks fans surrounding Harper on inbound ball basically limiting his movement
Philly started booing years and years ago. Why Knick fans trying to take ownership over it?
Are you gatekeeping boos? Lol
Analytically, they didn’t.
Hopefully this sub learned a lesson tonight. Stop all the hate, just enjoy basketball man.
No lesson will be learned bro
I’m sorry, we only do knee jerk reactions here
Yeah right lol
The biggest lesson we learnt from history is that we never learn anything from history
Don’t tell me how to party.
Hate the Celtics and Enjoy basketball… fixed it for you
If only
At least your guys’ choke was due to a massive blunder by Fox and came down to the last shot. The 76ers almost won by double digits, and the Cavs stopped fouling to extend the game.
That loss was especially painfully because it was spurs game until Fox brain dead lay up
It took an entire team to choke that game. No one besides Harper was scoring for like a good 8 min stretch at one point in the second half
So very true but scoring at least takes effort and involves some randomness. Fox had literally 100% control over how that game ended, and all the effort that was required was more or less to stand in place.
James harden and Donovan Mitchell led team
Almost spat out my drink when I saw the Spurs flair
You just make sure to not blow it analytically
https://i.imgur.com/AlOqMre.gif
Cavs saw what the Spurs did in winning the biggest choker, and came out with a statement game
Having James Harden on your team, like ever…
Turnovers. They had four more and Philly and lost by 8. Other than that almost every team stat is super close.
Cavs: ”Wanna see me do it again?”
I wonder…
Evan Mobley had 18 & 8 with 10 minutes to go and deadass didn’t add a single new counting stat to his statline
Even mobley is another one of these guys that doesn’t draw enough fouls to ever progress past the 20ppg threshold. He plays so soft and if he just drove to the rim more for contact. He’d easily average 25ppg.
shades of Ayton
He wanted to stay on “Even” stats!
Look at his name, Evan Mobley. It’s baked into his DNA.
Analytically, he’s 10-ply soft
That’s called the “Evan Mobley”.
This is why we boo.
Seen so many “he should have gone back to Cleveland” comments. People probably rushing to delete them now lol
I thought he should’ve gone to Miami but after seeing their first game and Philly’s first two, he might know a lil more than me
Giannis Bron Bam might be the worst spacing ever lol
Wade, Rondo and Jimmy Buckets once played together with Taj Gibson and Robin Lopez lol
Lebron, AD, Russ, Rondo, De Andre
Don’t worry, they have Klay Thompson
Why? They would have had no shooters, as you see everyone knew this was going to be this year’s heat team.
Yup Miami was by far the worst fit of any of the teams in the sweepstakes. Horrible shooting that he would’ve made worse
Felt like a way to do the 2020 Lakers archetype; 2020 Bron/AD/Howard <-> 2026 Bron/Giannis/Bam isn’t far fetched really
Yeah that guy is just a boomer who played in the league for ~1/4th of a century, how knowledgeable can he be
He does that
I was a doubter. But holy shit sixers are on fire. I got no idea what bron saw that I didn’t, dude could’ve picked any team in the league
Ya the first half of that game thread is a rough look for a lot of people.
game threads always have a vibe like nobody there is familiar with the flow of a basketball game
The same people will be making them every game we lose. Being a LeBron hater is a full time job.
Sooooo many [deleted] commented in the thread about the booing in the 2nd quarter lmao
Saying that in the first half after we’ve blown so many second halves the past few years is nuts. Jeff Teague has mentioned Bron has gone into halftime saying “we’re good” down a shit ton of points back in the Cavs Hawks days only to come out and win, I can almost guarantee he said the same thing to us last night.
if he had, CLE would have cruised to victory.
Eh he still will win nothing in Philly. Just tells me the Cavs still choke and ky Knicks are still shortened summer rusty.
Bullying works in Philly lmao
“Run the fucking ball.”
Then Saquon happened.
SAQUON UP THE MIDDLE
AJ BROWN DEEP BALLLLLLLLLL
Punt
GREAT STOP DEFENSE
Throw a tush push or two in there and that’s a super bowl winning offense lol
You forgot the screen passes
We’re trying to forget the Patullo season.
Always has
Santa hasn’t been late since 1968
you mean drunk
The Gang Learns to Bully
underrated comment.
What about that standing ovation for Trea Turner? Probably got sick of booing lol
Funnily enough, it was still a sarcastic applause. Like that wasn’t some “come on, you got it Trea” applause. It was a “okay, let’s see if THIS will work” applause
Can’t wait to see how it works with the WNBA team there in a few years
Dawn Stanley better enjoy her last years in South Carolina cuz we’re not accepting any other coach
Kids need bullied more nowadays. It used to be too much but people are getting away with feeling themselves a little too much
Brooo…Philly fans gave that halftime show performer PTSD.
I do feel bad for him lmao he was collateral damage
If he’s a Philly sports fan, he’ll gladly accept the splash damage if it means we win
And honestly he’s now more popular than he ever would have been otherwise.
Philly fans booed a local kid at the MLB All-Star game for dropping a ball. He was psyched about it. He called it an honor.
Fuck that guy
He sucked but there was a fan who had 24 seconds to make a basket to win a prize and he didn’t touch the rim. Still not a single boo was heard
That fan wasn’t a paid professional. Also first home game of the season and you bring out the drone guy? “Oh he spun the cube, what’s he going to do with it, oh he set it back on the ground. “
Bro came out dressed like a Christmas tree twirling a Darth Maul lightsaber and karate dancing in front of Philly fans with their team down 25pts
Surprised he didn’t get a tallboy hurled at him
I was saying boo-urns
Exactly, you can’t analytically factor in boos (I mean you probs can but just walk with me for one sec)
We boo because we care
Like my parents
You boo because it will make you win. lol
Oh, is that all it takes?
Lol I don’t follow the NBA much but was browsing popular a little bit ago and saw that post. Now I’ve started browsing and see this one.
So many soft fans were in that thread
You guys should start booing the opening lineup announcement
we start before actually. its called sports radio
I really love how over dramatic reddit is about boos
Imagine that’s the shirt later…. “BOO THIS TEAM….” on the front…. then at the back “…. FOR THE WIN.”
Booing is our culture heritage.
It just means more
It hasn’t worked for 43 years, and by that I mean you’re obviously due
I was saying “Boo-urns! Boo-urns!”
Can’t believe it worked
Sixers came out hot for that second half
now its gone to yalls heads. smh
Always Sunny rules in effect
For the one time it actually ended up working
Analytically:
Cavs won this game at halftime.
LeBron retired.
Brown stinks.
Embiid is slow.
Cavs elite.
Analytically, of course.
That “analytically” comment might be the worst post-game quote any coach has ever given. So sore, disrespectful, and lacking any accountability.
i actually think he was trying to make an understandable point. i think he was trying to say that the cavs offense was working well and generating good looks, and they’d be doing a lot better if they were knocking easy 3s down at an expected clip. they missed a TON of easy shots in that series.
with that said, the way he said it, and at the time he said it, made it come off to a lot of people like he was saying the knicks didn’t deserve to be winning the series, and that’s never going to sound good down 0-3.
Should have just said something like, “we’re creating good shots and just need those shots to start falling.”
Analytically speaking was so dismissive.
It does feel like fans have dragged this one. I don’t think Atkinson was being dismissive. He basically said what you say here. The rest is reading into his intention in a way which seems unfair.
Their entire long term game plan revolves around Mitchell needing to get at least 10 a quarter on crazy usage while everybody else stands around, Mobley getting 15-20 while playing lights out on defense in the paint since nobody else knows how to defend below the free throw line, and praying somebody else gets a hot hand and Harden doesn’t get eaten alive on turnovers and defense.
The Cavs got all that size and continue to get bullied in the paint, Mobley and Allen may be good forwards in a vacuum but they just totally fold up as soon as you start going at them and playing physical. And Mobley generates too many fouls when he’s the primary back line defender, and Allen just disappears for minutes at a time on the floor on both sides, sometimes I forget he’s even on the team but then still gets his 15⁄8 average.
they had about the same 3p% today, no excuses there
Of course he was trying to make an understandable point, this subreddit is just full of teenagers that just wanna dunk on people instead of discuss basketball.
Clearly he was just saying they’ve created good shots and played golf defense but one team was making shots and the other wasn’t. Anyone with a modicum of common sense understands that, that just unfortunately disqualifies 80% of the people here.
Words have meaning, and when you say something that has direct, clown-worthy sore loser implications, its not up to everyone else to warp their understanding of English around to give the benefit of the doubt that you just happened to communicate terribly
Jason Kidd saying “I’m just watching” after the Mavs blew a 24 point lead to the Lakers a few years ago is up there too
I feel like we just take these coach quotes out of context to laugh at these dudes. I get it, but there was nothing wrong with what Kidd said except that we, as fans, enjoy dunking on these guys. Kidd was saying he’s not on the court, the players have to execute. He was being cheeky with the way he said it, but his meaning was obvious.
Not basketball, but a football (soccer) coach here in Brazil said after losing 3-1 that they lost the first half but won the second.
First half was 3-0 lol.
I mean… he’s not wrong
Tbf he was just trying to say that the Cavs played better for the majority of the game but just fell apart at the clutch moments. Of course that’s not something you say when you’re facing the brooms, and he worded it atrociously on top of that. But still.
Type of comment one only makes when they read headlines
It was too routed in the meta game of the NBA coaching and felt so out of touch to any fan
Atkinson went from alpha to beta in one press conference
This sub aged like milk in the last hour, analytically of course.
Like the Cavs analytically beat the Knicks last year.
Cromulent.
ITS THE WHOLE TEAM
Who wouldve thought trading for brown and signing lebron wouldve been a good idea
All I kept hearing were both of them are negative defenders. 2 games in they’ve been incredible on that end. Completely just shut the Cavs out
LeBron can actually focus on defense more now that he doesn’t even have to be a top 3 scorer for us to win games.
LeBron was absolutely fire on March when he fully embraced that 3rd option role on the Lakers. Surround him with enough talent so that he may even be the 4th option and you’re going to have a great time with him.
And he can still dial up to 11 as the primary scorer if he needs to as we all saw in the playoffs against the rockets. Old man gonna play til 45
This season is about to be one hell of a ride
We’ve seen the past 3 playoffs he can turn it on defense whenever he wants
He also doesn’t have to cover for two negative backcourt defenders he can just play his role
Same with Brown
crazy considering brown shut down luka doncic in the nba finals not long ago
The JB hate I’ve seen is crazy. He might not be the best off ball defender but he can completely lock down your #1 guy in a 4q situation where a lot of teams will play iso
They hate JB because of his opinions lol
That plus all the damn threes they sank was a sad time to be a mavs fan
they wanted it so bad, would’ve won it had it been any other east team
Don’t remind me 😭
There’s context to that one, Lu Dort busted Lukas legs prior to that
bta is bta
This is a common narrative but isn’t true in the least. Brown was taken off Doncic because he got torched so bad halfway through the series.
Jrue Holliday both spent more time guarding Luka and did a better job on him in that series.
I understand that narratives don’t just change once they’re accepted though, so I’m fully aware the only comments I’ll get on this are “cope” from the nephews on here.
that’s just not true at all tho, a simple google search will answer that. i mean dallas had an 84.8 offensive rating with brown as the primary defender on luka. and held him to 9-22 fg and 2-8 3pt. that’s some pretty good stats and not a narrative at all. dude was locked in and should get his flowers
wow according to sons fans averaging 30ppg in the finals is “shut down”
jaylen brown is one of the best on ball defenders in the league. off ball he’s a little rough, but when he’s that elite at the point of attack you cannot complain
Ain’t no way. Anyone saying Brown is a negative defender just doesn’t know ball.
It’s talked about a lot!!! Advanced stats ruined ball
Bron had reaves and Luka as his backcourt and no rim protection, I swear people don’t know ball. Bron has never been a bad defender, he was just asked to do too much at times and also in the playoffs he always turns it up a notch too
It’s an effort thing. If he knows he has to carry an offensive load on a regular season night, he will not play any defense. He can turn it on when he wants though.
LeBron was the best defender for Team USA in the ‘24 Olympics.
He was always an elite defender, it’s just he had to take plays off.
Man who the fuck is telling you LeBron and Jaylen Brown are negative defenders 😭
People were constantly saying Brown was incredible on defense for the past 5 years despite it being not true. He looks good on defense but doesn’t actually help the team defensively. Basketball fans are generally very poor at recognizing who is good at defense just by watching the game, because fans watch the ball and 80% of defensive work is done off the ball.
Analytics
One for the numbers, and the other for the numbers.
Trust the Process I guess?
Why doesn’t every team do it?
Idk why most teams don’t do this
Not Koby Altman clearly.
I love how this sub overreacts during the first half when the game isn’t even over yet and then Sixers came back lol
I also love that
I love that you love that.
I love that we all love that
It wasn’t just this sub. The Philly fans were booing their own team at one point.
TBF Philly fans have been doing that for years and years at this point. Not a new phenomenon. Not even exclusive to the Sixera
sixera, flyera
this city is practiced and ready to contribute the only way they know how
Just pure instinct at this point.
We booed Bryce during his first at bat with the Phils.
I remember when we sarcastically booed Billy Wagner when he threw 99 instead of 100 and he got so upset
True, if this was Miami half the fans would have left
Nice ragebait attempt. At least our city isn’t covered in literal trash
False
Why do yall act like booing your team is the worst thing a fan can do?
I see a negative sentiment with NBA fans mostly. I watch a lot of soccer and fans boo/let the team have it at half walking down the tunnel if they are performing poorly.
Fans paid to see this and deserve better effort. It’s a give and take relationship. As long as it doesn’t turn personal, it’s valid and the teams knows it and shouldn’t take it wrongly.
I think it’s largely because so many nba fans just don’t watch the games.
They look at highlights, scour over spreadsheets and scream at each other online.
That has to be an American thing, that isn’t common at first in Latam or Europe. After repeated bad performances yeah sure, and even then, the thing is to support and chant, not go into booing due to a bad streak
Would these people rather the fans be disinterested or clapping patronizingly? I don’t get it.
someone in another thread suggested the crowd should just be silent… like what?
I watched mavs in 24 and there crowd would go wild for any sort of momentum gain down 24 to try and rile the team up. So my answer would he cheer instead of boo, there is always something to cheer about to give energy booing is closer mentality imo.
Because the sports world has a Philly hate boner
I mean it’s dumb as hell you’re taking away a whole aspect of home court advantage.
We do it because it works
One of the things lebron and s lot of other stars day they appreciate about philly is that they’ll let you know.
And why applauding Trea fucking Turner doesn’t.
Power of bullying>Power of friendship
Outta all the Philly athletes he or the other Phillies certainly didn’t deserve that shit. A lot of people in the city treat the Phillies like golden boys
it did work tho
Having one comeback means it works? All the other times fans have booed have not reliably lead to wins.
Well they were cheeks in the first half so yeah makes sense. Notice how we did cheer at the end though.
Booing is different from some of the dumb shit that was said in this sub. Crowd was 1000% justified and valid for booing
Down 29 points. You would cheer, huh
Booing is one of the most effective methods to get a team to act right lol
Oh no, they BOOED?!?!?!?!
This happens at any game where the effort isn’t there
So just another Thursday then?
And the halftime performer but he also sucked
They were getting outworked hard in the home opener. They deserved to hear it
If thats not something you boo, then when exactly are you supposed to boo
Booing while down 30 and playing like ass isn’t an over reaction unless you’re as soft as ice cream
You must be new here 😂
That’s what we do. That’s what we’re supposed to do in philly.
I was there. We never booed our own team. We did boo the halftime performer though
I think it’s crazy that y’all wouldn’t boo your team when they’re down 25 with 14 turnovers in the first half. What do you do, sit on your hands?
I was watching from home and they deserved it in the first half. The effort level was low.
Not even close to the same phenomenon. The sub was gloating, calling LeBron and Embiid washed. Sixers fans only boo if they expect better. And they were right.
Were they supposed to cheer being blown out by 24 points in the first half?
Sounds like Philly fans being Philly fans…still crazy to do that in game 2 though.
No they clearly could’ve used the motivation
it’s not crazy, imagine waiting all summer and saving up to go to the game only to see them get smashed by 29. I don’t blame them for booing.
We literally just did the same thing two days ago with the pistons too lmao
Is it an overreaction when you’re down 30
Not one bit
Apparently it is..
I think it’s an appropriate reaction to being down 30, just like this thread is an appropriate reaction to coming back it.
So that was the sixers plan?
I kinda don’t want to hear this nonesense. If your team is down by 30 points and had 19 turnovers including 10 unforced at the half and your fanbase DIDN’T boo, then you are a bunch of soft little bitches that don’t care about your team.
Don’t give me that “Philly fans” bs, any fanbase should have booed
“Lads, it’s Cleveland”
when you down 25 at the halftime calling game a done deal is very reasonable. Sixers made come back, you might find few more cases where team came back being 25 down at the half time but 99.9% its a done deal. Calling it overrection is overrection in itself rofl.
so glad i bet on PHI when it was at 1200
I mean they also overreact when the game is over
As if the NBA isn’t a game of runs!
All of Reddit in a nutshell . You should’ve seen the posts coming in when the Knicks went up. LeBron effect
Brother you were 30 down with like 19 turnovers
No one was overreacting at the time, you guys genuinely looked that bad
Hmm what was the final score?
What happened tonight? Down by 29?
Trust the process
So are people not supposed to comment on the game because anything can happen?
They were playing like shit so people were justifiably criticising them. They managed to pull it together and make an incredible comeback so now people are justifiably praising them
Haters are known for impulsiveness
they’re so hungry to say I told you so
The Cavs are mentally soft man, the number of leads they’ve blown in big games is alarming
Yup, same shit, different year….im tired
We could have really used a dude like LeBron
I mean the Sixers could be the first 80 win team in league history, as well
0% chance lol. It’s a long ass season, they’re going to have a slump like every other team in history.
‘Slump’ lol, that implies your team would be on a streak, doubt so based on what we saw in first 2 games
Yeah just two wins over the reigning champs and a team that made the conference finals last year. No biggie.
Cavs already in playoffs form!
Another blown 25+ point lead is just insane, simply put
We’re good for at least 5 blown 25+ leads every year
Getting them out of the way early so it can’t happen in the playoffs this year. Kenny’s just thinking ahead, analytically.
Um actually they’ll blow more 25+ leads in the playoffs to get it out of the way for the next season
In a row??
Whatever gets Atkinson fired the fastest
Better to get them out of the way early?
Join us, in Boston
3rd quarter 76ers are fucking scary.
I remember last year when our 3rd quarter was generationally ass I used to pray for times like these
I can’t overstate how accurate this comment is. I think, even statistically, the Sixers were by far the worst team in the third quarter by a significant margin last season, and it was a running joke that the Sixers were gonna fuck up the game to start the second half
Why do Philly teams fucking hate the second half?
I remember the last decade when our 3rd quarter was generationally bad lol
Yeah but there were a lot of years of just having a bad 3rd quarter. Last year we had literally one of the worst 3rd quarters in history. Going into half up 15 was a guaranteed down by 10 going into the 4th.
emphasis on generationally, think it was like the worst 3rd quarter team of all time or something, so this shit is giving me whiplash lol
Last year our 3rd quarter net rating was genuinely worse than all of the tanking teams lmao. I don’t even know how that is possible.
Meme speak
They’re the yang to 3rd quarter eagles Yin
opposite of the Eagles rn
Opposite of the Eagles
This is an INSANE think to read given how shit they’ve been in 3rd Qs for an eternity
Every game last year I attended we would be up 10 at the half and down 15 in the third.
Sixers gonna be generational in the clutch this season
The maxey pick and roll with embiid on the top of the key in both games have been creating consistent 4vs3 opportunities and with the 4 usually being embiid edgecombe brown and bron. That’s scary man and none of them is a defensive liability as well they play great defense on the other side. Their only issue is backup center and health coz they look insane with little chemistry still
They’re obviously stacked but at the end of the day the overwhelming majority of teams do not have an answer for Maxey driving.
Add in the other 3 star players and VJ and there’s going to be a constant numbers advantage or open shot.
The difference is they could collapse on Maxey and rotate to Embiid. No team can anymore. They have to stay true because if they don’t, Brown, James and VJ are still out there
VJ is about to emerge as a star player himself.
I totally agree, I think he will be a franchise player. Just not a star yet.
I’m not used to this feeling
We really held our lead and still had Embiid and Lebron fuckin James waiting to check in lmao
Embiid getting hot, being taken out, and the Sixers maintaining the momentum is something I have never seen in the Embiid era.
Never. Literally never. Might be the simplest and most impactful metric.
I was screaming at the tv - he just finally got in rhythm and they subbed him out. And then they won.
I’ve literally never seen a LeBron team hold and increase a lead while he’s in the bench. It’s crazy
We’ve never seen an Embiid team do it either lmao. Man would always sit up 10 and come back in down 10
Have you forgotten the greatest team of all time, 2026 March Lakers?
Because it’s Maxey’s now.
And yet Lebron supposedly only won anything because he formed all these super teams that carried him, according to his haters
embiid was amazing to cut the lead and control it, he hit some tough shots
Jaylen hitting 3 clutch middys in a row and the crowd going crazy was peak
This sixers team honestly gives the same vibe as that 2020 Lakers team that eventually won the chip
This kind of thing never happens to us lol
I was already a man before I saw a positive third quarter
Almost never for Philly
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BarkSa00/gamelog/2024/
But yeah, last time anything close to this happened to the Sixers was 1982.
Fascinating flair. Respect.
Thank you. Nothing but love for my 2013 All Star
Fo Fo Fo was just a few years back wasn’t it? Fuck where did the time go.
I’d wager majority of this sub has no idea what that means without googling lol
i still won’t believe it until we can escape the 2nd round of the playoffs
“Is this the dagger?!” Reversed?
Imagine if they could get more than 7 or 8 bench points
Simons should average close to double that
simons was -24 on the floor tonight
it’s not like their bench has shot them out of these games. they just haven’t been asked to do a lot on offense.
through two games, their starting 5 have taken the vast majority of their shots. they always have at least 2, and often 3 or more of those guys on the court, and offense will always revolve around those players, whichever combination is out there. in this game, for instance, their bench took 8 shots total for the entire game.
what excites me about this team as a neutral fan is how effectively their starting 5 are setting each other up despite being a new group. they’re all playing really selflessly and getting each other really good shots. if they’re healthy, their bench literally just needs to play good defense and make very easy shots. there is no need for anyone apart from their top 5 to be doing anything difficult offensively.
(i’m not trying to argue with you, i’m just high and nerding out about a really cool new team lol)
dean wade should be able to do around that by himself hopefully
Hey we had 9 bench points for your information
I mean, other than Simons, the bench barely even shot. When you got James, Maxey, Embiid, Brown all cooking, you don’t need Caldwell-Pope to shoot unless he’s got an open three.
That will happen when they actually have 7 guys available on the bench.
Imagine when they hit more than 7 threes
The Denver Nuggets experience
They’re already playing a playoff rotation in game 2 of regular season.
Seems a lot like the Lakers last year but the starters are even better and the bench is even worse
But Sixers have 2 major bench contributors in Wade and Barlow who aren’t playing yet. And a possible 3rd if our rookie Philon is as ready as the coaches suggest. So not as bad as the Lakers.
SUPA TEAM
Comments like this have never backfired in Philadelphia pro sports. Heh.
Maxey had to play 42 minutes.. idk if I would consider that a superteam
That’s just a Nurse-ism at this point. Guy would play Maxey 40 minutes if it was a 30 point blowout lol
maxey always plays a lot
I would consider having 4 different stars to rely on on any given night a superteam
Damn imagine having a bench rn
Sounds like they have him on a minutes restriction
Don’t you mean Klutch?
Maxey is a top 10 player dwag what a fckin performance, once the chemistry truly clicks the offence finna look so polished and dynamic, great game, brown redeemed himself with his shotmaking and rim pressure, Embiid hella clutch!!
Is it too early to start talking about 82-0?
r/brandnewsentence
They’ll be good for sure, but we can’t ignore that these Cavs teams are also generational at choking
fans still ass tho
At least we have fans
As a wizards fan are you still surprised that a team can actually have that many fans?
unflaired goon talking, at least get the nba flair if you’re going to embarrass yourself
Sounds like a you problem 🤷♂️
Size matters. Sample size, dog. Let’s see them with LBJ and Embiid sitting (incoming) and see where they are with that paltry-ass bench, that can’t muster a rebound without Embiid and Bron on the floor. Size matters.
I didn’t know basketball could spark joy
Honestly I’m happy for you
That post-championship high makes people say crazy things lmao
If you’re lucky, maybe you’ll be saying something similar in a year
yeah, are we actually being nice to Philly sports fans? come on now.
Ew
Let’s wait till the end of the season 😅
Whoever reported me to suicide watch, touché lmao
The 76ers used blue light beams to distract and disable our players and I will not rest until this game result is overturned
this should be the top comment who knows how far the rabbit hole goes
“The blue lights were too bright”
Nah for sure that blue light was fuckin with my eyes too
JB and EMBIID had insane takeover runs in the clutch
It is tough to keep a team down for 4 quarters when they have so many guys capable of going crazy individually
They tried to play for each other too much in the 1st half and just kept turning the ball over. Then they realized they are all stars and just put the ball in the hoop.
Embiid in the 4th is one of my favorite things to witness
Once Embiid gets in a rhythm offensively he’s just so unstoppable.
It will be huge if they have different options to take over throughout the season in those moments, also will make it much tougher for defenses to scheme things up
Embiid was cooking, tried to refuse to be subbed out and ultimately relented to Nick Nurse then Jaylen Brown picked up right where Embiid left off
The Sixers have four players who can absolutely be the best player on the floor at any point in any game. And VJ’s energy.
I think my favorite thing about this Sixers team is how much they make Celtics fans seethe.
This is the worst week of my life
The worst week of your life SO FAR…
Yeah we’ve still got the knicks at home…. ughhhhh
Shut the fuck up
The best part out of all of this is either you guys or the Knicks start the season 0-2, lol
Knicks are baby food this year.
Best week of mine
just wait until it’s your turn to choke against them! that’ll probably feel even worse
it makes it better that their team is fully responsible for this
They’re just returning the Fultz-Tatum favor
Not even, they knew we weren’t taking Tatum we just gave them Carsen Edwards or Romeo Langford or whoever the fuck
Analytically, trading JB, their 7th best player, simply made sense.
I still can’t believe that people that make a living in the NBA, came out with this analytical bullshit.
Like, you are being paid for your critical eye, you’re not some dude on the couch or at the bar or on Reddit lmao
Just kind of shows that over analyzing stuff can get you to dumb conclusions.
giving brown away and going all in on checks notes paul george and tatum is certainly a choice
Celtics have whooooped our asses for the last decade. It must feel weird realizing they have no chance vs us now
Still ridiculous their FO traded him in the same conference. That’s GM 101
Edit: I meant division
Brad Stevens has to pay for his crimes
To be fair PG almost dropped 50 lmao
Not sustainable at all obviously, especially come Playoffs with Playoff P.
Same division, even!
After blowing a 3-1 series lead to us no less lmao. It’s insane to even imagine that trade would happen but here we are.
The owe us for the Tatum trade
More of a redditism than anythin. What matters is getting the best return
Well they didn’t get that either. So…
Can it be a redditism when tv reporters mention it too?
Honestly a lot of generational trauma from the Celtics was relieved last playoffs for me. I don’t have nearly the hate in my heart anymore for them.
This is not the Philly fan experience I was promised
Ive been watching basketball since the Bird/Mchale/Parrish era… I fucking hate that team and everything about that franchise. I hate Leprechauns. I hate parkay floors. I hate gardens. I hate cigars. I hate French Lick Indiana. Fuck the Celtics!
and I fucking love tea! Fuck Boston!
Ohhhh he doesn’t speak for all of us
Its good to beat the team thats been crushing us in recent playoff memory and get the monkey off your back, but id take a bubble bath in Celtics fans racist tears
Just don’t fear them anymore tbh. There’s like 4 other teams in the conference that give me more worry.
We stepped into an alternate universe after game 4 & haven’t gone back.
I’m going to get my Celtics fan friend a new Jaylen Brown shirt.
I still do. Fuck the Celtics.
Second round
Correct, you missed the second round. Good job counting.
First round
I can totally appreciate this as a green bleeder. Well done.
I hadn’t thought of this. Go Sixers!
They quite literally did this to themselves.
They do? This team is funny to me, I enjoy them. They’ll be good TV.
And Raptors fans lol those dudes are in every Sixers thread
they were more worried about us than the pistons
It really is a beautiful thing.
Idk about other Celtics fans but this will be my #2 east team this year..they’re gonna be a fun watch, and I want JB to succeed
It only makes me seethe because they traded my favorite player for fucking PAUL GEORGE when (here’s me being a homer): Jaylen Brown will be a better basketball player than Tatum over the next three years
Personally, I am happy to see JB succeeding. It does hurt to see that fraud Embiid have a good team though.
Again, just give it ~10 games and LeBron won’t be missing layups, will be hitting more jumpers, and will be a menace attacking the rim. For the last…7 years at least he’s started slowly. I remember Luke 5 years ago thinking he might be washed the first like 8 games, I think that was the season he averaged 30 at like 37 or whatever 😂😂
He’s going to ramp up and get better. Team will continue to gel
So much talent and seems like they’re all Bought in
Nuts
Embiid always starts slow too. If they can stay healthy this year…
Embiid will be sleep walking to 30 point games in a few weeks.
I’m hoping for more like 25 and focus on defense. My man needs to watch like Tim Duncan play defense and do that! Solid defense and much less risk of injury.
Embiids ass is on the ground an incredible amount for being that large
Yep, don’t let your feet leave the floor. That’s why Duncan was so durable and so effective for so long.
i think a bajillion year old lebron might be the best teammate he’s ever had.
Joel “Regigas” Embiid
do you think he looks like the same as last year when people said he was washed early in the season, because I forget tbh
Embiid … If … healthy …
grandma wheels bike
Yup he’s blowing layups he makes in his sleep. Still finished with 17 lol
Well he made free throws. Once the layups start dropping, the free throws will miss. You only get one with him lol
He misses more now that he’s older
yep, i think that was the biggest sign of his age catching up with him last year for me. just random blown layups he used to make with his eyes closed.
am hoping that it’ll get better this year now that he isn’t coming off a back injury and had a preseason. tbd.
LeBron is Regigigas with Slow Start, confirmed.
Agree but Bron now dealing with left foot arthritis and sciatica. I trust his and Philly doctors that he won’t crash down hard though, but knowing Dirk’s limited mobility, I also kinda wish he would retire once he had/proved something in Sixers before it got bad. I don’t want to see the once mighty LeBron suffered in retirement like what happened to Dirk and Batistuta.
“Everyone’s gotta buy in. That’s how you build a winning culture.”
Shoresy
And that’s like the 3rd/4th option lmao. Please let all teams be healthy this season, we have a lot of exciting teams on both conferences.
There was a position in the first quarter where he tried go full speed into the paint and lost the ball. Seems a bit slower and less powerful, but it could be the dust. Let’s see
Analytically 1-0
Cavs in playoff form already
Cavs are never winning a championship with Kenny Atkinson and James Harden. They are so fucking terrible at the end of these games.
So little was required in the second half for the Cavs to win and they just kept shooting themselves in the foot
I know harden has a negative reputation with a lot of this sub, but I was shocked to see the way Maxey abused him when he had the ball. I suppose it’s been a couple years since I was watching him regularly, but he looked absolutely done
I’ll never forget Brunson going at him like 10 possessions in a row to spur the ECF comeback. I almost started to feel bad for him
i legit have seen harden play better defense against big men than guards in the last few years, maybe im dumb but idk.
I meant more when Maxey was defending Harden. There were a number of plays where Maxey just stood strong and ripped the ball right out of his hands.
We tried the whole championship thing with Harden. It didn’t work. Silly Cleveland, maybe they should try Lebron James?
We tried that once! It worked and then Kevin Durant happened literally two weeks later
Celtics trading Jaylen Brown might be the 2nd biggest fumble after Luka-AD trade. What a crazy decision lmao
I mean PG kinda went off game 1. I’m happy with the trade, but Celtics didn’t get peanuts
Kenny is never living that quote down, nor should he.
Their season literally ended tonight lol
This Sixers team is cinema to watch ngl it hurts to say. Also Mario is a good rotational player now so that’s cool
Its a fuckin all star team if can stay healthy and have backups lol
Hezonja demanding the ball for an iso twice to end the 3rd quarter as we’re making our run and getting a bucket both times in his first nba game in 5 years was an unreal ballsy move and cold blooded
his jumper was really suspect though. the two middies he made were all bank shots too
Sure. I don’t think anyone expected much of a 3Pt shot from him, the banks is clearly his go to move whenever he gets a smaller body. He is good in transition, has nice size and defends pretty well. I’m excited to watch him this season for some reason lol
yeah he was good defensively in this game. too bad he missed quite a few momentum shots for the cavs
I’m surprised at the quality of defense Embiid has played with, but he’ll break down. Jaylen Brown’s biggest improvement for then76ers is his defensive intensity. Even as a knicks fan, I’ve always loved him.
The vibes could not be higher. Clap your hands everybodyyyy
Philly got all their favorite things from this game: booing their own team, a win, and bullying working
Also booing Harden. That was a generational boo second only to Simmons first game back in Philly. We be some haters when the situation calls for it.
Haha the “FUCK YOU HARDEN” chants made me so happy 😁
Even the 6 year old kid in the row behind me got involved for that
We boo because we care. You can’t raise prices this season and then be cheeks
don’t forget the 29 point deficit, that’s just Philly making it interesting for themselves. can’t have a normal win
1 2 3 4 5 Sixers
clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap
Stomp your feet everybodyyy. For Philadelphia 76ers!
HERE THEY COME, TEAM OF THE YEAR
I love this darn song so much
ONE TWO THREE FOUR FIVE SIXERS
TEN NINE EIGHT SEVENTY SIXERS
The vibes are IMMACULATE
IVE MISSED THE SONG SO MUCH
Absolutely insane to see that crowd popping, singing that song, with LeBron and JB in blue. Lets fucking go
evrybodeeclapyourhands!
The 7th best player on the Celtics last year looked pretty fucking good.
Almost like playing on the court with teammates is more impressive than an algorithm.
On some nights he will be the 5th best player on Philly.
Literally no one ever said he was the 7th best player on the Celtics last year. This sub is so dumb.
Edit: since I’ve already got a bunch of nephews in my inbox repeating nonsense, here’s what actually happened:
A shit tonne of people on Reddit were saying it because they saw a bunch of other people on Reddit saying it.
What actually happened was that an analytics guy in a front office said that their algorithm had him as a “7th best player on a roster type of guy.” Very clearly not about the Celtics at all, and the analytics guy who said it was also very clear that he didn’t agree with the assessment.
The reporter who reported on this happening was also very clear that neither he nor the person who said it agreed with the assessment.
Literally zero people have ever said that their opinion of Jaylen Brown was that he’s the 7th best player on the Celtics.
Literally a ton of people were saying this pre-season. You can check the tapes. You can literally google this.
No, a bunch of people were saying that a reporter said it even though it wasn’t true.
A bunch of people on Reddit misrepresentating a report doesn’t equate to a ton of people saying something.
Literally no person has ever said their opinion of Jaylen Brown is that he was the 7th best player on the Celtics.
You really going to pretend Celtics fans weren’t saying that to cope? I know I saw many posts where people were claiming he was analytically bad, inefficient, selfish player, etc. and how PG would improve the Celtics roster
You might be the most sensible person on this sub
Maybe it was the sixth? But a shit-ton of people were saying it including, apparently, some NBA people.
No. A shit tonne of people on Reddit were saying it because they saw a bunch of other people on Reddit saying it.
I think this game might actually be the worst way you can start off the season.
Nah what Phoenix went through yesterday is 15x worse than this
Lost by 41 against a Blazers team that isn’t even expected to be a true contender
I think people are underestimating the Blazers. Yes they aren’t formed the way any sane organization should space their team, but there is no denying the talent in every player in their starting lineup.
Looking at the Clippers, Nets, now Suns, I think in the NBA you don’t want an owner who wants to win too badly. The private equity owner who doesn’t give a shit is preferable
Phoenix is known as one of the worst teams in the NBA though…
The Cavs lost Semi’s to the champs and were looking to pick up Bron this off-season.
Bron in the division rivalry just made them blow a 29 point lead and added 8 on top for the win.
This has to be one of the worst feelings to the start of a season for any team. If I was a Cavs fan, my hope just went out of the window, knowing that even if they make Semi’s again, they’re still not going to win the chip.
Oh, and I also think the Trailblazers are underrated. They have decent potential
I didn’t watch, did Devin Booker die in the offseason or something?
I would’ve rather we lost by 50.
Analytically, your team is dookie
Congrats you won 2 games thinking your team is all that. Wait until Joel Embiid gets injured and the team is angry at each other. LeBron is old and you will never win a champ lmao.
Buddy look in the mirror
Eagles are buns. Browns are better lol. The guardians went farther than the Phillies. And the 76ers haven’t won a championship in 40 years and won’t anytime soon. But enjoy this win little man. Your team ain’t going anywhere ha!
scoreboard buddy
Sets the tone for the rest of the season. Like we said after that diabolical choke in the playoffs, you don’t recover from this type of failure.
Last time I was this excited about the Sixers was the 3 seconds before the Leonard shot fell in
We had back to back 24 second violations before that so probably a few minutes before you said
This team is full of mentally weak bitches. This isn’t a Kenny problem. This happened under Bickerstaff, too. We lose this way far too often when faced with adversity. It’s because of this that we’ll never win a championship with this core. I was hoping for change from last season. That hope has shifted to disgust.
Harden isn’t helping.
This sub told me Harden wasn’t the problem tho
He’s but one.
No, he certainly is not. He’s a mentally weak bitch.
Sounds like the James harden experience to me
ironically he was one of the only ones who did anything in the 4th
Hes barely been there a year
Yep
You can always count on mobleys 18 and 8 though 😭
Yeah, his stagnation as a player has gotten old. Trade him.
Nah it most definitely is a Kenny problem. A decent Coach irons out weak bitches. Kenny is a fucking deer in headlights when we have a lead. He checks out and just lets the guys do their thing and that’s about it. How about a timeout? How about taking harden out when he’s having a very obviously off night? He’s just a dumbass who can’t coach.
Then why did we have this same issue with Bickerstaff? The common denominator is the players, not the coaches.
I’m not saying we didn’t have issues with bickerstaff but they were different. This is very clearly the same issue over and over again here with Kenny. He locks up and does nothing when the boys have the lead down the stretch and doesn’t know how to be a coach when that happens. He can’t call timeouts he doesn’t properly bench cold players, etc. It’s just very obviously a Kenny problem at this exact moment with the exact mistakes that are repeating.
Yup. Gonna hate watch every game. This team doesn’t have the juice.
You wanted to get mentally tougher and brought in James Harden?
Its two games in a brother, let’s take a chill pill. If heath ledger taught us anything, a man can change his stars!
Well for the guy you’re replying to it’s actually 1 game in, so yeah, it’s full meltdown in Cleveland.
At least they have Deshaun Watson to root for though
Good call on both points lmao
Nah, it showed us who this team is. Weak. Can’t close. No grit. Nobody willing to put the team on their back like Brunson did in Game 1 of the ECF last season.
That’s the unquantifiable part of adding pieces like bron and brown, mentalities that don’t fold
The 2023 Lakers came back from 25+ point deficits like 5 times during the RS. LBJ came back from a 2-0 deficit in the playoffs 3 times . The most resilient player in NBA history
Lets not forget down 3-1 to the greatest team in history
Like Teague’s story in which they came back vs Indiana like down 26 and Bron told his team “We good!” and came back.
LOL
KCP too, he’s also a 2x champ!!
TRUTH
Thats not the problem we really needed fixed after we finally got off the Simmons/Harden train lol. What would be really nice is if they could make all the knee ligaments not fold anymore
Brown blew a 3-1 lead last year and two twenty point leads at home to knicks the previous year?
Tatum put up 17 points in game 6 and didnt play game 7, when brown had 33 and 9
Does tatum coming back from an Achilles injury matter or do we throw context out the window
Im curious as well, doesnt seem you’re applying that context either
Not blaming Tatum so he doesn’t need defending, im contextualizing why nobody serious in the basketball world is using that series to imply that brown is mentally soft
Mobley is such a pathetic max player
Don’t be mean bro. He hit his 18 points cap too early
Andrew Wiggins 1.1, scoring wise
Their entire window hinged on him making the leap
I don’t think it’s happening
member when he had kg comps his first year lol
I drank the kool-aid too ngl
But almost 4 years later he’s still basically the same player
Which is still a good one
But really not what they needed to take that next step
Everyone was swearing he was better than Cade basically up until last season lol
I dont know. He jumps pretty good.
He’s so soft
Everything about him soft. Short shorts, skinny ass legs moves like a deer, looks like my accountant.
No swag either. And a weak ass haircut you’d see on the wall at the barbershop as a kid
No accessories either, literally plays like a brown shirt on 2k with no attributes or accessories
Imagine having the least swag when your front court-mate is Jarrett Allen
The breakdown is hilarious
This is some good bait🍆!
This is the most accurate description of Mobley I’ve seen
He not even be the 3rd best player from his draft class after Cade and Scottie at this rate 😬
Jalen Johnson is better than him
there might even be an argument for Sengun
Hes probably 7th.
The 18⁄8 meme literally writing itself
If you didn’t know how much he was being paid you’d never guess he’s a max player
The second I realized we’d have to pay him the supermax I knew it was over. He can be great but he’s never going to be that great.
reminds me of Sixers era Tobias Harris lol
he makes sengun look elite
Cavs starting their season like how they ended it last year.
A major analytical win.
Also Tyrese Maxey is the fucking truth.
The multiple touchdown passes to a full sprint Maxey was amazing. Normally he’s had to take the ball down the court, which he’s also the fastest in the league at I think, but multiple guys that can pass it to him 😍
“See, Sixers are trash…” - First Half r/NBA
“Okay, they’re not that bad.” - End Of Game r/NBA
Edgecombe is such a great glue guy for the Sixers.
The fact that we drafted Maxey and VJ and will have them for the foreseeable future fills me with so much joy
VJ is on some Olympic DBook shit.
And just like that LeBron shows us why he picked the Sixers over the Cavs lmao
Yeah I would pick Maxey, JB and Embiid over perennial choker harden
but at half time I was told Lebron should retire, Brown is ass, and this Philly team wouldn’t win anything
Game 2.
which only makes the things people were saying more crazy
I expect Philly to be very good for part of the season. I also expect Philly to fall apart for part of the season. Am I right? Am I wrong?
Only time will tell.
Big if true
I mean they haven’t figured everything out yet and just beat a 29 pt deficit against a top east team
It works both ways tbf
r/nba’s 9⁄11
Sixers’ fans 12⁄25
12⁄25 will be a great game for fans of slander and overreactions alike
Just spit out my proverbial coffee lol
Idk, some of us actually like cool stories and iconic players and are rooting for LeBron/JB/Embiid/Maxey/VJ to have as many highlights and wins as possible
Personally LeBron has always been my favorite team
I never really liked Bron tbh. I was always the MJ is the GOAT guy. But having him on this team (been rooting since Embiid and Simmons days) is a blessing. If we win a chip, he’s def gon be my GOAT lmao.
it’s still fuck LePolymarket but that was a great game regardless 😂
sixers’ fans 9⁄11 from the perspective of bin laden
It would be if it was the ECF, but its game 2.
