[Lowlight] Amen Thompson badly air balls a three point attempt
good on him to keep practicing those shots. past two games have been rusty. he went 1⁄4 from 3 today and 5⁄6 83% FT, which are both higher than his average
chip also said his shot will get worse before it gets better while he works his magic. so brace yourselves
1⁄4 is higher than his average. Dear god…
I hope that’s the case for your sake.
That said, Chip was approaching “drive him to the airport” status for Thunder fans given our playoff shooting
Yea time will tell. I like the odds of Chip helping someone on the team fix their broken shot
Pop said there isn’t anything about shooting that Chip doesn’t understand. And that’s high praise
If one of Sengun, Amen, Jabari or Tari improve even a few % even that’d be huge
Now if he hits with more than one, max him
Absolutely. I also think there’s something to be said about changing scenery for coaches as well as players, he was here for a good while and might have just ran out of new things to teach. There is so much room for improvement in Houston that it shouldn’t be too hard to make a difference
I remember the hopeful phase with Chip…😅
You guys got Chip????
God damnit.
Ausar had two airballs on jumper last game too
Ausar looked really rough. I know his defense is amazing, but I really wonder how he can be even acceptable at the other end of the floor.
He’s already “acceptable” through his playmaking, slashing, and general ability to be in the right place at the right time. The narrative that he’s a horrible offensive player comes from people who don’t watch. He was pretty rough last night, but he was also pretty amazing offensively in the first preseason game
It’s mostly a matter of how much more he can improve, his overall feel and athleticism gives him a super high ceiling that he’s currently not super close to
That’s not very accurate. He’s super passive when he drives, he’s terrified of shooting the ball and never really utelizes his athleticism with aggression unless it’s on defense. That guy should be able to dunk over and through people in the paint but he tries to get cute and avoid contact for a layup that misses.
I love him and hope he gets more confident on offense some day, but right now it’s not there
Cope. A team with a Duren and a Thompson twin in the starting line up is going absolutely nowhere in the post season, even if Cade turns into Steph.
You just can’t have two non shooters in your top 5. Even having 1 is bad enough these days
He hit a corner right after this btw
We’re talking about this lowlight. Not the other you meant.
r/rockets: When he develops a jumper, it’s over for the league!
Keep at it, that’s what these preseason games are for. He’s part of their future.
I will never comprehend how some players get all the way to the NBA and are so bad at shooting.
Obviously some of them so skilled in other ways that they don’t need to shoot the 3, but you’d think they would be able to practice over a summer with NBA coaches and get much better.
His game is reliant on speed, speed, speed. The key to shooting seems to be to slow down your mind a bit and just shoot. Gonna take a while to get him to slow down mentally
I think it’s the opposite actually, at least for his brother Ausar. I’m a pistons fan so I watch a lot of their games, whenever Ausar doesn’t have time to think about the shot, it looks so much better. If he has to catch and shoot a buzzer beater its so much smoother than the wide open take your time shots
Honestly you might have a good point.
One is based on instinct/muscle memory of shots he has taken his whole life and the other I’m guessing is him trying to apply the coaching he receives to become more consistent with his shot
Genetics
Right after Kyrie hits a hail mary 3 made it even funnier
More athleticism less finesse. This doesn’t surprise me
They’d give Chip a key to the city and a statue in front of the arena if he can fix this.
I hope he would keep shooting in games. Form looks lot better too!
Clearly a play for FVV lol
Honestly it’s looking better
That’s…not his game.
Gotta be mental for these players. Like Ben Simmons. These dudes will drain 3 after 3 in workouts and shoot like this in game
Who amongst us?

China is a safe space to let that shit fly.
I mean badly? It’s an airball. If it only got halfway I’d say badly.
His offense is abysmal.
Okay Houston here me out. If you hire me, I guarantee I will at least hit the rim and have it go out of bounds but DEFINITELY no air balls.
Players blocking my shot on the way up don’t count.
Did you play in college or something? It’s funny you think you could actually operate at that speed, from that distance, against that defense, and still come anywhere close to the rim.
You wouldn’t even be able to get a dribble off, my guy. Let alone a 3pt shot that you would probably be hoisting up from your waist.
Bro did not need to take that dribble.
It actually baffles me how someone this good could be this incompetent when it comes to shooting. I got good at shooting just from all the time I spent messing around in the gym outside of practice, let alone actual practice.
Like you can’t avoid getting a better shot through all the time you spend in the gym with a ball in your hands as a kid who enjoys playing basketball. But somehow these guys achieved it.
I’d be willing to airball some shots for half of what they’re paying him
And people wanted to give him $200M. For what? Yea yea his defense is cool.
Top 10 draft bust of all time
Haha
