The PG piece of the trade is like only like half of it for Boston too, they got 2 first round picks out of it. One of them is a likely lottery pick and who knows where Philly is as a team in 31. The final fallout of the trade won’t truly be known until like a decade from now(not a good sign for Philly)
And we solved the Jaylen problem which that he’s not worth a max contract and he was traded the day before the window to extend him opened. If we didn’t extend he would have been all disgruntled and talking about it on his podcast and whatnot.

No, absolutely not. The statistics do not favor Brown over George for the same money. The statistics show the Celtics should be about as good without Brown if the rest of the team can scale into his minutes, a big If, and they also show the Celtics should have more roster flexibility three years from now.

The value in MVP can be in different ways, Brown did what he had to to win without a lot of talent around him. And saying Sam Hauser and Pritchard are talent would be hurr durr, I can do that too.

If Paul George is 100% healthy he’s still a quality player and fits the Celts system. But he really isn’t ever completely healthy.
He just needs to be a good 3 and D guy. The Celtics are a system and they have a whole bunch of guys who are perfect fits for that system
I think his in between stuff like being able to do second side creation and having already adapted as more of an off ball mover make him a really good fit next to Tatum #1 even if he’s not the scorer Brown is. People will be surprised but I think he’s a better enhancer for the team than Brown (and still is a better defender even at this age)

We had no choice. It was pay Paul George a max for one or two years or pay brown a max for 5 years. They said it in the press conference. “If the collecting bargaining agreement had a higher cap we wouldn’t be having this press conference”.
Most people thought the cap was going to go up more than it did. Where it is, it does not make sense to pay brown a max extension. The window to extend was about to open when they traded him thereby avoiding the drama. Also brown just isn’t a good fit for this version of the Celtics.
