Draymond Green gives some advice to Darius Acuff Jr. on the sideline
Probably connected because Acuff is from Detroit, don’t think this is their first meeting.
Acuff was literally on Draymond’s podcast a few months ago.
Darius and Draymond played for the same AAU group called “The Family” which is the best aau here. New kid, Jordan McDaniels was on it and is going to be very good, but just transferred to a prep school in Arizona which is sad and very common for high school ball in Michigan
Draymond knows ball. Feel like he sees something special in this kid.
They’re both from Michigan so they’re probably talking about, you know what, I don’t even know what Michiganders talk about.
“Hey, how bout that lake? Pretty great right?”
“which one is your favorite? Huron, St Clair or Erie?”
Its a booming weed economy
Draymond has been in the bay for like 15 years, dude knows about the best weed economy in the US
Probably their favorite Faygo flavor
Favorite Faygo flavors
So when do you think those jobs are coming back
Underrated comment
Whipping shitties and ICP, I’d imagine
Do they really say whipping shitties in Michigan? I get there is a lot of overlap with them and Ontario but I always thought that was a Canadian phrase.
I only know of it because of author and podcaster, Joe Kassabian. And he has definitely called it a Michigan thing too
No lol ive never heard that saying in my 30 years of living in Michigan
Our water still has lead in it huh?
This kid is special dude, kings got a good one here
I know exactly what the Kings do whenever they get someone good…
They get them PAID by the next team.
Shhhh don’t ruin the surprise lol
Can’t wait to see him ball out on the Pacers when he’s eventually traded for whomever modern day Sabonis will be (Zubac? lol).
Cant wait to see bro on the pacers with haliburton
They build around him and win championships?
Haha good one
He is gonna look so good in the purple and gold one day 😩
Bro is a walking bucket. I would be surprised if he doesn’t put up numbers this season as a rookie.
High level understanding of how to get his shot off and had some veteran savvy moves to get a foul call.
He really is the most polished offensive player in this draft class. From game one it’s seemed like he’s known how to get to his spots on an NBA court and he just makes it look easy too.
I know he was mostly joking about succeeding Kerr when he retires, but he absolutely could be an NBA coach if he wanted to. He’d probably lead the league in coaching technicals, but so did Kerr during his first year
Kerr was once asked what he thinks the Big 3 will do after their careers and he said that Draymond will start doing media but become bored with it and move on to coaching. I buy that.
start doing media but become bored with it and move on to coaching
Sounds familiar
As everyone always reiterate in the sub, someone’s basketball opinion of Draymond Green is a great litmus test if he actually knows ball.
He may have low EQ, but he’s one of the smartest basketball minds of this century. Especially defensively.
Not only defensively.
In the Warriors prime years of their dynasty, Draymond was the focal initiator in their offense. As in top of the key, just like a Marc Gasol but way more active.
Not only could he give you a solid 15 points, he could give you 13 rebounds and 8 assists.
And of that role, he would have numerous hockey assists on top of that.
I don’t want to go any deeper but I’ll spice it up by saying I truly thought he could go down as a top 25 player all time.
Still hated every second of the Warriors winning. But it was some fucking amazing basketball.
Similar thing with Derrick White. Anyone who thinks the Celtics need to trade Derrick White or that he’s ass because he had a bad shooting year is just automatically a moron. I don’t need to see literally anything else they’ve said.
He may have low EQ
As an audio engineer, this is hilarious!!!
He’s be a great coach but a terrible “head” coach.
He had Acuff on his pod a couple months back. He really fucks with him and Acuff respects him a lot especially that they both from the same place
Kinda but not really, Draymond is from Saginaw and Darius is from Detroit, I bet they connected over their upbringing though
dray went to sexton right? just like brynn forbes
Tbh I have no idea, I just go to Saginaw Valley State nearby
Although Tom Izzo did visit us for a dinner not too long ago!
It’s so hard for me to imagine Acuff on a podcast. He’s normally such a man of few words who’s seemingly just all about his business.
Exactly Dray knows his time is coming to an end. I genuinely think he loves good hoops.
He is special, probably just telling him to lock in because he’s on the kings at the end of the day
He also knows every little trick a vets gonna use to defend him, type of guy you listen to.
A PG Sac drafted that’s special… I look forward to him carrying another team to a finals appearance.
He had all of 2019 to do this and instead he wanted to beat traffic.
Aside from that one Christmas game against Harden and Westbrook.
Nut shots are an instant crit, kid
Sometimes theyll be taller thwn you, so you gotta go for the throat
But only if they’re F*ench
Or named Sabonis
[removed]
“ya gotta reach up in there tho, like this!”
The internet is tooo funny man
Sky uppercut
I’m still mad they removed it from the series.
This sub is full of losers lol. Good shit Draymond, the young fella will appreciate it.
Draymond breaking down ball during the playoff run helped me understand defensive rotations and positioning
That’s kinda sad ngl that you needed Draymond to explain defensive rotations to you. If you don’t mind me asking, were you like around 7 or 8 yrs old at the time?
Guy who’s not in the league hoop shaming someone for not understanding defensive rotations. You realize high school coaches and college coaches approach these subjects differently right?
How do you know he’s not in the league? This could be Kevin Durant for all we know
do you think a 7 or 8 year old explain draymonds explanations of defensive rotations is not impressive even if they were young? you moron🤣
Hoop enough and you’ll notice barely anyone knows how to rotate and position themselves on defense.
You are really fucking weird lol
You’re also on Reddit a disgusting amount.
Awe Storm007 thinks I’m weird how will I survive lmfao.
Where’s the rule book on what’s not a “disgusting amount” of time to be on reddit. If it’s so disgusting why you on it at all?
If my dog was as ugly as your are inside, I’d shave his ass and make him walk around backwards ;)
If I had a stick with your face on it, I’d shove it in my hairy ass to clean it out
you’re right, these dudes ain’t funny either
Its the internet. These people don’t know shit.
This sub lol. Reddit itself is.
I fucking hate Draymond but this rules. More of this stuff Draymond!
glazing a guy who literally sky hooked his teammate in preseason 😭
“Good shit draymond!!!” do tricks on it 🤣
Who uppercutted you in da ballz?
Love how the absolutely lowest IQ fans somehow congregate on any post about Draymond.
This isn’t about everyone in here but you will know if it’s about you when you feel personally attacked and feel the urge to downvote this and reply.
It’s a reddit issue as a whole tbh. Everyone is trying to be a class clown, and don’t get me wrong I’m really not any better. That being said this was a cool thing to do. Draymond is a legitimately good player. Sharing any insight he has with his opponents, or just in general being friendly is cool.
I said in another comment there’s a big difference between him and Dillon Brooks, another notorious rabble rouser. Personally I don’t think Draymond is that good at it because he gets busted for it lol. But he also gets away with a lot.
In general I’m just not a fan of that type of playing. But Draymond isn’t hitler because he’s one of many guys in NBA history to be a “bad boy.” Like he’s not so evil or something that I have a completely warped idea of him in my head. That being said it does annoy me when conversations shift from, “people are being blinded how good of a player he is because of antics (and the low bearing fruit jokes made off of those antics.)” to dismissing and/or downplaying his antics.
It’s not just Draymond. KD and Kyrie too.
Draymond is a piece of shit on the court, and no amount of preemptive gaslighting or wishful thinking by GSW fans will keep me from stating that.
Ever been to an SGA post? Lmfao
Love how some of the absolute lowest IQ warriors fans somehow congregate to defend a shit human being at all costs, just because he’s on “their team”
Like a lightbulb to a moth.
Mister soup just couldn’t help himself
I wonder how many others like him actually stopped themselves from replying lol
Sheep up baby
lol like a dog returning to its vomit
One of the smartest basketball players of his generation is openly giving out advice to an opposing rookie and you still can’t go one second without needing to point out you don’t like him.
> One of the smartest basketball players of his generation
Dude are you gonna zip up his zipper when you’re done or are you arranging for someone to come do that for you?
13k contributions in 1 year?
Stop coming up with shitty insults and go touch grass you basement dwelling hermit.
he definitely is smarter than you and your favorite player i promise
4 rings flair up
Oh come on how is he a shit human being 😂 Malone, bridges,Kobe etc. those are shit human beings. I don’t like draymond either go touch grass.
Only an idiot believes that Draymond wouldn’t have absolute pearls of basketball wisdom to give. He has played every star of the last decade and a half. Probably the greatest basketball mind (as far as floor IQ) to don a Warriors jersey.
We’re not including Chris Paul’s stint on the Warriors. That never happened.
Yeah definitely a greater basketball mind than Steph Curry. Curry never even considered karate kicking his opponents in the balls or sucker punching his own teammate. Absolute genius
Found one of the idiots
You think green has a better basketball IQ than Steph Curry? In what way? Please explain as if I am stupid
We can start with the other half of basketball called defense where Dray is a mastermind and I don’t think Curry has ever made an nba defensive team. Every coach who speaks about Draymond speaks about his basketball iq. Steph would probably even say Dray has a better bball iq. Bball iq is way more than making buckets.
The person starting the offense always has the highest IQ.
The Warriors dynasty offense is probably the best offense of all time.
Steph (and Klay) were primarily catch and shoot or off the screen shooters. Both are solid finishers at the basket with either hand. Steph has elite handles but he is not a 1v1 guard. Klay doesn’t need to dribble, he cuts, spots up, and finishes plays.
Draymond would make the right passes, the right screens, the right hand offs, the right dives/rolls, and the right spacing to allow maximum output of their scorers. Not only this, but his timing and accuracy of his passes were on point and efficient, giving the scorer the clearest look at the basket as possible.
Obviously it’s a two way connection, with the scorer needing to also make the right plays at the right time, but to have it in a player that doesn’t require a high volume of shots and can still generate 10-15 points is elite.
But you probably just look at him like a nuts-kicking manchild with a peanut for a brain. And reading this won’t change your opinion. Which is what the original comment is all about.
Oof. You have zero ball knowledge pimp! Tough look for you
Yes, Draymond is one of the greatest defenders of all time despite being not only small for his position but also not having the greatest athleticism(relative to other great defensive players). He does this by using his knowledge of offensive schemes, his vision of the court, his timing, his predictions on what offensive players will do, his ability to see rotations coming before anyone else, etc. On top of that, he was arguably the warriors best playmaker on the court, and often handled PG duties as a PF/C when he plays with one of the greatest PGs of all time.
Nobody is saying that Curry doesn’t have a fantastic basketball mind, but what makes Curry special is his shooting and his relentless off ball movement. Curry is a great basketball mind in his own right, but he’s really not some savant basketball mind he’s just a really solid PG. Draymond is truly a savant level defensive mind and his offensive mind isn’t that far behind.
Bro watch some film breakdowns of Dray on defense, he’s like a damn QB. He constantly is telling people to switch, whats coming and constantly breaking everything down for his team. I have never seen a player coach his defense like that.
You must have big fertile testicles kid
Sheep
You’re right
Man even with all his antics on the court I really cant hate Draymond. man is a legend
All these comments are corny
Maybe one of these days the actual people in this sub will wake up to the fact that at least half of the comments on reddit are bots at this point lol.
Half are bots and 40% are folks who can’t dribble with their strong hand let alone give a semi respectable take on the sport.
I saw Scary Movie 2, I couldn’t dribble with my strong hand, either
I cant think of a single thing or entity that encourages mob mentality like Reddit does.
It’s /r/NBAs version of “one joke”
Bunch of losers bro
What crowd did you think draymond was going attract on reddit…
Probably telling him about coming off his right foot on the right side to throw off the defense and get it up quick.
That’s pretty dope
“poke it at first then shove your whole fist after”
It’s a Michigan thing, giving game to the youth….. tighten up people
I hate Draymond. But if someone with a billion minutes on an nba court who has a couple dozen rings and wants to give me advice…… imma listen.
“The I-80, I-5, US-50, hell even SR-99, you can get on any of these, drive in any direction and get out of Sacramento.”
Gold
Comon Sacramento area got nice things to enjoy.
love to see it tbh. draymond can be so easy to hate on but seems like acuff took it well and wants to learn
Special talent, and there isn’t anyone in the kid’s entire organization that I’d trust with his development, nor anyone on his team. So it’s nice of Draymond to do that - will probably be the best knowledge he gets all year.
Side note but when did Zach Levine get veneers???
Buncha losers in the comments. Draymond really lives rent free in your heads 😂
when you’re like in your early 20s and younger, all these players just kind of look like brolic men. But early 30s and you can see the details of their faces and body composition much more clearly and you can just tell who is still a baby. This videos interesting too cause i remember Zach Lavine and Draymond from their rookie seasons.
Out of all of this you take away some Keeping up with the Kardashians bullshit?
I didn’t realize I had to comment something specific here
Draymond knows Acuff is a special talent. Acuff has that drive and hunger like young Steph.
“if you got someone bigger then you backing you down, you just gotta uppercut their nuts like this.”
is that what Popovich taught Bruce Bowen?
Yes
“You gotta throw the uppercut like this and go for the family jewels…”
Uppercut him in da ballz
“So if you ever find yourself 3-1 in the finals, just kick someone in the nuts for the hell of it”
None of you guys will ever smarter than draymond about basketball stfu
stfu I’m a future HOF and a top 10 ALL TIME scorer in the NBA, gonna carry a team of scrubs to the playoffs again this year like I always do.
Not gonna tell you my name because y’all some snitches
Is this Juwanna Mann?
Sabonis better protect his nuts
as long as Sabonis doesn’t try to ankle lock Acuff
Draymond went to the Shaq school of mentorship.
He’s the kind of man who lives by a code and brags about it until that code becomes inconvenient and he decides to revert back to bully antics.
I’m sure the advice he’s giving here is super great. He’s like your dad who is pretty chill until he gets triggered over something dumb.
edit: this is getting upvoted and downvoted like mad. I feel like Draymond himself is reacting to this comment and can’t decide if he respects it or hates it
shaq hasn’t mentored anyone what are you talking about
Shaq mentored Angel Reese.
Do you live in a shoebox?
There’s at least three Boys and Girls clubs literally named after him lmao
Draymond is a habitual line stepper
And a habitual winner
5⁄10 Draymond split-personalities approve of this message.
Draymond genuinely is a smart basketball player. He’s undersized and not a freak athlete, if he wasn’t smart he’d have been out of the league within months.
“when he goes for a layup, you wanna drive your fist directly into his European balls.”
“Demand a trade now”
this is rly cool
the uppercut punch
One joke
“Don’t play out here “ 👋🏾
Where’s draymond and acuff?
Yeah he’s an asshole but he knows ball waaaay better than most dudes to do it and he’s teaching up a young guy which you love to see.
“Get the fuck out of Sacramento!”
Nah stars can get an easy bag here. He won’t ask out for at least 3 years.
Fair point… “get the bag and then get the fuck out of Sacramento.”
Did anyone else see Draymond throwing a shoe in the thumbnail? 😂
That was an uppercut geature
“Kick him in the dick”
Draymond trying to be relevant
Dumbest comment on the thread right above me
“Move your leg like THIS”
If I read his lips correctly, Draymond is taking the piss out of the kid and he is talking about something about a fist up the ass 😂
“He cross your path, you gotta uppercut his ass”
Green got that fan screening of Street Fighter
