[Injury] Maxime Raynaud goes down holding his right leg after a non-contact injury and has to be wheeled off the court
People joke about how life sucks to be a Kings fan but this is like worst case scenario, dude legit looked like someone actually worth building with alongside Acuff. I cannot believe what I’m seeing. It just never ends.
Franchise needs a legit exorcism.
Clippers, Kings, Jets and Browns are the 4 cursed franchises in pro North American sports.
AZ Cardinals are so cursed people forget they even exist
They appeared in a Super Bowl at least
AZ Coyotes are so cursed they stopped existing and lost their own history
2026: Mike brown wins with the Knicks after being fired as the kings coach
2025: Haliburton was in the finals
2024: Luka makes the finals, Tatum wins (Celtics/philly trade for Tatum used the a kings pick as the primary asset gained)
2023: Malone wins after being fired from the kings
2022: warriors win, which as a kings fan is the most annoying out of all of these.
2021: yay no kings stuff
As a follow up we gave the 76ers two first rounders and our franchise leader in games played and our most recent lottery pick in exchange for cap space to sign rondo for 1 season. We won 33 games that year. Rondo had previously been benched in the playoffs
You forgot Fox was on the other team in the finals last year too.
Kings have a rivalry with the Dubs?
It’s interesting. Sac is very close to the bay and we have a lot of Bay Area transplants. They are also close enough that a lot of casuals became warriors fans bc it’s close and ya know whatever.
Kings fans are either “oh the warriors are my second team” or “I want them disbanded”.
I’m in the bay and know one Kings fan who hates the Warriors. Warriors fans don’t think about the Kings at all lol.
It’s like the Clippers having a rivalry with the Lakers. One sided and geographically based.
Geographically speaking, but in literally zero other ways
The Timberwolves were in this category but they are about to pass the nets for 29th place in best win %
Clippers hornets nets and wizards feel like the group to me for basketball
I think the Timberwolves officially escaped that group in their last conference finals appearance
instant turn around as soon as they lost their garbage owner…. this shit seems to pretty much always start at the top
Pelicans are so ass they even get forgotten on this list.
lol yeah you right they belong here also
There are dozens of us kings-mariners fans out there. What a life.
Dozens!
Okay? I’ve been a fan of all Minnesota sports teams since a year after the Twins won the World Series. It’s literally a loop from hell
Okay??
Trail Blazers are cursed, kings and clippers are just incompetent
Blazers are definitely cursed.
I just say Brandon Roy’s knee explode in a supermarket.
Chargers? We keep believing in them, yet they keep underperforming
The Chargers don’t have fans so they don’t count.
Lions have a top 5 offense being held back by the worst defense in the league. imagine having a D worse than the Cowboys. Sad Old Lions are about to make a comeback I fear
Mariners and Hornets here, permission to come aboard?
I think the dolphins should be in over the jets or browns. Longest current playoff winless drought in football
The Leafs haven’t won jack shit since 1967, not even been in a final. That’s tough to do.
Thank you man. People make fun of the Kings and clown on us because it’s the lowest hanging fruit. But if appreciate people that actually feel for us.
Maxime had a good rookie year and he doesn’t deserve to be out with any major injury because a lot of Kings fans are excited about his potential. That being said, this isn’t the worst case scenario. Kings are heavy on centers with Sabonis being a clear starter and Dylan Cardwell being our best rim protector. Even Jonathan Mogbo looks like a solid 3rd string small-ball guy.
I’ll be bluntly honest- I’m a full on hater of Maximes game. He’d be lucky to pan out as a backup big with his skillset and the weaknesses.
I thought he was going to be horribly exposed this year without veteran playmakers spoon feeding him. The injury might be a blessing in disguise with the front office giving him more leeway before deciding if he’s worth keeping.
He signed a 3-year deal with a team option next year and RFA the year after that. The blessing in disguise, for finances, would probably be that we can extend him for cheap. Good for us, bad for him, but since those years will be our post-Sabonis years, I’m hoping we give him some money rather than no money.
I can’t believe my parents birthed me in Kings territory.
This looks terrible man young promising player for the kings too
Warriors fans gave him applause as he went out. Big ups to them
Quite a few of them probably saw him play at Stanford. Glad to see the respect.

Hopefully just a kneecap dislocation, thats a 4-8 week recovery timeline with a good outcome
You can see at 0:19 his right knee looks like got dislocated
To me it looks like a patella tendon or quad tendon tear believe it or not.
from that angle, it looks more like a kneecap dislocation, knee dislocation is much more serious and usually requires much more force, same with a patellar tear
I agree, if you freeze frame around 0:17-0:19 you can pretty clearly see his kneecap is way out to the side of his knee.
The amount of pain he was in seems appropriate for that tbh.
I don’t think so. Patellar is very thick and wouldn’t buckle from that. Probably MCL or ACL
Oof you’d hope its not a patella tendon injury, thats 6 months to a year.
Worst case scenario is it took out ligaments on the way if it did otherwise could just be a month or two
That’s not a dislocation. That’s a tendon issue, possibly patella
It looks like a kneecap dislocation, you can see something sticking out from his knee if you freeze frame around 0:17-0:19, tendons don’t stick out like that but if your kneecap moves over it looks exactly like that.
Watch the right foot, something hits him or pops and his heel hits the floor which looks a little awkward
Looks like his own teammate might have bumped him in the lower leg when he was driving by him.
I saw that too and but on the next angle you can see that his heel dropping to the floor like that was the result of something happening up at his knee
Looks like he stepped just a bit on Acuff’s toes as he planted and as Acuff’s foot came out his whole lower leg twisted when his weight came down.
I don’t see any part of any replay where he steps on another foot tbh
Yeah this just looks like non contact to me. He’s very close to both Acuff and Steph but I don think either one actually makes contact, this injury is just from the stress a 7 foot professional athlete will put on their joints playing at game speed imo.
Looks like contact to me
It looks to me like his foot plant is weird and knee buckles a bit before Curry or Acuff make any contact
It’s Acuff and it looks like he clips his ankle which puts some torque on his knee given how he was standing.
Yep, this is exactly how a heel hook submission works in mma/BJJ. The heel is twisted while keeping the knee from twisting, putting pressure on the mcl/acl and potentially a spiral fracture up the tibia if the ligaments are sturdy enough.
The knee was kept from twisting in this situation by his hips, he was trying to face towards Curry and Curry also stopped him from being able to rotate his hips around to relieve the pressure on his knee.
huh? 2nd angle shows that currys leg doesnt make contact at all
It’s acuff
yea i dont see acuff make contact with the leg hes grabbing either
Acuff barely touched him
Yeah but it was enough to make him misplace his foot so he couldn’t take the upper body contact from Steph properly.
But it looks like it made contact
Slow it down and zoom in a bit. He plants and then Acoff’s knee drives into his calf.
where? go to 22 seconds, accuff’s knee doesnt get close
Ight now u just trolling
When? I didn’t really see any contact anywhere near that whole leg during any replay, there’s a split second that maybe looks like acuff hit his own knee into his calf but besides that, I don’t see any contact to that knee.
I think people are confused by the contact being in two different places (neither of which are the knee directly), but it’s definitely a contact injury.
Curry forces his hips away, during the screen and at the same time Acuff catches his calf, applying some pressure at the heel/ankle area. Majority of your knee’s flexibility is controlled via your hips, so with his hips being pushed by curry in an unfavourable direction he isn’t able to relieve the pressure and probably damaged his acl/mcl, or spiral fracture in the tibia if his ligaments were strong enough.

Non-contact? Looks like Acuff drove right into him.
there wasn’t any contact to the knee tho. look at the side angle replay, ended up leaving on a stretcher
It doesn’t take much lateral force at all to get your knee out of alignment when you’re planting your foot. People hurt their knees and ankles all the time just from stepping on uneven ground, which doesn’t apply much direct lateral force at all - the real damage is done by putting their full body weight down on a leg that’s no longer sufficiently align to properly support it. And Maxine weighs upwards of 265 lbs.
It was contact to the ankle. Maxime is planet and upright, and when Acuff knocks Maxime’s ankle inwards it causes the whole leg to cave inwards.
Probably a ligament injury unfortunately but there’s countless less serious possibities
looks like him bracing for the curry impact in that position led to the injury, perhaps contact with curry did cause it
Kings radio man Gary also said Maxime was tugging on the same Knee as well before the game. Pretty irresponsible to let him play if it was the case.
The same training staff that thought it was a good idea for Max to put on extra weight in the off season when he was already heavy to begin with. Fire everybody.
For non-Kings fans, Maxime weighed 245 in his rookie year and bulked up to 268 in the offseason. He’s a true 7 footer, so 245 is skinny for him and there were 8 guys drafted this year who weigh more than that already.
What’s the alternative? He got bullied down low every game he played in last year and cant space the floor.
Weight, even muscle isn’t some magic fix. What actually stops guys from getting bullied is being good fundamentally, with position and knees bent using leverage, good timing.
Looks like contact. Another angle?
why does it feel so normal to watch professional athletes have career-altering injuries nowadays? I swear every week someone’s getting hurt
who has had career ending injuries lately?
In basketball with how the aau stuff works these guys have played so much basketball the wear and tear on their bodies is far more than you would expect for their age. Also social media means every time it does happen you see it compared to just hearing about it before
He’s French and didn’t play a second of aau what are you talking about
Might not have been AAU but still every player that has been working himself up to be a NBA player literally plays or practices basketball 7 days a week from a very young age on so the wear and tear argument stays the same.
Yeah. Even when I was playing we played 3 or 4 games a day. Saturday and Sunday from April until the season started. Ankles, shins, knees, and hips were tender.
That’s been the case for a long time.
The question wasn’t about him specifically. The amount of playing time kids play before entering the league is still increasing the frequency of knee and ankle injuries. Doesn’t mean it’s always the cause.
Raynaud is a 4 year player, a legit Stanford graduate, and grew up in France
I would call that a contact injury
Fuck no man, he is extremely promising
When will the pain cease
You can see in the replays his knee cap dislocated laterally.
That’s the season for the guy. Curry’s knee never touched him.
Yeah but Acuff’s did. That’s what caused it, you can clearly see on one of the angles. Super unfortunate
Damn that’s fucked
His knee deadass just gave up
Hope he’s good….i was drooling over his game the other day when they were playing the lakers. Dude looked LEGIT!
Damn, this is horrible for any Kings fan who still had hope out there.
After slowing it down a bunch, at 0:05-0:06 you can see what looks like slight contact by Acuff on the side/back of the leg while he’s trying to tuck around the screen. Again shown at 0:15 from another angle. Directly after gets the contact from Steph and tightens up, then injury. Unfortunate basketball injury, no one at fault just can see how it played out and became out of place. Crazy how so little can set off an injury like this, could’ve happened in practice.
Damn.
There’s contact
NOOOOOOO
Fuck me
Sucks to see. Was looking forward to see his improvement for this season
hard to tell but ankle getting hit inward caused knee cap to dislocate…dang
aw damn this sucks
kings fans don’t deserve this man
King on King violence.
Looks like a contact injury to me
Non contact is scary
How is that non contact
No contact on the knee
Is Sabonis fully back ? Who else is C
Dylan Cardwell
How the hell do the Kings have so many quality centers?
“Quality.”
That’s the first time I’ve heard Domas described as one around here
I wouldn’t call this non contact, but damn. Hate to see that.
As a kings fan, I’m so fucking tired. I’m 32 I’ve almost never had fun with this team, my life is despair.
I think I saw his kneecap tweaking in the replay (from the far side)
It’s slight, but noticeable (a bit harder to see because of the black cover).
Look at 0:17 (OUCH)
Prayers up
Edit: I’m pretty sure Steph Curry hit him slightly, right at that spot (unintentionally, of course)
There’s definitely contact.
That wasn’t non contact. Acuff’s leg made contact with his at the exact wrong millisecond. Honestly so crazy if you go watch it frame by frame. I feel like that was a one in a million type injury
oh no
Whatever it is, hoping for the best case scenario type of knee injury for the young fella
Damn. Kings can’t catch a break
Didn’t he have a non-contact moment against the lakers couple days ago grabbing his knee after a failed layup or something
Damn that sucks he’s been balling
I hope it’s not season ending but that did not look good. The center landscape is THIN.
genuinely tragic. get well soon bud.
“Life is Unfair” should be the actual motto of life
Ugh that sucks to see
It just never ends
Good thing yall have Ben Simmons
Blocking this person because they have no idea what they are saying or posting about.
Seems like there was some contact.
