For context if he plays 70 games a year for the next 2 years at 7.3 points per game that would be enough to break Dwight Howard record

Braided_Marxist | CHI

He’ll probably get 10ppg id imagine. Dude is perfect for a bench big role bringing offense off the bench

Define “strings” here? I’m sure he’ll get his 15mpg

I actually seriously wonder who orlando fans consider the franchise goat

Both shaq and howard didnt have friendly exits from the franchise

It’s probably still Dwight despite the exit. Multiple DPoY, more years than Shaq did and led them to a Finals berth like Shaq. He’s not as talented as O’Neal of course but the franchise GOAT doesn’t need to be by default.

SwizzGod | LAL

Probably Dwight tbh

gedbybee | SAS

It’s not Dwight Howard. Tmac is probably their goat. He just had terrible teams around him.

asonkidd

4 | 2 hours ago

How is it not Dwight tbh? His name is the most littered in their record books and took them to a Finals. T-Mac spent less time there and accomplished significantly less. I can see T-Mac being the coolest or most aesthetically pleasing, or even best perimeter player ever but GOAT above Dwight or even Shaq is foolish.

This is dumb. It’s definitely Dwight.

WestleyThe | SEA

2 | an hour ago

It’s absolutely d12….

He was 3x DPOY, a bunch of all NBAs, a bunch of all defense, led the team to the finals and was top 5 mvp a handful of times.

Yes the GREATEST player is Shaq but as far as career with the magic it’s Dwight… I know people are delusional with Dwight and probably put penny above him but Dwight is a first ballot hall of fame player ONLY with his Magic tenure

The off court and personality stuff is the reason Dwight is underrated

It is D12

He pulled them to Finals with better record than Shaq

I’d have to imagine if he pulls it off, he’ll get his number retired there. It’s crazy, because he’s the only one from the Dwight Howard trade that’s still in the NBA.

Franchise scoring leaders are hilariojsly all over the place

You can find a whole range from 10 000 to 33 000 and superstars to fairly forgotten players

p_pio

1 | an hour ago

Not really all over the place. Looking at current list the only truly suprising were Mike Conely for Memphis and Randy Smith for Clippers. All the others are either among franchise legends and/or are known volume scorers.

Brook lopez leading the nets and to a smaller degree hal greer leading the sixers

Who’s the most forgettable player who holds a franchise scoring rn?

RFFF1996 [OP] | OKC

Clippers: randy smith

Sixers: Hal Greer

Nets: Brook Lopez

Hal greer is less that he is forgettable and more than you would expect someone else to lead the sixers

Never count out NBA nepotism. Dude couldn’t get burn on the Celtics but the Magic front office see a guy their casual fans will buy tickets for.

Comfortable-Key-1930

1 | an hour ago

Nepotism? What? He played for them for 9 years and made multiple all star teams. Not exactly crazy to give him a farewell run especially for a franchise like the magic. Also yes hes past his prime but still averaged a solid 15 and 8 last year

thisisjustascreename | CHI

1 | 44 minutes ago

You just described nepotism lol he’s not the best player but still gets the contract because the owners like him.

Ok_Personality_7611

Thats like 2 ¹⁄₂ seasons for him at this point

RFFF1996 [OP] | OKC

2 | 2 hours ago

He averaged 10 points for boston off the bench. If he can maintain just 8-9 points for orlando he would have it in well under 2 seasons [if healthy]

Edit: assuming 70 games~ per season

slap-my-crevasse |

1 | an hour ago

Thats with him missing no time.

RFFF1996 [OP] | OKC

3 | an hour ago

I made the calculation assuming 70 games per season which is admittedly still generous

NBA314 | BOS

1 | an hour ago

If he plays the next two years with the Magic, he’ll become their all-time leader in points for sure (assuming no massive drop), games played (51 games per season needed), & minutes played (1821 minutes per season needed, so 30.4 MPG for 60 games per year).

It’s unlikely that he’ll get rebounds, but he’ll likely end up within just a few hundred of Dwight.

sillysausage619

1 | an hour ago

I’d be expecting him to be getting closer to 10-15 minutes a game, probably missing some entirely

randy88moss | LAL

1 | an hour ago

Trojan Great!

Possible-Ad-7775

1 | an hour ago

Honestly it comes down to minutes more than scoring. Even in a bench role he’d likely clear the 7 or so a night OP mentioned, so mostly he just needs to stay healthy for two full seasons.

DryScarcity2623

Must of been Orlando’s

ErrForceOnes

1 | 36 minutes ago

Does this say something about the Magic and their ability to retain their own stars? When you look at their top five career scorers, only Nick Anderson and Jameer Nelson stuck around Orlando for a long time. Howard and McGrady didn’t.

Vuc was traded away, so I guess that wasn’t his choice. Plus, he willingly chose to come back as a free agent.

Nikola Vucēvíc is only 1013 points away of leading the all time Orlando Magic scoring leaderboard
