Essentially. Bulls and Mavs ended up tied for the 10th (?) overall pick. NBA handles ties with a coin flip, so Mavs won the coin flip. Fast forward to the NBA lottery and Mavs wins the 1st overall pick for Flagg. Therefore, conspiracy theories aside, Bulls winning this game (or any other game if you want to be technical) cost them Flagg.
Not really because the ping pong balls wouldn’t have resulted the same in that alternate timeline. Even 1 millisecond difference in how long it takes to say “pick 12 goes to the dallas mavericks” instead of chicago bulls and its a completely different ping pong ball result. butterfly effect and all that. if this was the nfl draft with no lottery then ya you could say that but in a situation that depends on random chance you cant say things wouldve resulted the same

He was considered a bit of a reach at 6, most people had Kuminga or Bouknight in that spot. Giddey was a tier down with Franz, Sengun, Moody, Davion Mitchell with most of the draft boards having him in the 10-12 range.
From what I recall, the pre-draft talk had everyone picking Cunningham or Mobley first, with Green, Suggs, and Kuminga rounding out the top 5 in any order, Barnes at 6. Most big boards had Giddey around 10 give or take a couple spots. Close to the draft, Kuminga had fallen a bit with Barnes potentially leaping over him, but Barnes at 4 was the first surprise of the night.
Best available consensus was Kuminga with Mitchell, Wagner, and Bouknight expected to go before Giddey. Slight reach, but most comments were how Kuminga’s draft stock fell as much as it did.
