It’s mostly a fan thing. The actual spurs and hawks don’t care about each other (far as I know). Most of the obsession started with the Dejounte trade. They’re desperate for it to come off like a fleece or something so it’s been an annoying hate watch type of thing since then.
And they (Spurs fans) were a buncha preachy hard asses when Luke Kornet successfully got the Hawks’ magic city night canceled.
I’m a Spurs fan, and I think this alleged one-sided beef is overblown. I just recently found out about it from the NBA sub. I don’t know any Spurs fans irl who mention the Hawks, and I’ve only seen the Spurs sub bring up the picks a couple of times. I really don’t think it’s that deep, and there’s several other teams we prefer to hate watch more than the Hawks

Common to post a congrats and good luck message. Not common to insert your own team and players in a vague way that could make it look like the Hawks also made the finals.
Did you look at the image? 2⁄5 players are hawk players, not dream. Why are they there instead of the starters? Paying respect is fine, but putting the NBA counterpart in there instead of the WNBA players when congratulating them is weird, and vice verse. Let people have their moment man. They may have some guidelines from corporate for their social media posts where Hawks players have to appear in everything they put up on their own page (haven’t been able to scroll all their posts to verify it, my connection is crappy right now, looks like they have dream players alone in a post they co-put up with the Dream) so their team just shrugged and did that.
I know that people who posts ads on Instagram, for example, with a lot of companies rules aren’t allowed to tag anyone else in the post for whatever reason. Very often this sort-of odd behavior is a result of odd behind-the-scenes stuff.
