I don’t understand. A mixtape is essentially a well edited highlight, and if you search for someone, most of what you see is their highlight videos.

and some of the most hyped young guys didn’t impact the NBA much, which also dampened the kind of ‘next kobe???’ sentiment that previously drove some of the interest.

It’s just not the same anymore. The game has changed as well there’s many more players who are popular too. I don’t think we’ll see another Aquille Carr, Trae Jefferson, or Jelly Fam type of hype.

I’m 24 and I remember coming home from school at one point in my life, and their were Bronny, Mikey Williams, Or Lamelo highlights. I remember watching the Sierra Canyon game highlights. I remember watching EYBL highlights.

Mixtapes were a thing for a very short period of time. It coincided heavily with the early rise of YT and doesn’t really work with the vertical short form content that’s been all the rage in the 2020s. A lot of the coolness also faded once the first mixtape class entered college/the league and didn’t nearly live up to the hype.

Back in the olden days where YouTube wasnt a thing and flip phones were our only affordable means of video taping. It was hard to get a mixtape. You had to be Elite like 4 to 5 star recruit. Once we got video cameras and YouTube everyone was making there own mixtape. It all just died out from there.

Granted now theres really no point ofna mixtape because the whole scouting landscape has changed to digital. College recruiters probably sneaking in SUVs to 10th graders as we speak lmfao
