First game back and he goes 5⁄12 from 3 in 24 minutes, no 2pt attempts. This is the Fred we love and miss
More importantly he runs point, that’s all I care about right now after watching a full season of terrible point guard play its nice to see someone be able to bring the ball up confidently and initiate the play they want to call.
Saw some comments in threads earlier this offseason saying FVV wouldn’t move the needle much, and I definitely disagreed. He offers perimeter shooting as a career 37% 3pt shooter, he can run a competent offence, and he has excellent hands as an undersized defender in the paint. He racks up quite a few steals and blocks against bigs who don’t have the best hands. Excited to see him back
I think the hesitance from some people is more so around how well he’s able to rebound from a pretty bad injury as a small, relatively unathletic PG on the wrong side of 30. If he’s back to the level he was playing at in ‘24-‘25, then yeah, he’ll move the needle.
