Al Horford says he hasn’t spoken to Porzingis recently or seen him around, and that his teammates don’t really know what’s going on with him—they’re just hoping he gets better.
Is Porzingas even real?
Porzingis’s nickname is “The Unicorn,” and unicorns are mythical creatures. Just saying.
Really? All this time I thought it was Tingus Pingus
Who tf is Tingus Pingus?
The math did math on that one
Ain’t know he was a Scot a lot like it would’ve got embarrassing. If I didn’t start taking people to Buckys road trip that’s the best time to go people who go to Buckys intentionally you never have a good time. You’re actually got somewhere to be and you see all that offer feels like I don’t know if it was real, but I see you that makes me feel a little better. Did you come in a brisket? It feels like it feels like you mad, Max what’s the opposite of the math Max universe standing in front of the thing sandwiches you’ve been in a Buckys. New Orleans had a lot of here in somewhere. It depends you guys go to Atlanta then on the way on the way back, Chattanooga, New Orleans, Chattanooga Beach Chattanooga no the one that says great name for a city unfortunately live next to each other, I want my old gigs that the IT fishing training and the training looks like a spam message so everybody marked the spam so nobody did it. I was like yeah only seven people did it and we’re all standing in front of you cause you only didn’t think that was a smart message like 50 people in that place like nobody to hit it. Oh wow Verizon I guess they’re getting some email about the work order sitting there yesterday while I was here by myself losing my day watching TV.
Waiter, ill have what he’s having.
My phone was doing speech to text while me and my coworkers were chatting.
i’m crying dawg this is so funny
oklahoma education?
I’m from Ohio
Come on, someone named Tingus Pingus can’t possibly be real
I still don’t understand how KP agent got his deal, what did he say during the negotiations? I give you 20games a year you give me 20m a year? DEAL?
Its a salary spot. If they dont sign him, that money cant really be used to get anyone else. As it is, he can be traded, and the next year isnt really guaranteed anyway.
dunleavy is bad at his job. mismanaged the kuminga situation and was left trying to salvage something, anything with it. couldnt just turn around and let porzingis leave
like how we traded for Butler out of desperation. Sure we looked good for a couple of months but the end result is that we got older, are massively overpaying him, and still ended up as a play in team with an early exit.
The Butler trade was fine. Him and Curry were like 42-18 when both were playing. Likely WCF in the first year if Steph doesn’t get injured and then the ACL tear the following year. Sometimes it just doesn’t work out
couldnt just turn around and let porzingis leave
Does this sub just hate the Warriors or do you really not understand how NBA contracts work. The Warriors are over the cap. So if they let KP walk, they don’t get to use that slot. But if they re-sign him, they can. So you give this player 20M and have a hold on his salary slot. Now you can trade him at any point for another 20M dollar player. Because you have to match salaries. Otherwise, they would have to give up other useful players in a trade. So now they can throw in a pick plus KP and get back a good, useful player. But please, don’t let me stop you from going on about how dumb (did you know there’s a “b” in dumb? most people don’t know that) the Warrior’s GM is.
Tbf a lot of people do hate the warriors and also if gs was so afraid to give up any pics for Giannis, they’re not giving up a pick to get off KP and frankly no one will want him unless they’re desperate to get off a player like GS was with Kuminga but that’s not a thing rn for any teams
so afraid to give up any pics for Giannis
The Warriors offer included four first-round picks. But they would have had to include Butler or Green to match salaries, and Milwaukee wanted younger players, plus Giannis supposedly didn’t want to go to the West.
Warriors were willing to give up everything for Giannis. But you’re right, they are stingy. But this gives them an option if the opportunity shows up.
He’s pretty stupid tbh. Also didn’t trade Butler. Who gives a fuk if he’s injured. That’s the business. When you are committed to steph in his final years you have to do your best effort to put a team around him.
Idk how kuminga could be worse than having KP and his injury history. They really mismanaged kuminga, but idk who is to blame.
honestly think that even if you tell someone he has pots/long covid, most people dont even understand what that means even by googling symptoms. so probably easier to convince a front office that its possible to improve when theres a very good chance he just never, ever improves unfortunately.
sucks too, he had so much talent.

Problem is who is going to trade for Porzingis? Obviously a team that wants to get rid of another bad longer contract that might have a chance at some value, and then GSW is on the hook for that poor contact if that doesn’t pan out.
No. Any team would trade for KP if they want the draft compensation that comes with it. Imagine Shaedon Sharpe wanted out of Portland. He still has 4 years left on his deal. The Warriors could include 1 or 2 picks (I honestly don’t know his value) and the Blazers get KP expiring and 1 or 2 picks. Otherwise, the Warriors would have to trade Draymond or Jimmy to get back assets. Make no mistake, KP is a negative but he’s also expiring.
Does this sub just hate the Warriors
Come on. You know it does.
Draymond and Lacob make it too easy
They aren’t the reason, though, they’re just the excuses. The reason is just lingering resentment of the team for being so good for so long.
I know.
The Warriors have been really poorly run for years now.
At this point I expect KP to barely play the next two seasons and then just retire.
Cut from the same cloth as Kirk Cousins’ agent 🤣
Nah Kirk actually plays and performs and gives a shit. KP doesn’t care about basketball (rightfully so as his health condition is not really safe for him to play)
I mean that is true but I think if you’re the agent in both cases trying to market your player who is perceived to have a persistent injury history and turning it into a load of cash is still impressive in and of itself.
He’s a decent defensive big who can shoot the ball. Warriors fo is quite bad and desperate
One day, we’re gonna find out what’s wrong with Porzingis. And then be like, “Wow, I never knew it was that serious.”
we know whats wrong with him. Its Pots. it is that serious
edit: because we have people proud that they are ignorant on POTS below here is a quick blurb. as you read it remember that POTS is typically made worse if you are hot or if you exercise.
” Normally, your body’s autonomic nervous system balances your heart rate and blood pressure to keep your blood flowing at a healthy pace, no matter what position your body is in. If you have POTS, your body can’t balance blood vessel constriction (squeezing) and heart rate response. This means that your body can’t keep blood flow to your brain and other organs steady and stable. This causes a variety of symptoms.”
Have a loved one with POTS. Your day can turn on a dime from something as simple as a long walk or not drinking enough water. If that’s really what he has then there are definitely a lot of lifestyle changes to manage his body.
I’ve got POTS. Kinda astounded anyone could maintain any kind of pro-level sports career with it.
POTS has been cited publicly, but it’s possible this is more of a working diagnosis than a certainty. Especially when you’re dealing with autoimmune stuff, as there are still so many unknowns. This really could be something doctors are trying to figure out.
Kerr himself said last year that its NOT POTS so its probably some autoimmune conditions they haven’t fully diagnosed yet
He had AIDS, Porzingas?!
How in the world did he get another contract?
The Warriors essentially gave him a 1 year deal in an amount that makes it very easy to include in a trade.
So he’s a human trade piece.
So the thought was newer treatment was helping and when healthy he is a top 5 center. But I dont think he is going to play meaningful basketball at this point, being 7 foot with balance, bloodflow and fatigue issue will wreck your legs, cause joint issues, and cause you to get stupid injuries. let alone the risk for a stroke or other issues.
the only other highlevel athlete that I know of with POTs is katie ledecky, which while still extremely impressive being as she is the goat in her sport, being in a cool pool, being smaller is likely why it was tolerable.
Basketball is one of the worst sports to have POTs and then throw in playing at the highest level and being physically huge, it just causes even more issues.
[deleted]
One of my exes has POTS, I can’t imagine being a professional athlete and dealing with it. Blood simply doesn’t move around your body right, causing all sorts of issues.
Apparently Porzingis has had some type of issue for much of his life but it didn’t worsen until recently. It’s highly likely his existing condition wss worsened due to Covid, as has happened to many people I know/have connected with.
One of my friends was very active, used to be a bartender, worked in political consulting in DC, very active social life etc. She has been on disability for almost 3 years now and been homebound for most of that time due to severe POTS and debilitating migraine issues that make it hard for her to even get 500 steps in a day without triggering severe post exertional malaise that takes a week to recover from. My gf and I went over to her place last night to do her laundry for her/hangout; just walking up two flights of stairs to go to her bldg’s rooftop required her to rest for 2 mins in between flights and required her to use a cane. She’s not overweight and would appear “normal” to most people; this shit can be really debilitating.
I myself had exercise induced long Covid in 2020 and went from running 20-25 miles a week to needing to lay down for 2 hrs after walking a block to the grocery store, and not being able to jog even a single lap around the track without feeling like I was about to have a heart attack. I had to take about a year off from exercising altogether and have just now gotten back close to my pre-Covid baseline as far as exercise goes.
How doesnt that end a career the same way as blood clots
because there are treatments like high salt diets and some off label scripts and strangely the risk of stroke in people who were taller than average before the age of 7 plummets.
Doesn’t seem like there’s a cure either sadly
It’s insane that people are still acting like the Zinger’s condition is a mystery (and equally insane that he’s still getting contracts). He’s a great talent, but he’s never playing meaningful basketball again. It’s over. Teams are literally throwing money down that toilet trying to recoup him. I feel bad for him (although he’s obviously made his riches), but that’s the reality of the situation.
Yeah but it may not just be POTS. What it sounds like he has is myalgic encephalitis which autonomic dysfunction is just one aspect of it.
yeah great call out, ME and POTS often go hand in hand.
Me and pot also go hand in hand 🍃😮💨
also a very common result of a covid infection, unfortunately. not something that gets talked about much but its a big reason we see many more people with pots/mecfs lately.
Reminds me of Makenzie Shrilla. She was the girl in the news and on Reddit a lot that drove her car into a wall at like 100 mph killing her Bf and friend. Sentenced to life I think? For murder.
She was diagnosed with POTS and had dr records of it. There is a slight (don’t kill me for saying this) possibility that she passed out while driving at like 5am when it happened, after they all had a whole night of staying up smoking pot, not drinking water. Faints, body stiffens, accelerates, doesn’t even flinch and remove her foot from the accelorator last second because she’s passed out.
The motive does make sense for her to do it - she was kind of a shitty person (her parents are straight up awful) and a “crazy jealous gf”, so the public feels that’s that. Personally I think there’s enough reasonable doubt with that theory but Im not a dr so wtf do i know.
Did she do it? Probably.
Is that how our justice system works? No.
If you have a point that proves she did it that I am missing let me know and I will stfu
(I realize how much Reddit hates this person and instead of pointing to a fact that proves me wrong I will just get flamed, its fine)
They did a documentary on her. Sure looks like she did it.
Shoot my bad case closed
Wasn’t it proven that someone in the car switched gears to neutral just for it to get switched back to drive? She is guilty
Yes it was proven the gears were going back and forth, which can get a car to engine brake.
possible reasonable doubt : she is passed out, foot stiffened and extended down. The bf/friend shift back and forth from neutral to drive
Stop spreading this bs. When you pass out, your body doesn’t stiffen up like that.
You can Google things before replying
Kerr said it’s not POTS
Kerr said it was POTS and then said he shouldn’t have said that bc he’s not qualified when he got followup questions. It’s POTS/long covid.
Ahh, thanks for correcting me.
Kerr the Doctor?
Who’s the assistant coach, Jerry Lewis?
he has it already. its not curable.
They’d know if they cared to learn about POTS. But they just shrug, say “someday someone will care enough to learn”, and scroll to the next Reddit thread. No idea of the health privilege they have.
Why are you making it out to be that someone healthy is an asshole for not learning about every disease they read about?
if you share your interests in a topic ignorance is fine.
However if you share an opinion on a topic, ignorance makes you an asshole.
Brother if I had time to learn about every disease I would be a doctor, calm down
why comment on a thread to proclaim your ignorance then?
mate you are not a victim because you are too lazy to learn.
Brother, you’re not wrong for not knowing just like someone who grows up financially secure isn’t wrong for having a safety net and not knowing.
But welcome to the real world. You could have spent your time just now doing something productive to learn about your community. Instead you’re jerking off online and making it seem like you not learning means I’m the asshole.
I hope no one close to you needs your help with an issue like this. They will suffer while you complain about having to learn. That’s your privilege.
Annie Pots?
yeah she lives in his head, fucking everything up. ugh that asshole took prep for her award winning role in
Heartaches too seriously.
the dude should probably retire then instead of scamming a team out of millions.
does reddit know what the word scam means? nobody scammed anybody. he was exactly like this before and they re-signed him anyways.
they gave him a million per game. thats on absolutely no one but Dunleavy
yeah He never hid this. His publicist even put out a statement ffs
Has he tried homeopathic drops?
There’s no mystery, he has POTS. Its a shitty disease that changes daily for most sufferers.
I’ma hijack this comment to put the Cleveland Clinic definition for people because this shit sucks:
Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) is a condition that causes your heart to beat faster than normal when you go from sitting or lying down to standing up.
Each word of POTS has a meaning:
Postural: Related to the position of your body
Orthostatic: Related to standing upright
Tachycardia: A heart rate over 100 beats per minute
Syndrome: A group of symptoms that happen together
Normally, your body’s autonomic nervous system balances your heart rate and blood pressure to keep your blood flowing at a healthy pace, no matter what position your body is in. If you have POTS, your body can’t balance blood vessel constriction (squeezing) and heart rate response. This means that your body can’t keep blood flow to your brain and other organs steady and stable. This causes a variety of symptoms.
Each case is different. You may see symptoms come and go over a period of years. In most cases, changes in diet, medications and physical activity can improve quality of life.
Yeah just really sucks, I can’t imagine over the countless number of times in your life where you need to get up and it’s like your entire insides are flipping like an hour glass when you change position. It breaks you down mentally and physically.
Used to work with a girl that had a variation of this. Youd be talking to her and just see her eyes kinda glaze over and you knew you needed to catch her before she fell. A lot of us that worked often with her got a bit of training around it. Absolute sweetheart, but really opened my eyes to how wacky biology can be. She was extremely high functioning 99% of the time but the other 1% involved passing out on the floor for 10-15 seconds then coming back groggy as all hell
I’m surprised he even got on the court as much as he did
Dude has a chronic illness that he will have to manage for the rest of his life.
I thought he has POTS?
What’s that?
A chronic autoimmune disorder.. messes with a lot of your body GI, blood vessels and heart.
It’s not necessarily autoimmune related, although that is one common cause.
Is the theory that it’s Long Covid still valid?
In my mind this is 100% what it is. POTS is just one of the few long covid related issues that can be easily diagnosed
We already do know.
It’s POTS (potentially caused/exacerbated by long COVID). POTS would make it hard to play an aerobic sport for anyone, but the fact that we’re talking about a 7’3 dude would likely make it even more severe, given how much further his blood needs to travel to get back up to his heart and brain compared to folks of a normal height.
“turned out he sucks”
(lil yachty drake gif)
It’s still insane to me that the warriors looked at the Celtics center rotation from 24⁄25 and said yes we’ll take that. I love them both but cmon
“with the right leadership we could develop those spry young fellas over in Boston!”
Looking at them in 25 and saying maybe we can piece together one more year, I can see it. Signing them both to new deals in 2026 was pure insanity. Unless the Warriors are just trying to set a record for oldest roster ever.
Horford has been great as a backup C. Another year out of him is fine
Helps that they’re paying the two of them a combined 15% of the cap instead of the 30% the Celtics paid them.
The problem is that they’re not worth even 5% of the cap.
I can see why they would roll the dice on them being healthy, lots of upside for a bargain price
And pay him extension in millions. Lol
At this point I’m starting to doubt Porzingis is even real
Well he is The Unicorn
like the knicks championship
How is it not real?
Good thing both are real.
I’m a Spurs fan who believes the Knicks didn’t win it as much as they were handed it by the other team.
That being said, they won, it is real, what the fuck are you talking about?
Knicks outscored the spurs in every quarter but the first. It’s not really a “choke” when you won one game and the Knicks were straight up better for 3⁄4 of the series
Why did the Warriors trade for this guy when it was clear to anyone he has debilitating injury issues
To get rid of Kuminga and retain the salary slot.
Bingo.
It’s like a health issue. Not really something celebrini can work on
We extended a guy we know has POTS and no other team will touch him. What are we doing?
Keeping a salary slot.
Do you do that with a 2 year contract with a player option?
It’s a 20M deal for this year and next year is only 3M guaranteed. It’s basically an expiring contract.
A player option with only \(3M guaranteed and the option to be waived for only a \)3M cap hit.
I’m starting to think the Warriors might be screwed….
Either Dunleavy or warriors medical staff gotta be fired for this extension
Absolutely brutal
Or they know what a salary slot is and you don’t.
How about you explain it then
It’s pretty simple and exactly what it sounds like. They are over the cap, losing KP doesn’t make it so they can have another player
Retaining him so he has a chance to play and potentially salary for a trade is very worth it.
Steph going out sad
No one with a career like is Steph goes out sad, they just go out when they go out
Dirk missed playoffs for 3 years, Kobe for 4
People say they want a one team guy but this is part of what having a one team guy looks like
Granted I think the difference is Kobe and Dirk were lowkey washed, Steph isn’t
True, but what i mean is that Steph never had a single year of his prime go to waste outside of a few retooling years post KD when they were injured. From 2014-2023 no one could make the argument that he needed more help, its only now as he nears 40 that people say that.
I cant think of anyone besides Duncan who was able to maximize more of their prime
Dirk was a mummy in his final year
You gotta take the lows with the highs.
Kobe was high key washed lol. Bro’s knees were so shot. Getting horse placenta injections and shit to try and play
Dirk made a comment about how he regrets at least the last year he had. He has had lingering foot injuries for while at that point and the team accomplished nothing and now he can’t really run with his kids because of the permanent foot damage
He takes up 60 million of the cap.
People glazing guys who only played for one team is dumb. The circumstances of the team determine if a guy should stay or leave. At least Kobe and Dirk were washed, but Steph can still contribute to winning basketball. Steph should’ve asked out
Wait until they see the disaster that will happen in Philly this year
Steph has Yaxel
It’s not like he’s a kid he’s 24. And pods looks really good. I just love the Warriors man. I’m really optimistic foolishly I guess sometimes.
When they go????!?
He knew what was up.
4 championships not enough?
He has multiple rings
Miami Heat soon?
It would be very sad end if he plays out his last couple years in Golden State. Maybe he just doesn’t care anymore about winning, but it would be best for both sides to make a trade.
Didnt know Horford is still in the league
Light years ahead.
Is what he has life threatening atp?
Both the speculated/reported possibilities are sparingly fatal, so unlikely. Or Kerrs handling of a similar question when likely among the decision makers to acquire him when already knew was sick is all the more absurd.
POTS is never fatal though wouldnt be surprised if are high numbers of voluntarily reaching that point due to the impact on quality of life.
Long Covid rarely can be, but is only when with other life threatening illnesses at which time it expedites them.
AIDS hasn’t been life threatening in awhile
You can tell the situation is unclear even for the people around him
Maybe Porzingis is just a contract, guys.
i thought KP could come back to the knicks for vet min to replace Mitch if he left (which he did), didnt think he’d get much more than that. was floored when GSW immediately gave him $20m per.
Classy guy. Really tactful responses.
GSW is fucked
Not like it was obvious he’s gonna be sick / injured at all.. no, complete surprise. GSW couldn’t even remotely have known this could and would happen.
Yeah but we’ve got timelines
Every time I hear about or look up this roster they get another older player. I had zero clue they had Al Horford.
Really hope Porzingis is okay. Basketball can wait when someone is dealing with a serious health concern.
Tingus Pingus is gone
Is he even in the USA as of today?
Wonder if this is it for Porzingis career wise
The microphone is distracting me
I wish I could just receive 20 million dollars and fuck off
Love me a no-show job.
You can do the 2nd part.
Been doin the second part for years. Just holding out for the first part.
lol
Tingus Pingus has long covid, his medical staff and the front office know this, and they knew this when they traded for him, but they took on the risk because if he can get over the disease, he’s an elite big man
people been saying this but there is no evidence he has long covid, he just got sick and never really got back to 100%. There are thousands of autoimmune conditions he could have, but its impossible to say its long covid at the moment. Its almost certainly some sort of autoimmune disease though
So Porzingis has AIDS I guess
think about it, T… sudden weight loss?
Nobody’s got AIDS! And I don’t want to hear that word in here again!
Damn, poor Zingus.
He has long-covid
Zombie Warriors in full effect
why the fuck did the warriors re-sign him? better off saving that money and give yourself some flexibility. having even one more better player or a vet or a young prospect makes more sense
You say “give yourself some flexibility” without taking 1 minute to look up the actual situation and being confidently wrong.
Warriors are over the first apron so even if they didn’t resign him, they could only use vet mins.
They extended him to preserve salary spot for possible trade.
2nd year is only guaranteed for $3M.
having an unplayable player is just useless for Steph. They got raked over the coals overpaying for a guy that’s always injured just so they could retain the salary slot. He’s not going to have more value at the deadline. They arent going to anything.
So you were wrong and chose to double down?
They are already above the first apron. Dumb organization loves burning money. I was aware of the above posters points but this is also shows the fault in trading for KP in the first place, and messing with Kuminga as well. Kuminga could have already netted them second had they just played him instead of burning the relationship
They put themselves in a bit of a pickle but at the very least they might be able to use him as salary for another trade
and then watch them do no major trade at the deadline because’s he’s such a negative, that you have give up multiple seconds to trade him. Better off keeping kuminga and trading him this summer. just awful management
Hope is a hell of a drug
It’s POTs. It’s awful stuff, completely messes up your autonomic system. It could be from Long Covid. Doesn’t help that doctors try to pretend like it isn’t real
Been replaced just like Vini jr. The clone still not ready
GS retirement home
Isn’t speculation it’s some long-term covid issue with the Unicorn??
I do hope his health is okay.
KP had a very good career, would have had a great career if not for injury and illness.
Long COVID.
Kristawahi Lezingus
If he dies he dies -Ivan Drago Porzingis Horford
To make matters worse… our two backup 5’s are either old or injury prone.
Andrew Wiggins Deja vu
Signing part time hoopers is a way to demotivate Steph
Can it cause headaches? I seriously think I have this fuck… is it even worth getting diagnosed
They’re lucky that deal isn’t fully guaranteed
It’s not luck.
